  1. Hi, can anyone recommend any good quality straps that include the protection flaps that go over the attachment points. Ideally under £50 and available in the uk. many thanks, Dan
  2. I left the M's shoulder strap in the camera box since day 1, until lately I need a camera strap for my Nikon Z that comes with a fugly strap. I realize the Leica strap is actually a very good!! It's very easy to put on or remove, the buckets is not touching the camera body and it's light weight. I think I have really brain washed by seeing too many M with leather strap on the internet, so I kinda automatically went to buy a leather one without checking it out first.
  3. Just wondered what recommendations others have for straps for the Leica SL. Don't know about you but I'm not happy with the provided strap. Trying to fit others that previously fitted Leica M's is fairly impossible without scratching the camera. All suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. I purchased these a number of years ago and they are my favorite straps. I can't seem to find them anymore. Does anyone know what company made these straps and where I can purchase them from? If they don't exist, is there anything similar?
  5. Hi all - new to the forum and new to Leica! Just got an as new Leica T this week and have a couple of bugs I'd like to fix: Firstly the Leica T app was working fine until i upgraded the firmware to 1.7 - any ideas? won't always connect and when it does cant read the pics from my SD. Secondly - the strap lugs won't click into place without me putting the pin in - surely should only need the pin when taking the strap out? Any advice would be great! Thanks
  6. I've tested several strap and grip combinations for carrying the Q around in shooting-ready mode: - the neck strap which comes with the camera - Leica grip and neck strap - Gordy's sling attached to either the tripod mount or the side slug and worn diagonally across body - Gordy's wrist strap only attached to the side slug - Thumbs Up grip with neck strap - Leica grip and Thumbs Up simultaneously with neck strap but for me the best solution has been the Gordy's wrist strap attached to the tripod mount in combination with the Thumbs Up -grip. With this combination I can hang the camera vertically when walking and the strap is tight enough so I can raise the camera to horizontal, or on eye level, instantly, with one hand without having to change the hand position at all. Maybe this is useful to some of you
  7. Ladies and gentlemen, today I published my review of Harry Benz amazing straps for Leica cameras (Harry Benz also produces straps for any camera, of course). You can read the article following the link below: HARRY BENZ “THE BROGUE” STRAPS FOR LEICA CAMERAS REVIEW Hope you'll find it interesting, thanks for reading. Best regards, Vieri
  8. Did Leica ever make a case for the FISON and in particular one that would attach to the camera strap as my Leica case only has the front of the case that would take a collapsable Elmar so would be handy to have a case on the strap, thanks.
  9. Bought a new camera, shop for strap and wanted also get a new strap for Q2. I have Peak Design anchor on all my cameras so I have only one shared Slider strap. Nothing wrong with the Peak Design just wanted try something a bit more classic. So I bought a Vi Vante strap (was on sale), pretty good looking but it doesn’t fit with a Leica grip installed and even removing the grip the leather protector is kind of blocking my finger from pressing shutter (small hands, short fingers). I also bought their quick release clip and an donut shape scratch protector, didn’t help. What kind of strap you use and do you have any recommendation? Thanks.
  10. I searched the forums first, I promise 😅 but I can't find any long strap recommendations. I'm a tall guy and like to wear my Q over the shoulder/across the chest down by the hip (if that makes sense). What I'm looking for is anything that's longer than 130cm or 53" so that I can even have the camera like that when wearing a thick jacket. The only ones I can find are the PD leash and Slide Lite - are there any others that you can recommend? Appreciate it!
  11. I was wondering: how was the original strap for the M5? For some reasons it seems to be very difficult to find, even in pictures. From what I understand there were a version for the two-lug M5 (code 14190, see http://www.summilux.net/documents/BrochureM5.pdf), which was basically a continuous leather strap, and then another for the three-lug M5 (code 14196?), which had a leather section that passed around the lug and closed with a button (see Original Leica M5 two lug, and three Lug Strap Appearance? - Photo.net Leica and Rangefinders Forum). Anyone can cast more light on the subject? Also, was the strap included in the box? I would say yes for the two-lug, because in the brochure it is listed as "replacement", but I'm not sure about the three-lug, the polystyrene padding in the box doesn't seem to have space for it. Why is the original strap so difficult to find? Thanks, Paolo
  12. I have noticed that most D2s seem to have arc shaped scratches near the strap lugs, which appear to be caused by the plastic connector covers scratching against the sides when the camera is being carried. Some of the non-OEM straps available have protectors in place to stop this but I note that the Leica straps (even for the M series) do not. Until my new strap arrives, I have found that a small circle of felt can be placed over the lug and the strap connected over the top to prevent such scratches. It doesn't look too bad (see attached) as a short term measure but more importantly it should prevent my camera body becoming scored like every other D2 seems to be. I hope that this helps someone.
  13. Just wondering if a number of people had the strap eyelet of their camera coming off. It's very unpleasant has your really risk loosing your tool! Leitz should probably look into a more secure assemblage.
  14. Good morning all, This is not to complain, nor to suggest Leica is creating inferior products. Just a log of my experience and to welcome any suggestions. I purchased my M9 about 1 year ago and when working, it's great. About 6 months into owning the camera it goes in for service the first time. The reason being the large dial on back was producing erratic results. They replaced it and cleaned the camera. They made no mention of a scratched sensor on the report or to me. The camera came back with a dirty sensor and one of the viewfinder's LED lights no longer working. I decided to live with the faults until I needed to send the camera in again. The second time I sent it in was about 1 month ago. The reason, while in India one of the camera strap mounts came off. No warning, just came off. The piece holding it in with two screws simply came off and the camera drops to the ground, lightly damaging an older 35mm summicron. So I sent in the camera and lens for service. After 2-3 weeks I had to call Leica to find what was going on. They inform me the scratch in the sensor had been there since the first service and is not covered under warranty. 900+ euros to fix. Though the lens was damaged due to the fault from the camera body, Leica will not check it out (for free) as it has been serviced before and apparently by someone else (before I owned the lens). If I want them to check it out it'll cost around 400 euros minimum. They will fix the strap mount though. The camera should be ready in another 3 weeks. This makes for roughly 2 1/2 months of 12 months I've not had camera due to servicing. So while I do love using the camera, I admit I'm regretting the purchase a bit now. European (Swedish) Law says I cannot get a replacement unless the camera is sent in for service 3x with the same problem. Thoughts are welcome!

    CL Strap

My 11 yearr old son Jack is now using one of my CL's full time but is finding the original strap a bit of a handful for him. I am looking for suggestion of a less bulky and shorter strap that will suit him and his size. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have removed the strap from my CL and carry it in my coat pocket most of the time as even I find it is too much strap for the size of the camera. I did the rounds of the local camera shops but the straps they have are all too big. I may resort to finding something that I can cut down for him.
  16. I like to present my "naked" D-Lux 4 with Bower SS881 Heavy duty Wrist Strap. Even if the strap looks a bit bulky and it's mounted unusual on the tripod mount, the length and handling for me are quite comfortable and give a nice vintage look. The leather is very good quality even it's not so soft.
