  3. Hello All, Recently my beloved M4 was stolen in Washington State. My M4 is Silver and the serial number is 1190748. Please keep a lookout on local classifieds if you see a Leica M4 show up for sale. It was my first Leica and I desperately want this back. Thank you.
  4. Sorry for writing some sad news in my first post here! I bought my Leica M9 (serial no. 3977145) and Summilux 50mm (serial no. 04663585) back in 2017 and unfortunately during me moving houses not so long ago, some one broke into my old house and stolen the camera. I have already notified the police and informed Leica, hoping that they can keep an eye out for it if the person tries to sell it online or something. I'm eternally grateful to anyone who provides information on the camera! Thank you to everyone who'd be able to help in anyway! Also hope everyone takes care of their camera as it's really painful to let it go that way when you loved it!
  5. On 05/23/2014 the following item were stolen in Barcelona: Leica M240 black Nr. 04444453 with EVF-2, brown half case, thumbie... Leica Super-Elmar-M 1:3,4/21mm Asph. Leica Apo-Telyt-R 1:3,4/180mm Nr. 2814981 Leica R-M-Adapter all together in a brown Dothebag mono_5. I can say: be very careful in Barcelona - very nice city, but.. Unfortunately my SD-Cards with the pictures are stolen too.
  6. About a month ago I bought the above 135 f4 Elmar (serial no. 1893726) on eBay. The seller - 123stiny - assured me that the lens was better than new, the lenses had been removed and ultra sonically cleaned, the old lubricant replaced by new and better. Incredibly, he sent it to me loosely wrapped in some old newspapers, in a cardboard box without the lens caps on, (that's right, the glass elements bare in the box) the Leica lens cap and rear cap nice and safe in a well wrapped little bag. Sure enough, the lens arrived and it was really nice- but now with a large DENT in the filter ring! Rough handling is the norm in the mail people! Pack accordingly! Annoyed, I contacted the man whom the seller had indicated had done such fine work to the Elmar, Henry Sherrer of Suisin City Calif. to see if he could fix the dent. He assured me that he had never worked on the Elmar or any Elmar for that matter, but would fix it if he could. I sent it to him the next day. The lens never arrived. (Thanks again to Henry for all his valued help) Tracking indicates that the lens made it only to the post office in Suisin City, and theire it got rerouted and two days later was delivered to an address in Hackensack New Jersey. It then vanished. I would appreciate anyone seeing or finding this lens to contact me. I have tried everything else. Thanks all.
  7. Recently I left a camera bag under the seat on a flight from Seattle to Atlanta when I deboarded. Long story but I switched seats and it did not. I got off the plane and remembered but of course could not go back to retrieve it. After the plane was empty flight attendants went back to both seats and could not find the bag. In the bag was my Leica Tele-Elmarit type 2, f 2.8 with Fuji adapter and rear cap, rubber lens hood and Leica cap, Serial # 2967787, X Pro 1 Ser # 21A06330, 32 Gig Extreme SD card, lens pen, 18-55mm Fuji XF zoom Ser # 24646629 and all in small LowePro ready bag, the somewhat triangular type that allows quick access to the camera and only a little more storage. I have filed a report with Delta Airlines and the Atlanta authority. TSA does not take lost/stolen reports but directs all items to the airport authority. After 2 weeks - no luck. I remember some time ago, that Leica had a stolen equipment registry provided you filed authority reports. I did. But I do not find that registry now. Is there still such a beast? Perhaps forum members can direct me to the best methods of notifying the camera world of lost and stolen Leica and other equipment. I have heard that the EXIF data of the camera data can be tracked if someone posts a pic shot with the body. Has anyone tried this and has it worked? Are their any methods that have been successful in recovering such equipment?
  9. Liebe Foristen/Dear Forum members, folgende Kamera mit Objektiv wurde gestern entwendet und von mir gestern der Polizeidienststelle in Bad Homburg als gestohlen gemeldet: the following camera and lens was stolen yesterday and I reported it the same day to the police office in Bad Homburg/Germany: LEICA M8.2 silber verchromt/silver chromed Seriennummer/Serial number: 3558651 LEICA SUMMILUX-M 1:1,4/35 mm ASPH. A Leica shop employee informed me that two young and apparently unexperienced guys were trying to sell the camera with lens in the Frankfurt area but due to lacking invoice/documents they failed. Unfortunately the shop was not informed about the robbery when the guys showed up. Camera and lens are both registered at Leica in Solms and I have informed them also about the robbery. Any informations which can help to find the camera and lens are highly appreciated. In such case please contact me either on the mobile phone +49 151 50619224 or send a mail to fernando.salazar@t-online.de. I started to use the equipment exactly a year ago but even this short period was enough to feel deep emotional pain about the loss and more pain since I was starting just now to have a good grasp of this wonderful instrument. Thank you very much for any help or information to get back the camera and lens. Ein Frohes Neues Jahr wünscht Euch/I wish you a Happy New Year, Fernando Salazar
  10. Hello everyone This is my first thread in the forum, but unfortunately it might be my last! Last Saturday was the Thames festival in London, and I took out my M6 to photograph the event. In the evening, my camera bag with all my Leica equipments was stolen near Earls Court station. In it contained a M6 TTL and two lenses. Fortunately, we have a good CCTV footage of the thief showing his face clearly. I have reported the theft to the police who said there is a chance of catching him from the footage. But I'm afraid that when they do it would be too late. Can anyone suggest what else I can do in the mean time? I have heard that it is possible to report the serial number to Leica where they kept a database of stolen equipments, but I haven't had much luck looking for this online. The serial numbers are: Leica M6 TTL 2756569 50 Summilux 3783157 24 Elmarit ASPH 3964779 Please, please be careful with your bags. It only took me half a minute from it, with table full of people I know.
  11. Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera It looks like most (all?) of Leica digital cameras are supported.
  12. Greetings Folks, With all these sad reports of forum members having their equipment stolen, I thought I'd post an article I wrote a short while ago with some ideas of how to try and avoid theft: Secure Your Gear | Photo This & That I hope that some may find it useful. Edmond
  13. I had an M7 (black) / Summicron 50mm lens stolen from me in paris last august. What is the best way to try to track it down. I filed a police report at the time but no luck. Any Ideas?
