Hi there, long time no posts from me. Busy time, and well other issues... Now I have the chance to post two - for me - impressive images of the world largest sailing ship that has been released for test drive from the dock. Over all length is 147 meters. Estimated costs approx. 100 million Euros. It is said that this ship was ordered by a Russian oligarch. Cheers

The cruise ship 'Norwegian Encore' (169,116GRT) dwarfs the car carrier 'Grande Torino' (65,255GRT) in Southamptons Western Docks. Despite the current economic crisis the docks are the busiest I have seen them in a long time thanks to COVID-19. Taken today using a Leica M240 and 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Exposure was 1/1000 at f13: 400iso Gerry

I live in a major seaport and it should be no surprise that shipping has always been a keen interest of mine from the moment I first picked up a camera. Yesterday I took advantage of the great weather to capture this vehicle carrier alongside using my 90mm lens from the opposite shore, and this is the uncropped result. To people living here this is quite a modest size at nearly 69,000 tonnes and vessels like this are regular visitors on their round-the-world routes. Hello, I took a trip on a sailing ship half around Europe, from the Netherlands to Portugal. Here I like to show a few pictures from it. I decided to take my good old M 240 with me and wondered that she survived. She got sprayed with salt water, was dangling against the made of steel bowsprit or other things, stays wet most of the time and slipped together with me about 4 meters along the floor of the deckhouse in a storm to be stopped from some tables and banks. Close to a total loss in some situations, but stills she works. Wow! Day is dawning on the Atlantic Furling the sails Around sunddown To be continued. Best regards Frank

The major cruise liners may have deserted Southampton because of COVID-19, but we still get daily visits by some of the biggest ships in the world such as the 210,691 tonnes 'MOL Treasure' which at 400m long dominate the skyline. Leica M240 + 90mm Summarit-M f2.5 - 50% crop Gerry
