Some reservations about going for the exhorbitant price: 1. Do all ther complex interactions between camera and flash delay the shutter trigger time? 2. Can the pre-flash/red eye preventer thing be turned off? Doesn't it slow things down and alert people that a picture is going to be taken? 3. Is there any provision for an external power source? 3-4 secs doesn't seem very good if I'm shooting rapidly? 4. Would the fact that I keep lens recognition turned off affect the available features on the unit?

I am scratching my head for nearly two houres now, here is the problem: I am using the SF-58 on M9. TTL works fine, but there is a problem with Auto Mode and bounce flash. In Auto Mode I am supposed to set the aperture manually on lens and flash (ISO info from camera). Here is what happens: Set aperture to f2.8 on lens and flash > exposure fine. Set aperture to f8 on lens and flash > exposure 3 stops underexposed (as if flash is still set to f2.8) I put the flash head to rest position, then back to bounce position > exposure is fine! Same thing the other way around, then with overexposure issue. Is this normal? I don't understand this behavior. I tried several times, always with the same result. Is the flash supposed to be in rest position to change its output via its aperture setting? Thank you very much!

Hello everyone, I am close of pulling the trigger on a Leica flash and my intended application would be for outdoor fill flash. Does any of the two flashes offer a high-sync shutter speed on M9? On a DSLR system, I normally cut the flash output by 1 or 2 stops and the fill flash will be just enough to open up some shadows and create some catch lights in the eyes. On a recent extensive photo trip where I took both system, I felt that need for my M9 to do that but since I didn't have any flash for it, I ended up using more my DSLR system. The resulting shutter speed there was mostly higher than 1/2000 sec as I normally used large apertures. Since there is plenty of light, the need for more flash power should create any issues, I am considering the smaller and less expensive SF 24 but if SF 58 offers the high-sync feature then I would go for it. I got my M9 from Adorama 12/23 and my SF 58 flash from PopFlash on 12/24. I have had a very hard time sliding the flash into/onto the hotshoe and an even harder time getting it back out/off - even with the metal pin all the way retracted - any advise (shall I sandpaper the edges of the SF 58 shoe - anyone ..?? ). I am almost scared to use the SF 58 in fear of not getting it off or damaging my M9
