I have just purchased a sub 1 million serial number M2. I did get it at a large photo retailer in NYC. The mount does not really click in smoothly with newer lenses (pre asph Summilux 50 and pre asph summicron 35) although it does seem to be secure. The mount does click in fairly smoothly with older lenses (summaron 35 and super angulon). Upon closer inspection, I've noticed that the L seal on the mount does not have the L mark. It's just blank. How concerned should I be? I do have 30 days to return. I have read that more recently Leica and other CLA technicians stopped putting the seal after servicing the cameras. Is that true? Thank you for your help.

Please be forgiving: These are my first trials with a 'new' very long lens, I am slowly evolving into the focal range past 500 mm (approx. 800 mm equivalent focal length with M8) Seals in a zoo ... first image (common seal), distance around 10 meters, ISO 640, 1/500 s, f/8 (fully opened) ... second image (male see lion) closer (approx. 6 m, built-in extension tube half-way extended). ISO 640, 1/500 s, f/8 (fully opened). Both images were taken with Visoflex 2 (with finder of Visoflex 3) and M8. Stabilized with a Monostat monopod (with ballhead and Pistock-C). The Noflexar 600/8 lens head was coupled to an unaltered Novoflex PIGRIF/PIFAS system C which was R-adapted (Novoflex) and then M-adapted (via Leitz 22228). I wanted to preserve both the capacity of this system C to focus to infinity and the (extendible) close focus range (via the built-in 8 cm extension tube), even when used with the Visoflex and M. Normally the PIGRIF-C is altered non-reversibly (physically cut shorter) to adapt it to the Visoflex. Finally, I opted against this 'solution'. Instead, I reversibly shorten the lens (the Noflexar 600/8) by around 2-3 centimeters to an actual 570-580 mm lens. Thereby I can focus it with the Novoflex system C and Visoflex-M from infinity down to around 4 meters. Thanks for looking! Please tell me your experiences with using the Novoflex system C (or D). I would also be interested in system B. Anybody using Leitz/Leica lens heads adapted to these Novoflex Pigrifs? Telyt2003 PS: Stuart, is it this (sort of spacing) what you want me to do? (I was very reluctant to change my settings/editor, because for a long while I was unable to post, and now that it finally works since a month, I was hesitant to 'change the working provisional arrangement').
