  1. A foggy day but well worth the walk to the end of the point at Cape Flattery, Washington. Leica S (006) with 70mm Summarit-S
  2. These rocks are an attraction because of their atmosphere. They are a relict of the ice age and people come here for enjoying, meditation etc. The light situation is most difficult because the light always comes from the "wrong" side. so one can try to capture a backlight situation. Here it is the last light of the sinking sun beore it settles down behind a hill. Sky and water are always too bright, so I used 2 ND grad filters plus a polarizer and 6 shots for the panorama. It is an 16 MB file and I am afraid this compression does not at all show the fine IQ of the Q Leica Q
  3. A foggy day on the Washington coast near Ocean Shores. S (006) with 120mm Apo-macro Summarit S
  4. We stayed one day and a night at the Montara Lighthouse. We were fascinated by the enticing atmosphere and spent much time on the private beach. We had always to decide either to pack our stuff safely in the backpack or risking a bottom glide (one hand to hold the tripod with the mounted camera and the other hand for providing a soft touchdown...guess, what we did - nothing happened, no broken limbs or lenses. most of the time I used my Zeiss wideangle lens 18 mm which unfortunately cannot e shown here, but I can post a few studies with the Elmarit R 28 mm + filters
  5. I was in Iceland for part of one day and took the "Golden Circle Tour" which is a 4 hour tour of the area near Reykjavik. A beautiful country with stunning landscape and friendly people, well worth a much longer stay. The road out of town waterfall Gullfoss Both photographs made with M9 and 24mm Elmar Full size images can be seen at sailronin.smugmug.com in the Iceland gallery Thank you for looking Dave
  6. This beach belonged to a lighthouse where we stayed overnight. So it was a priviledged private place. I took my breakfast there on that lovely morning. I left my heavy bulk in the room and had only my X1. I am still very happy with the results of this little camera. panorama being stitched from 4 vertical pictures
  7. White River near Enumclaw, WA. M9 w/50mm Summicron processed in Capture One 8
  8. These are all from our visit April 2013 to the Valley of fire, near Las Vegas. We could not make earlier than 9:00 but then could cover most of the valley within 2 hours. when the busloads with tourists came we were through. One could have easily spent the time from early sunrise but we came dead tired down from the Grand Canyon the night before and had to sleep at least for some hours. all these with Canon 5D MKII + Elmarit R 60 mm + Leica 2x APO converter
  9. this place is geographically a moraine from the last iceage situated in the hills of the Teutoburger Wald. Where once a river was only a pond remained. Early tribes living there observed the sky and noticed that the sun apperared at certain points during the season and carved a whole there. Since the place has some mystic atmopshere it also attracts all kinds of people for meditation and strange rites. Olympus EM5 on monopod with Summilux 15 mm panorama stitched from 2 pictures
  10. This place in remote Australia is often called the Devil's Marbles. But local Aboriginal people call it Karlu Karlu and connect it with the journey of the ancestral Rainbow Serpent which left its eggs scattered here as huge boulders. M9-P and 50mm Summilux.Of course the good thing about photographing rocks is that they don't move!
  11. this is the continuation of the Valley of Fire series from our trip to Nevada/Arizona in 2013. The morning light in the Valley (Las Vegas is not far) was giving us a deep impression of nature. All pictures this time with the X1 Ayers Rock in Nevada we were done when the first busloads came
