It’s only my 2nd roll of film through the camera, so it’s probably a user error. I rewound a roll of Kodak Tri-X (36 exp) film today on my M4-P. During the rewind I could feel the tension on he film being rewound and then it went slack. Thinking the film had been rewound into the canister I opened up the bottom plate. To my surprise the film hadn’t been fully rewound. I reattached the bottom plate and started rewinding again, feeling the tension again. Once I felt the tension release I was able to remove the film as normal. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone had this issue and is there a solution?

i accidentally pressed the shutter [was cocked] of my iiif while removing it from my coat pocket, the lens cap was on..am curious how many turns of the rewind knob would equal 1 frame ?

I just got my first Leica M6 and am (of course) trying everything out extensively. Unfortunately, I am facing the known problem with the frame counter that is not resetting to zero when opening the bottom of the camera. The camera goes back to the seller next weekend to get this fixed. In order to discover everything else that might need some attention, I have two silly questions: 1) How do I notice that the film is fully exposed? Even when reaching the max number of frames on the film roll, I can still wind the rapid-advance lever and also press the shutter release button like for normal exposures. I did this five six times before finally rewinding the film. 2) I noticed that it only takes a few winds of the rewind lever to fully rewind the film. Is this normal or is it a sign that the rewind mechanism is not working properly? Or might the prior owner possibly have changed the wind meachanism to two or three stroke? And how could I identify that?
