  1. I just got a great deal on an M6 Classic, but it has very few bubbles here and there. (nothing major) I'm sure this subject has been written about multiple times on this forum and some of you may be tired of reading the same thing again and again. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to reverse the oxidation by getting it to bare zinc and painting it. Would it need to be treated with some type of chemical? Would it happen again? Sending it to Leica is not an option for me and M6 Classic top plates are hard to find online. So, is there any ways to reverse this zinc plague on the top plate?
  2. Hi, Okay I will admit I've been wanting a leica for a fair while now and just to clarify I'm 19 still at college (soon to be university to do photography). And this leica has been brought to my attention its cheaper and it has a catch. It does have paint blistering as it were. However me and my father are into airsoft (for those of you who don't know what it is it's practically paint ball with bb guns, sounds stupid but its fun!) well my father has had his airsoft guns 'ceratoked' this is a form of painting (and it is cooked) but can pretty much stick to any metal (What is Cerakote?) more information on it there. So I believe by now you'll get at what I'm coming to, I have no experiance repainting leicas and from what i gather people who have done it, it cost an arm and leg. So I was wondering if it would be suitable to paint a leica m6 top plate using this method as it would be fairly cheaper to do so then to buy another top plate at a later date. Thanks for your time Alex
  3. Hello from Japan. I bought a used Leica M7 because it was a great price with two lenses. I love the features and proportions of the M7. Most of all, I love the fact that the camera was born in 2002 (I have a personal attachment to 2002). Of course, there is the issue of the repairability of the electronic shutter. Now, my Leica M7 that I bought is a bit scratched up. It's used, and it's an early model of the M7. But since it is my first Leica and I plan to travel with it until it is beyond repair, I want to freshen it up and make it beautiful. Initially, I was looking for a repainter, but I couldn't find one who repainted the M7, at least not in Japan. In the course of my research, I found out that Leica offers Redesign Options, and on Reddit I found a guy who had replaced the top cover of his M7. Is it possible to revive the Leica M7 with Leica's Redesign Options? Also, has anyone done that? I would like to do an overhaul on my Leica and replace the exterior parts at the same time. There is not much information about that. If the replacement of the exterior is not possible, I would like to engrave the print on the top cover. Thanks in advance. P.S. I heard that Leica Japan is a bit unresponsive on that front, so I'm asking here.
  4. Has anyone repainted the markings on their Leica lens DIY? I’ve got a 50 cron silver that I love and will never sell but just getting bored of its aesthetics lol and have fallen in love with the aesthetics of the limited edition attached (just the repaint of the letterings). Just wondering if its a simple removal of paint and repaint job and if anyone has had any experience. Thank you!
  6. Hi, I was wondering, is it possible to diy repaint the serial numbers? I have a chrome M3 but there was some black paint missing at the Leica logo and other parts. What is the best way to repaint it? I thought maybe use a fine permanent marker and follow the inscription? Ideas? Thanks
