  1. Loch Fada and the Old Man of Storr at sunrise, taken on an exceptionally still morning during one of the Workshops I led on the Isle of Skye in Scotland last spring. Leica SL, Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri

  3. Last light at Kimmeridge Bay, in Dorset. I truly love exploring and photographing the ledges at Kimmeridge for detail work, they are so inspiring and I find them always rewarding, with almost any light. I took this photograph during a Workshop One-on-One in Dorset I led in October 2017. Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thank you for viewing, best regards Vieri
  4. Sunrise view of Sgurr nan Gillean, taken during one of the Workshops I led on the Isle of Skye last spring. Leica S (007), Leica Summarit-S 35mm and Formatt-HItech Firecrest filters. Can't wait to be back on Skye next month! Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  5. Amazing Playa de Aguilar at sunrise, taken while exploring new locations right after my Workshop in Asturias and the Atlantic (Spain) last September. Leica SL, Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thank you for viewing, best regards Vieri

  7. Thank you to everyone who took part in last month's 159th Barnack's Monthly theme, which was filled with more than 1,250 pictures, excellent ideas and interpretations of the theme. Also, thank you to everyone who helped to make it another successful month by generously posting their pictures and in particular to those people who posted for the first time - I hope you found it an interesting and rewarding experience and I hope it encourages you to share more of your pictures with us! The 160th Barnack's Monthly theme for January 2022 is: Reflection This month's theme is any picture that contains a reflection. For example, it could be a duck reflected in a pond, a wing mirror, a reflection in a silver bracelet, the side of a glass skyscraper, a polished table, a car bonnet on a sunny day, She Who Must Be Obeyed applying her war paint in the mirror, specular highlights bouncing off a shiny surface, shiny shoes, a glitter ball, a mirror behind a bar, a make-up mirror, reflections in a shop window, from the back of a spoon, from a watch face, from a grand staircase, from a grandfather clock, from a windscreen, from a military helmet, from salt and pepper shakers, from a toaster, from a trophy cabinet, from a mobile phone, from shiny buttons, from an airstream caravan - it's entirely your choice so let your imagination run free! It would be a big help if you give your picture a title so to help us understand your point of view. Members have asked if we'd very kindly name the camera and lens used because it's interesting to know. The rules are deliberately loose so go out and shoot with this month's theme in mind or start searching back through those pictures you took oh-so long ago that you'd forgotten about and start posting! It doesn't have to be your best ever shot and it's not a competition so you might surprise the rest of us and yourself - it's just about sharing some pictures, seeing others' take on the topic, and enjoying it! Everybody's welcome to contribute, any interpretation, any number of posts, pictures that have been posted on the forum before, any equipment as long as it and the photo complies with the forum's rules of either camera or lens or both made by Leica. Please post freely - especially newcomers and please remember there's no judging or criticism (good or bad) in this thread. So, if you'd like to show your acknowledgement or appreciation that someone has posted their picture then instead of posting a comment please use the "Thanks" button that you can find at the bottom right of every post. Please post away and I look forward to seeing your interesting interpretations of this month's theme. Note: Moderator Pop has very kindly assembled links to all of the past Barnack's Monthly threads as a single archive that can be found here: Barnack's Monthly Index. Thank you, Pop! JUST A NOTE: THE BARNACK'S MONTHLY SERIES OF THREADS HAVE PASSED 2 MILLION VIEWS OVER THEIR ELEVEN YEAR LIFE! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED IN SOME WAY, YOU SHOULD FEEL PROUD OF YOURSELVES. Pete.
  8. This sunny and cool october day was dedicated to discover autumnal impression in my city of Bielefeld. We have many parks and one of them belongs to our art museum (architect Philipp Johnson). This park has a pond, old trees and scultptures. Olympues EM 5 with Summilux 15 mm and infrared filter
  9. The morning light in winter can be very nice. This place is showing the architecture of our local main hospital which is on the way to my office. I go there often and here I wnted to find ho well the Leica Q can cover the whole range of light here. Very little in pp only a slight boost of the shadows was necessary. Leica Q
  10. These rocks are an attraction because of their atmosphere. They are a relict of the ice age and people come here for enjoying, meditation etc. The light situation is most difficult because the light always comes from the "wrong" side. so one can try to capture a backlight situation. Here it is the last light of the sinking sun beore it settles down behind a hill. Sky and water are always too bright, so I used 2 ND grad filters plus a polarizer and 6 shots for the panorama. It is an 16 MB file and I am afraid this compression does not at all show the fine IQ of the Q Leica Q
  11. Hong Kong, october 2016 Exchange Square during the heavy rain of a typhoon of category 3. The streets were deserted then because everybody wanted to be under shelter. These situations offer a great chance of light and reflections. The camera behaved absolutely reliable. The sculpture is from Henry Moore. Even my city has one copy and so I felt at home.... Leica Q
  12. this is the pond of a reconstructed village of the Demold Open-Air museum which is open on the second weekend of december on the occasion of an advent market. The whole village is being illuminated and here you can see the result of the struggle against disturbing willows this is a vertical pano of 2 pictures with Canon 5D MKII and Elmarit R 90 mm
  13. Today I got my first Leica rangefinder (an M4 in a very good condition) but I stumbled upon 2 issues Loading Film I followed the manual instructions and everything seemed to be fine until I discovered that the film was not advancing (at frame 40+): what did I do wrong? Bright Framelines In some angles in the 35/135 lines framelines mode I see (sometimes) one of the 50mm framelines reflection (just a thin line and only the bottom line): is this a normal reflection issue? thanks in advance for your feedback
  14. This pond I pass every day on my walk to my office. The red color is the reflection of a part of a characteristic building of our city: the main hospital. Light was nice and a very thin fragile layer of ice was there. Very often if morning light is promising my Olympus EM5 joins me and more and more the Leica R lenses are becoming my favourites here. This time it was the 60 mm macro Elmarit.
