  1. Hi dear colleagues, some time ago I asked what analog camera you would recommend for pro-use. I got a lot of helpful tips here and finally got a beautiful M7. Now I have shot my first full day wedding coverage with it. Tools: Leica M7 (MP viewfinder) with 35 Summicron IV and Artisan 50/1.1. Ilford HP5 pushed to 1600. (colorimages on Canon AE with 50/1.4 - so just ignore them) The film was developed in my guest-bathroom (na, now more a little foto-lab) Over the time of 13 hours I shot 14 rolls of films with the Leica and delivered 400 images. I am in love with this incredible camera and could not wish for any better tool to make my job (0: here you can see the images: https://just-schmidt.com/analog-wedding-photography/ I have been shooting weddings with the M9 and M240 for 2 years now, so the transition was nearly a piece of cake. Even the flash work went very well after I trained a bit at home and learned to remember some settings, even for off-camera-use. So I could extrapolate on the fly, depending on circumstances and distance. Now I am probably going to get a M3 to take my 50, so that I do not need to change lenses. have fun shooting, heiko
  2. Sure, I'm getting an M9 if it's full-frame, but the M8 is still pulling its weight in the meantime... http://www.rockymountainindependent.com/2009/09/a-retro-ride-into-the-20th-century/ 3-4 still pix incorporated into the video - but the M8 with Mandler 21 and 90 (+135) really did their thing in the stills gallery at the bottom (click in the image to get full-screen size gallery) This place is sort of the "Leica M" of amusement parks - stuck in the 1950's and making the most of it.
  3. Hi dear fellow photographers The M9. I had my reservations, I had my problems. I asked, and complained about it in this forum and got some good advice. But I was not really convinced. The 35 Summilux FLE. Again disappointments, was nearly about to sell it. Thought about to separate from Leica totally. There where moments of frustration but also moments of joy. I am a professionell wedding photographer and shoot mainly in unposed journalistic style. Yeah, easy answer, the M9 is for you you might say. I thought so, too. But parallax, fast moving situations with open aperture and low light shooting were the issues that made my problems. In the end I found peace - in Bali. No, I am not Julia Roberts but still, I found my peace with my M9 and Summilux combo. I actually love it. The colors, the out of focus rendering, the handling. It was just pure fun to use it. And I am happy with the results. The M9 will get a lot of work next season... If you like, see some pictures from my journey to Bali (the M9/35 was accompanied with the D700 and a 85/1.4) a professional shooting: Schmidt Wedding Photography a little private notebook of my time in Bali: Schmidt Wedding Photography So, now probably is the time to try the 75 Summicron/Summilux, and the journey will start again... heiko schmidt
