I post process my SL 2 raws in Adobe Lightroom. It is generally fine, although, as seems common with Leica raws, the reds are a bit oversaturated. I tend to use the Landscape profile as it seems to have a slightly less contrasty tone curve than Color and the colours are a bit more vibrant. A typical workflow is to add a bit of vignetting, adjust white balance, push the auto exposure, for a starting point, normalise the black and white points to get the right amount of clipping, add 15 clarity and 5 dehaze, and Robert is your Mother’s brother. The SL2’s white balance is normally v good, but when it isn’t I find that Auto tends to result in an overly warm image, relative to the expected neutral. Similarly, taking the white balance reading from gray clouds seems to result in too much warming of the image, suggesting that the SL2 wants to render them blue, at least under the Landscape profile. (I get better results taking the white point from cloud highlights, where they are available and where it isn’t too close to sunset.) I also realise that the dehaze tends to add a bit of a blue cast. Has anyone a better recipe for getting better (more natural) colours out of the SL2?

I used the SL2 in multiexposure (189Mpx) mode with a Summicron 50mm SL at f2.2. The edges do get softer (not entirely clear that this is the lens or atmosphere or the way that the SL2 takes / stitches such images). Topaz Sharpen AI does a reasonable job at cleaning up the deficiencies. (I have probably slightly overcooked it, but may well have started with the auto settings.). [No interest to declare; paid for the product (v 3.3.5).]

Hello, All! Have just consolidated 30 years of Rollei, Contax, Tachihara, Canon and Nikon gear into an M8.2, a Summicron 50, an Elmarit 28 and a Preorder on an M. My first trip with the 8.2 has given me confidence my 2 years of soul searching has resulted in the right decision, but also reminds me I have new learning curves to conquer. With the equipment choice made, I have the workflow issues to decide and can surely use some experieinced guidance. I'm an iMac user who has defaulted to iPhoto and Aperture in the past for convenience, but feel the time has come to make a considered choice for the long term organization and interpretation of my files. Any advice on how to begin properly with DNG files will be gratefully received. I've already enjoyed the Old Glass thread and sampled many others which have enlarged my knowledge of the new world Leica equipment is unfolding to me. Looking forward to our future exchanges!
