  1. I'm working through processing images in Capture One, and scanning film (tedious process), having ditched LightRoom and PhotoShop (reluctantly, but Adobe's charging policy and the way they handle their software, having to log in etc etc got to me). I would like all my photos to have the same treatment - a border and a watermark in the border, with my name and not much more. Is there any way to do this using Capture One? or do I have to resubscribe to PhotoShop (please say no, I don't need to do that). Is there a Capture One work around or add-on for this? Cheers John
  2. Hi Everyone I wondered if anywone could quicky and simply explain to me the process for creating a photoshop action in PS6 for Windows - I realise that there must be masses of information on how to do this on the net but would appreciate a quick explanation so I can set up a simple action and perhaps a pointer to a resource so I can look into it further when I have time. What I want to do is: 1) Load a RAW image 2) Perform Auto Levels or Auto Contrast 3) Re-size to 1150 x 760 pixels 4) Save to Web and Devices Thanks in advance Robert
  3. Hi I have been playing around with the Leica M Mono Typ 246 and as I can see on Lightroom, some of the options are inactivated bc no color channels. I was wondering if people have any tips regarding the workflow BW processing of the MM246 raw file to achieve strong b&W contrast (but not surreal sharpness) like Sally Man's photos tonality. been using LR and Silver Efex Pro and some pics i have taken : https://www.instagram.com/p/BEpUMhvxkPa/?taken-by=vadimkrisyan https://www.instagram.com/p/BEFZ6LaxkFu/?taken-by=vadimkrisyan https://www.instagram.com/p/BDZr0MBRkKL/?taken-by=vadimkrisyan https://www.instagram.com/p/BDe4HwrRkFi/?taken-by=vadimkrisyan Appreciated Best Vadim
  4. Hi there, fellow M246 owners! I've been a Leica shooter for some years now, but "only" film so far. For a month ago i did buy the M246 and i have been testing the camera shooting some 2.000 pictures, to get to know the camera before i start to use the camera in daily shootings. Please see my questions below When i've been post processing my Tri-X pictures, i've just been doing some minor post processing. Mainly in Exposure, and if the pictures are more dull and grey for my style, i've just done some minor adjustments in the blacks/shadows and/or whites/highlights. I have a some trouble getting the result i want from my new M246. It's just so much easier to get a b/w - i'm happy with - from of my M6 loaded with Tri-X or from my Fuji X100s. Therefore i want your help as a little quick start, since my strenght nor experience isn't in Lightroom or post processing. To give you a feeling of,what i like and don't like what concerns post processing, the pictures in this review are pretty close to my own preferences: Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) Review Could you please share and tell me: How do you post process your M246 pictures? Which program do you use? Could you please describe in details what you do? What are your settings? Could you post some examples with pictures? What were the specific settings in Lightroom in the pictures? I don't want to copy your post processing style, i just want a quick starting point where i can begin, since i don't have so many experiences with Lightroom, being a film photographer for 28 years. Sorry if this question already has been asked without me noticing. I did try to search this forum before posting, but i didn't find any dedicated post regarding this. Thanks for your help in advance.
  5. Wouldn't be nice to have a z-depth map tagged to our photos? This concept might be new to photographers, but z-maps have been used extensively with 3D artists. However it may be the time for us photographers to incorporate these maps into our post processing workflow to gain more efficiency and power. Please read bellow and let me know about your thoughts. 6. Hello all. I am new to Leica and absolutely have bought in (more ways than one) to the whole philosophy... but something is on my mind: If everyone -- and I use that loosely, not to offend anyone -- uses the same LR or PS presets, filters, etc... what exactly is the quantitative benefit from using a camera like the one we all have? Is there a particular benefit that these programs receive from the DNG or JPG files we feed them? Or is it just about the feel of the camera and all this digital stuff just about the same? How should we approach that "leica-look"? ------- I am basically trying to discover a good workflow and see if the in-camera processing or desktop variety best in general? Obviously we all have varying taste and eyes but I am curious what better and more seasoned photographers have to say. Thanks. ------- Roman Vail Leica M8 Leica 90mm f/2 Carl Zeiss 28mm f/2.8
  7. I have just begun working for the first time with a Leica, a DLUX-5. What a pleasure. I have been experimenting with the camera's native B&W settings as well as PP conversion from color to B&W using Lightroom (LR) with Silver Efex Pro plugin. I find I can get positive results both ways, but am not experienced enough to know the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Is there a reason to use the native B&W settings rather than relying on PP? Seems to me native B&W allows immediate review of results, while shooting in color gives one the option of keeping color or creating a PP B&W image. Does the Leica camera B&W processing software create a "truer" BW image than I'll get via LR and Silver Efex? Thanks in advance for your advice.
  8. Does anyone out there have any experience with the use of Digital Optics (DXO) software for post processing. I am well aware that it has no lens-correction component for the M9 and M lenses. But, otherwise, does it (or does it not) do good PP on M9 photos?
  9. Got a couple of guestions for the pair mentioned in the topic. 1) what if any default presets do you use for M8 in Aperture 3's Raw Fine Tuning module? 2) Do you have any other action presets for M8 in Aperture 3 ie. apply certain color tuning or similar to each photo as a starting point? 3) If you were to make a new Raw preset for M8 in AP 3, how would you apply that to all or several of your old photos? ie. batch apply it. I know setting it as default camera profile only does this for new photos. 4) Do you have different action presets for shots with or without uv/ir filter? I've been messing about with digital cameras and different pieces of software for a good several years. But as with probably many other hobby photogs, I've never really got a proper grasp on the whole digital workflow or post processing. I've been doing things one photo at a time and each to their own.. this leads to terrible inconsistencies. To start managing the problem I've at least now calibrated my imacs screen. So I guess next step is to find suitable starting points for any consistent editing in AP3. And yes, I prefer AP3 - it's controls and layout just suite me better than anything else so please keep this AP3 related. And after I'm getting consistent results on screen, I'll then start to worry about printing. But that will be a whole new thread //Juha
  10. What are the advantages, if any, of setting the M9 menu to Black & White instead of just converting the color DNG file to B&W at the time of post-processing in Aperture, Lightroom, or Photoshop etc.?
  11. Hello everyone, Being new to digital photography, I am looking for some good software, to post process the videos I've shot with my DLux4 i.e. cutting unwanted bits, pasting several into one, correcting over exposure, zooming in (since camera has so little zoom). Perhaps there's a simple one to start with, free or cheap? Would greatly appreciate any help/advice. Zenit
