1. Hey, I went to Vietnam this summer and shot a series that was among other featured on the leica camera blog. You can check that out here: http://blog.leica-camera.com/2016/09/25/lounging-in-vietnam/ But of course I shot a lot more than just those few images in the series! So I still had a ton of photos from my trip to Vietnam buried in Lightroom. I haven’t posted any of them anywhere because I couldn’t really figure out how to arrange them in a story that would make any sense. Also most of these photos are a tad too touristy for my taste. But since I still really like them and can’t stand the thought of never showing them I decided to split them up into a couple of smaller sets and post them on my blog - of course fully aware that tumblr is pretty much dead these days. But hey, any place is better than the depths of my hard drive. All photo are taken with a Leica M6 and the 35mm Summicron IV on Kodak Portra 160 or 400. You can find some of the photo already on my blog and I will keep updating over the next few days. Blog: http://lifeon35.tumblr.com/

9. A small series I did on the Austrian tradition of "Almabtrieb". This is just a selection of pictures from the full series here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/derphilipppp/albums/72157659340180141 Leica M6 - 35mm Summicron IV - Kodak Portra 160 In case you don't know what an "Almabtrieb" is: The "Almabtrieb", which translates from German as: "drive from the mountain pasture", is an annual event in the alpine regions in Europe, referring to a cow train in autumn. During summer, all over the alpine regions cow herds feed on alpine pastures ("Almen" or "Alpen") high up in the mountains (a practice known as transhumance). In numbers, these amount to about 500,000 cows in Austria, 380,000 in Switzerland and 50,000 in Germany. While there is often some movement of cattle between the Almen during the summer, there is usually one concerted cow train in autumn to bring the cows to their stables down in the valley. This typically takes place in late September or early October. If there were no accidents on the Alm during the summer, in many areas the cows are decorated elaborately, and the cow train is celebrated with music and dance events in the towns and villages. Upon arrival in the valley, joint herds from multiple farmers are sorted in the Viehscheid, and each cow is returned to its owner. 10. Hello, I recently published my M2 user experience in my blog using Summaron35 f2. 8 and Summicron35 version 4.All were taken with Kodak Portra400. The M2 with these 2 lens are amazing. ( I got the good deal on Summicron35 during my trip in Munich, so I carried two 35mm lens😋. Hope you guys enjoy the picture and have fun shooting. I really love my M2 https://goo.gl/G5T1TR
11. Hello fellow Leica enthusiasts, Caver and R6 user from Canada here. Below is my caving/spelunking camera of choice. Cleans off fine every time and has survived numerous falls, splashes, bumps, etc. without visible damage. More dent resistant than some of the other brass cameras I’ve seen out there. The prism housing is very rigid and well sealed. Everything else not so much but not much has gotten into the base plate of the camera and there is enough room to accommodate a custom seal. The flash is a Metz 54mz4. For my first few trips I mainly just bounced off of different surfaces at various angles and EV compensations on TTL mode. This worked well for a good number of photos and situations. It also kept my camera compact when I’m bouldering or traversing through tight tunnels. However there are some inherent problems with that so nowadays I use a soft box and another wireless flash concurrently which works way better. As for lenses I only have the 50mm Summicron-r V2 and the 28mm Elmarit-r V1 which I use when I'm in the cave itself. Definitely a pain in the ass to swap lenses and it's the main reason why I want to get the Leica r 35-70 f4 when I have the money or if I find a good deal (I'm a broke student and labourer). Still many rolls left to develop and scan with that new set up though but link below if you want to take a look at some older photos. https://analoguefran.com/work/uvcc This quite snapshot of the camera was taken after a trip (some of the mud dried and fell off on the return trip): __________________________ https://www.instagram.com/analoguefran/
12. Few weeks ago, I use my M9-P compared to Kodak 35mm film (Portra 160 & 800). Honestly, I don't think how good is M9 series image performance, but the CCD do makes M9 series become the unique one in Leica digital camera. M9-P w/Summicron 35mm f2 11673 (f/2.0, Auto WB, ISO 800) 👇 Kodak Portra 800 w/Summilux 35mm f1.4 11663 (f/2.0) 👇
13. From the album: My Leica M-A

I was standing on a bridge in Venice, Italy just enjoying the beautiful afternoon light when two couples on a boat below me started to embrace and kiss. I always had my camera pre-set to "proper aperture" and pre-set the distance for zone focus, the rest just fall in place.

14. I'm selling my 21mm Super Angulon f/4 M mount in favor of something a little more "practical". While in Cuba earlier this year, I found myself using the Zeiss 28mm f/2.8 on my Contax G2 quite a bit but for my next few trips, I'll bring only a couple of M bodies (M7 & Typ 246). I really love the results that I got out of my Zeiss and am wondering if I should go with another Zeiss (25mm f/2.8 or 28mm f/2.8) OR a new-ish 28mm Elmarit ASPH. So my two questions are "is the Elmarit ASPH quality worth more than double the price of a used Zeiss 25mm or 28mm?" and "In order to keep my work consistent, should I just stick with the Zeiss 28mm f/2.8 for the way it renders colors?" Examples of my work in Cuba with the 28mm f/2.8 on the Contax G2 below. Both photos with Portra 400.
15. I haven't really shot colour film before, but I'm very pleased with the results. See here some pictures taken with the M6TTL 0.85 with Summicron-M 50mm on Kodak Portra 400, scanned with Nikon coolscan 4000 I really like the colour rendition on the images. Anyone else really liking the Kodak Portra 400 colours? Or recommending other films I might like? thanks! P.S. for people who have read my post about my mother in critical stage in the hospital, on #3 you see her fully recovered with my little brother.
16. I just noticed a competition over at http://www.iloverangefinders.com to win 10 rolls of portra if you send your best rangefinder pics Anyone know of any other competitions where film is the prize ? The price of provia has gone up quite a bit , and im not too keen on ektar even though it is quite cheap compared to.
17. Thomas Edison's Ft. Myers, Florida chemical and biological laboratory where he tried to synthesize or find a natural source of rubber into the early 1900's. Leica IIIf, Summaron 35/3.5, Kodak Portra 160NC, 1/5 sec @ f/11, drugstore develop and scan to CD. This picture taken 13 April 2010. Nik Dfine to reduce noise/grain, Viveza to bring out from shadows blue bottle on the left, light Sharpener Pro, finally Topaz Adjust for another look and more latitude. This is still not the greatest vantage point--a jumble of vials and test tubes--but best I could do under the crowded, hurried circumstances, we are all behind a rope barrier. (Everybody around me stopped, held still and held their breath while I hunkered down and took the shot, I must've had that steely look in my eyes...think I should've gone to f/16 because this is zone focus...I've had good luck with slow shutter speeds and these focal-plane shutters so I'm not afraid to go down that low. My lowest acceptable shutter speed with ff dslr is 1/500.)
