  1. Hi, today I test a 70-200 f/4 Lumix with my SL (601). It works fine, except the OS. Most of the film it woks well but sometimes at various exposure speeds the picture does not freeze in the viewer and the result is blurred. This happens often, when the camera was in stand-by. Sometimes it helps to start the camera new. Pressing the trigger half way helps sometimes but not often. When the picture is freezes in the EVF the result is fine. One time parts of the picture was blurred and other ok. Both the Cameras and the lens firmware is the last. Have you noticed this by your lens/camera combo? Or is it a problem with the settings in the menu? To me it looks as it's a lens fault.
  2. Something may be afoot, from SLrumors:- https://www.slrumors.com/
  3. From Dpreview, based on Photokina 2018 (https://www.dpreview.com/interviews/5734204427/photokina-2018-interview-leica-sigma-and-panasonic-talk-l-mount-alliance).
  4. Some impressions from today, as i was asked to take some pics with the new Panasonic 24/50/85 lenses (all of them at min f1.8). I am testing not like others by taking pics from a wall, the lenses have to proof themselves by working with them. Of course the pics are postprcessed as all of my pics but in short conclusion you will get good working lenses with good results. There might be some differences in pixlpeeping in high end prints (and on screen at 100% view) but this is not the normal view. In this setting from todays morning i went into the cathedral, unfortunately i did not realize the beginning of the church service and it was too late to leave the tomb of henry the Lion and his wife Mathilde when the bells started to ring.... 24mm:
  5. In the last few weeks I've noticed an increase of fuzzy shots coming from my SL. I was mostly using M lenses adapted using the Leica M-L initially, shutter speeds were kept more than high enough. Focus was acheived using the peaking/zoom, which I've always had as a successful technique. So I thought initially it was me not paying attention to my camera skills etc. Then today, I was using a Panasonic 20-60mm and I changed the focus point to the single cross-hair and ensured I took at least two of every scene, and mostly this worked, with me taking the first shot then recomposing the focus point to get the second shot. There were still a few occasions where the fuzzy look was still present. I'm not sure what has changed or why the issues all of a sudden. The attached images show the fuzzy look (orange car - with M lens) and the hotrod with the Panasonic 20-60 - 100% zooms provided. I did a search and couldnt find any related issues, hence this post
  6. Hi, with the delayed CL2 anyone tought to buy a Panasonic S5? Lens are compatible and you get IBIS and even a full frame in a comparable compact package.. More Panasonic seems a "low brand" Leica because they share more than the lens: quality of photos should be high
  7. durch Kooperationsvertrag. Siehe Presseaussenung z.b in: Leica und Panasonic: Die Zusammenarbeit geht weiter | photoscala Leica and Panasonic Extend Partnership | La Vida Leica! Wegen der lustigen Leserzuschriften (da sieht man wo die Volksseele kocht) empfehle ich bei Photoscala nachzulesen.
  8. On Saturday I had a mishap and managed to drop my V-lux 1 lens hood into deep water. Emailed UK Leica and had a replacement price of £79.00 inc P&P quoted. A contact has pointed out that the similar Panasonic FZ50 replacement hood is under £10. Can anyone confirm if the Panasonic FZ50 and Leica V-lux 1 hood fittings are identical? It appears crazy to be paying over 12% of the original purchase price of the camera for for the Leica version it is only a bit of plastic and probably came from the same factory as the Panasonic. I would welcome info asap as I asked Leica UK to order one this evening by email - but will contact again to cancel if I can ascertain if FZ50 hood mounting is the same. John
  9. I've been happy with my Lumix cameras, which I chose partly because they had Leica lenses. I'm tempted to go Leica, but I constantly read that a given Lumix model is a Leica in all but price. Is it so?
  10. Having recently bought a Panasonic GH1, I'm interested in hearing the views of those who use Leica lenses with micro four thirds cameras. I already have a Digilux 2 so, with the D2 28-90 lens, it makes sense to me to consider Leica prime lenses for the GH1. From your experience, which lens would you advise I consider or would you instead advise that I select from those lenses (Panasonic/Leica) specifically designed for micro four thirds? Thanks in advance.
  11. hi all, I am brazilian and work with systems security. This is my first post in the forum, so be sure I have read carefully many many topics before feel confident to open a new thread. Found this forum researching about GF1, throug Steve Huff site and reviews - which I consider amazing, thanks a lot for them. I never had a good camera but always has been fascinated about photos. I like paintings too and as I cant even draw a house or a car, take photos makes me feel like an artist doing a painting, and even my iphone pictures makes me feel like this haha. This year in march I could buy for myself a panny GF1 + 20 and 45/200 lens kit w/ tripod at Singapore. Since then I am "painting" a lot haha and I am really satisfied about the camera performance, but Im still learning as you can see at my Picasa. Since I reach this forum and read many things, I am considering a pocket light camera which I dont have to carry a bag with gears everyday. So, why dont buy a Leica? and Im sure this is the best place I could ask advice for it. My doubt is, as Im satisfied with GF1 (and want to buy more lenses like the leica 45 for macros and keep using it), for a pocket Leica camera should I go for DLux-5 or the X1? and, if DLux 5, what about the panny clone lx5? I want a light camera, and want macro pics too, but the GF1 with Leica lenses will do the trick like charm, Im sure. I also read this: Compare the Leica D-LUX 5 vs Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 - Snapsort , is it true the Leica is more than 70% smaller and thinner? and there, it says they are heavy too. I want to buy a light one to really carry everyday. And when I feel like "today Im going to take pictures", I can take the GF1 for a ride I acknowledge the X1 have a legion of followers here.. but friends please keep in mind I want a small one, and also have a good camera for my skills (indeed I understand the X1 shots are the best), I read a lot here, and you guys understand so much that is hard for a novice/newbie like me to assimilate everything and decide alone haha, thats why I am asking advice in this posting. I am packing to a Singapore/Bangkok/India trip on February (maybe sooner), and will get the new toys at 1st stop in Singapore. sorry for typo mistakes, and thanks a lot for your time reading this, the forum is awesome! I hope I dont get the Leica disease, ending 2011 with a M9 haha. Also still in time, merry xmas cheers Marco
  12. How'ja like to shoot high-def video with M lenses? Or the 25 Summilux? or a 7-14mm Panny lens? Or (with enough adapters) R lenses? Panasonic premieres DMC-GH1 with HD video recording: Digital Photography Review Or 1:1 "Rolleiflex" images at 3000 x 3000 pixels (that's a bigger file than one can get cropping an M8). I think I'm in love (for anything where I don't desire the "real" M viewfinder) For those who don't get my title: Back in the 1960s Leica sold an 8mm movie camera - the Leicina ("Leic(a)" + "cine(ma)") Who knew convergence could come this fast or this simply for Leica lenses? Rowzah!
  13. dpreview has posted an interview with Panasonic, with comments on Micro-4/3rds technology and some other things. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0903/09031901panasonicinterview.asp One interesting snippet: "Q. So when you're designing a lens now you're designing it partly optically and partly digitally?" "A. Yes. Of course we work closely with the lens engineers. But Leica doesn't allow us to use digital corrections, so that's why there are no Leica lenses for the Micro G system. " Also: "Q. So the FZ50 [basis for the Leica V-Lux] is now discontinued? "A. Yes, it will be shortly. But sometime we'd like to come back to this area."
