  1. Hi, I was wondering if we will get a 50 or 70 mm Noctolux but SL Body and AF. Would you love it? Would you buy it? Cheers
  2. We already have a very extensive 'Mandler Magic' topic, but as much I am keen on Mandler's signature look and his contribution to the "Leica glow", there is another very distinguished gentleman in the 'House of Leica' that as a leader of Leica's optical design team since 2002 gave us a bunch of new high performance M-Lenses and pushed the terms FLE, ASPH and APO towards modern Leica perfection. He was the guy that had the balls to say Dr. Mandler's 75mm Summilux 1.4 was his *least* favorite design and went on to "Make Summilux great again" - all the way down to 21mm. Show us some of the "clinical look" of the Peter Karbe magic and do tell what lens he designed is your favorite...
  3. I know, another question about a lens. And I also know, that only I can answer for myself. Yet, I am still interested in other opinions. On my M I have a 24mm, several 50’s, and the nokton 75/1.5. I am seriously considering to add the 90mm apo as well as a SL75 apo. A remark from @trickness about the Noctilux 75mm made me take a look into this lens. I never considered such lens before, but must admit the rendering is really nice, but so is its price. But instead of a m90 and the SL75, and with selling the nokton, the Noctilux comes within reach (with some additional cash ofcourse). But will a Noctilux be worth it? I know many here would like one, had one or still have one. If you had one, why did you sold it? If you want one, why don’t you go for it? thanks, Olaf
  4. I heard a rumor in January that Leica was making a 35mm Noctilux lens. Was curious if anyone had heard anything more about this? Although I’m happy with my 35mm Summicron I think a Noctilux would be super cool to add to my bag. The size of it would be my only concern, as the bigger lenses aren’t appealing to me.
  5. I'm thinking of selling my summilux 50 and summilux 35 (both last ver) in order of getting a new 50 noctilux. What do you think? 1.i still need to add money 2.i will stay with one lens
  6. I am in a quandry, It's driving me nutz!!! I have decided to purchase a Noctilux 0.95 and I went down to the "local " Leica dealer to finalize my purchase. I expected that all Noctilux were Black, But I was WRONG!!! He showed ma a Silver Noctilux. That blew my mind! I had Expectations. but now I had to Decide ... Again.. And its not an easy decision. No Sir! My M240 is silver and my M6 is black, so is my M4-P . my Zeiss Ikon is Silver . A TIE!!! now I need your sage advice. What finish? The stealth black? Or the Glamourous Silver? What would you do ? And of course Why? P.S. The Sliver would match my hair colour.

Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Wien No crop as usual... I liked the tones of yellows in the picture and believe that her yellow hat completes this tonnage there.
  8. While I was wandering in Reykjavik streets, saw this little boy was checking outside from that window. Quickly turned my camera on, focused and pictured him. Fortunately he was not shy to give that pose or he might think he's hiding behind the frosted glass. Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Reykjavik
  9. Skatafell National Park is the biggest national park in Europe, main reason for this park is third biggest glacial cover in the world, it is called Vatnajokul. Camera: Leica M-P Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Iceland
  10. I love taking random street photographs especially in black and white... Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Wien
  11. I wanted to capture this night scene just because of the lights coming from the ground and the bokeh behind. Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Location: Dubai / Jumeirah Beach Residence
  12. I wanted to capture this moment during my visit to the exhibition of Steve McCurry in Old Town, Prague this year. There were 107 of the best photographs from career of Steve McCurry, the contemporary icon of world photography, including author’s most important photograph, this portrait “Afghan Girl”. Camera: Leica M-P (typ 240) Lens: Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 Location: Prague

  16. I am curious about different peoples opinion about how effective are Leica's slide-out hoods. I have seen conflicting posts for some time. As an example one person thinks the 75mm APO-Summicron is optically an excellent lens, except the lens hood is ineffective so the lens is a poor design. Another thinks the lens hood on the same lens is just fine. I know I am talking about a variety of lenses over several generations. But I have a variety of lenses from several generations. In some cases I have purchased additional hoods from third parties, such as from Mr. Overgaard, and some I have come to hate, like the plastic hood on the last version of the 50mm Noctilux f/1. One of the lenses I am most curious is the 50mm APO-Summicron, but I would like to ask about others as well...
  17. ..or maybe not Lucy, but I love the reflection of the sky in her sunglasses M10 / Noctilux 1.0
  18. I'm a former Canon user, and the 85mm f/1.2L II was practically my standard lens, because I love bokeh :-) Has anyone here owned both this lens and the Noctilux f/0.95? The 85mm has longer focal length, but the Noctilux is faster. Do you think the extra light can be a substitute for the shorter focal length in regards to bokeh? Which one do you prefer (maybe a stupid question in this forum)? I find the 50mm angle more versatile than 85mm, so I think the Noctilux could be the perfect lens for me … if I ever can afford it!
  19. I am (was) a Noctilux virgin. Always desired one never able to afford one.... UNTIL NOW! I had a moment of madness after selling my (heave to lug around) PhaseOne kit and then without any consideration to the environment put the lot down on this minty baby from 1977. I am very excited. My DREEEEAM combination was to own a Leica M Monochrome with a Noctilux on the front of it. Dream come true. I have been using a Canon LTM 50mm f1.2 and it has been a very good servant and given me some great images. I'm not sure I will sell it because I am hoping they will produce very different images, but, between you & I, I am extremely happy and consider myself exceptionally fortunate to be able to own such an amazing set.. I will post some photos at some point when my heart rate slows down a bit. I do most of my photo posting at http://www.500px.com/leicam I guess everyone has a Noctilux story at some point in their life. I remember the very first time I saw one and used it and thought then, I would love to get one one day. Added some photos of the lens, I do also have the hood but no box. I think it is in AMAZING condition for a 1977 lens, I think the previous owner took very good care of it and I hope to do the same.. it will get A LOT of use now I own it but I will also respect the condition and value of it.
  20. Most of us seem to be photographers as well as collectors. Show me your favorite lenses, old and new alike. I like the Noctilux range for the extreme apertures, but I prefer the Summilux range for the best speed:size/weight ratio. Here’s a Summilux gathering of 21, 24, 28, 35, 50 and 75mm. All in black.
  21. I had my heart set on getting a used Noctilux 50MM f/0.95, but I also found a used Noctilux 75MM f1.25. I wanted the 50 because I regret selling my Summilux ASPH 50MM - I really miss that dreamy/creamy look! The 50 Noctilux could be a suitable replacement, with an extra stop to boot! The "more usable" focal length is another plus. On the other hand, the 75 is appealing to me because it is a more modern lens with less CA/purple fringing, less vignetting, and a sharper look. I also don't have any 75MM yet. I shoot a lot of portraiture, but admittedly it's more environmental, so not totally sure if 75MM would be the right FL anyway. Still, I think I could make use of the 75. Any thoughts on which one would be "better," all things considered? Do I get both?! FYI - I am shooting on an M10 and also have a 50 APO and a 35 Lux FLE. Thanks all!
