I am looking for a little advice. I have the Noctilux bug. I own everything I would ever need but after a while you just want to buy something and that something for me is the infamous F/1 Noctilux. I have all modern M and SL lenses a mix of digital and analogue bodies so I decided to go for the F/1 and like the design of the V3 the best. I came across a copy but I am a little hesitant because of the repairs. It’s kinda like buying a car with a rebuilt engine or a service record, what else could go wrong? The repair was substantial I feel, the entire front element was replaced. To summarize the lens had some coating wear on the front element. It was sent to Lecia USA and they did the following repairs : - Replaced the front element - Replaced the barrel - 6 Bit Coded & Calibrated Should I pass or not think to much of it? I know other lenses might come around this ones is priced quite attractively as the seller is motivated because he purchase another body and needs to sell it, we all know that story! Lol

Here's a marginally interesting read about the Noctilux. I can't agree with much of what he has to say about the Noctilux being hard to work with, but he did hit one nail on the head when he observes that "...the best things in life are rarely rational." Noctilux lenses are maligned by some, as is the bokeh they produce. I suspect it is not out of a distaste for bokeh or a misunderstanding of how to effectively use it as a composition tool. I suspect that it is based on a hatred of the Noctilux lenses based on the price, as is the case for some who hate all M cameras and lenses because of their price tags, which is an utterly childish and self-centered outlook IMHO. The author is using the 0.95 Noctilux, which may be harder to work ith than the older f/1.0 Noctilux, which I have. I'm wondering if those who have used both the 0.95 and the 1.0 if the newer f/0.95 version is harder to work with than its older sibling? Are these spots normal? They are on the inside of the barrel of a v4 Noctiluck F1 I purchased from M&K Kamera Trading Limited off eBay. I sent the lens into Leica to be brought back to as new condition as they could get it. I got it back today and the spots are there, so I am at a loss for these spots. Any ideas?
