New York City at night: our location Queensboro Bridge and a ride with the cable car to Roosevelt Island Leica Q handheld

We had three days in Berlin. After daylight was gone we admired all the glitzy Christmas illumination. The Leica Q was my only camera and it was pure pleasure to see its performance in lowlight situations. View on the Cathedral, seen from he nice embankment of the river Spree and the street decoration.

Hong Kong, october 2016 Exchange Square during the heavy rain of a typhoon of category 3. The streets were deserted then because everybody wanted to be under shelter. These situations offer a great chance of light and reflections. The camera behaved absolutely reliable. The sculpture is from Henry Moore. Even my city has one copy and so I felt at home.... Leica Q

I dropped my M Monochrom onto a concrete pavement some 18 months ago, knocking the rangefinder out of alignment. I thought it would be expensive to fix and, being skint at the time, I just went back to shooting black and white film on my Leica M2 and M5. Leica have since fixed the M Monochrom, and replaced the sensor into the bargain, and they didn't charge me a penny, not even for postage. To say I'm happy with this outcome would be an understatement. But I'm glad I got back into film again. It really does have a magical quality that even the M Monochrom can't quite duplicate. Film isn't anywhere near as sharp, certainly, but that's part of the charm. There's a kind of timeless beauty in those grainy and imperfect images. Anyway, I attach a recent shot (March 2016) I took in my home city of Glasgow. It's on Ilford HP5 pushed to 800 ISO. I shot it in torrential rain, on my M2 fitted with 28mm Summicron ASPH, wide open at f2. I've used the M Monochrom very carefully in the rain, but I don't think I'd have risked it in those conditions. Best wishes all, Colin

Has anyone see a color cast like this? The sky looks close-ish to what I remember, but the lights on the right are causing a crazy green color cast I've never seen before.

What can be done after sitting in the house gazing on all that depressice grey dull winter mood? I thought the light mist in the air could possibly give an interesting light effect. Leica Q

Detmold, Open Air Museum, Occasion of Advent 2nd The crowd was moving slowly. People taking out their smartphones, and small flashes. I carried my favourite Berlebah wooden tripod and I could feel people ask what does she need that tripod for such a small compact camera for. Don't you use a flash. Nope, I do not have any.....but there was no chance to get e free sight, so this guy was busy and so was I.... Leica Q

It is the third year in which the monument of "Hermann the Cherusker" is being illuminated by a lasershow. The festival lasts for 10 days and each evening the 15 minuted show is being repeated, each time a bit different. The whole forest is being illuminated, filled by music. The moon was a great gift on that evening. The Leica Q served as my backup camera, while I documentethe show with my Canon 5D MK3. At least it is amazing what can be churned out of the Q. The only paramter was the ISO so I put it on Auto and it went quite hight because darkness was deep and the laser bright. I need 4.5 and speed was limited when handheld.

Breslau, (Wroclaw) - Poland After dinner we went out again into the rain, armed with plastic covers, tripods and prepared to face cold and wet and windy atrocities. This Bridge is famous and with its strange blue colour makes a good effect at any time

Two days ago we had a nice summer day and so was its evening. The vantage point was deep in the forest opposite the sight. We found a fine bench and picnic facilites even. So we enjoyd a few hours from golden light until dusk. Porta-Westfalica, view on the monument of Kaiser-Wilhelm and the river Weser. Canon 5D MKII with Elmarit R 28 mm

Visiting Prague means a great variety of cultural input. You can spend every night there in jazzclub, blues bar, etc. Usually you get to hear high quality stuff. We were lucky and enjoyed a night listening to a piano trio. The acoustics down in that cellar from a building of the middle ages were breathtaking. Olympus EM 5 with Nocticron the pianist

Last night I took a trip into the centre of the city to look at the temporary ice rink but also took the opportunity to photograph the latest city centre leisure complex consisting of 10 cinema screens and countless restaurants. The ice rink is visible as the blue area bottom left, but not the purpose of this image. I must be honest, it is probably a young persons place, and I am not a young person, but I was quite pleased with my efforts. Here is a sample image taken at 2500iso using the Leica M240 and 24mm Elmarit-M f2.8. Settings were 1/45 at f2.8 (no tripod).
