These figures keep the memory of the people struggling for their survival in WW II. It is eerie to see those figures emerging out of the ground in lifesize. Olympus EM5 with Nocticron

It is the third year in which the monument of "Hermann the Cherusker" is being illuminated by a lasershow. The festival lasts for 10 days and each evening the 15 minuted show is being repeated, each time a bit different. The whole forest is being illuminated, filled by music. The moon was a great gift on that evening. The Leica Q served as my backup camera, while I documentethe show with my Canon 5D MK3. At least it is amazing what can be churned out of the Q. The only paramter was the ISO so I put it on Auto and it went quite hight because darkness was deep and the laser bright. I need 4.5 and speed was limited when handheld.

The region where I live is hilly with much forest. In these forests of the "Teutoburger Wald" there once the Romans were being defeated and the Roman Empire began to destabilize and finally to collapse. A monument for the Cheruscan leader Arminius (Hermann), once being educated by the Roman ruling class, is here in the city of Detmold to celebrate the victory of the German tribes. Scientific and archeological research is giving evidence that there were probably more than one battle but a sort of guerilla tactics was meant to weaken the Roman troops to keep them busy at more than one place. This monument is a fantastic vantage point and is also atttractive for other entertainments. Recently we had a lasershow there. Canon 5 D MKII with Elmarit R 28 mm
