  1. I have a Leica M2 and recently purchased a Metz 45 CL-4 flash. I used an adapter (Kaiser) for the flash socket of the M2 to convert it to a PC socket. All connection seems good. Initially, the Metz 45 is working as it should. When I advanced the film and press the shutter button, the flash fires. However, when I change the flash head angle (bounced flash), advance the film, and press the shutter button, the flash will not trigger. When I press the shutter button WITHOUT advancing the film, the flash will fires. When I advanced the film and press the shutter button, the flash will not fire. I tried checking the connections and everything looks good. My Leica M2 was recently CLA'd by Kanto Camera in Japan and everything in the camera seems to be working as it should. I get inconsistent results when using the flash. Sometimes it works, sometimes it won't. I wasted two rolls of films already. Has anyone experience this? Any ideas what is the cause of the flash not firing? Thank you for your help!
  2. I love my Leica Monochrom (CCD) and sometimes use flash. I bought from the metz 45CT4 (version pre digital) with bracket from a friend. Can I use it with the de sca 351 and sca 300A cable on the MMv1? How can I use this safely on the Monochrom (CCD)? What do i need to connect it to use TTL? Thank you all for your advice!
  3. what is the best flash or M240 ? not too big SF 58 ? thanks
  4. Hello, ladies and gents - here is a question for those who shoot with the Q2. I need to get a flash for my Q2, preferably a Metz unit as they are priced more favorably than the Leica flash units. Is there a Metz equivalent of Leica's SF60 or SF40 flash? The Metz mecablitz 52 AF-1 looks like it could be a good choice. The 52 AF-1 is supposed to be compatible with Panasonic/Leica Four Thirds TTL, according to the description on a well known camera retailer's website. It seems odd that this flash would be compatible with Leica 4/3rds cameras but there is no mention of it being compatible with Leica's full frame cameras such as the Q2, M240 or M10. Would that be due to the difference in sensor size between 4/3rds and full frame? I have used off camera flash (a Nikon unit) a fair amount in the past with my M-P 240 by using a wireless flash trigger set. This is ungainly though when you are holding the flash in one hand and the camera in the other and trying to shoot. I need fill flash for high contrast lighting situations so on camera flash would greatly streamline using flash with my Q2. So my question boils down to this: Is the Metz mecablitz 52 AF-1 compatible with the Q2? Or is there another flash unit that could be used on camera with the Q2?
  5. Hey , is there any other flash we can use when the camera is in Auto iso and you want/need to flash? any flash from metz , Nissan thanxs peter
  6. Dear friends, I'm looking for a small fill-in flash for the M10 R, which also allows indirect flashing. Occasionally I need a fill-in flash at a distance of approx. 1m to 7m for portraits / full-body shots in backlight or poorly lit interiors. If possible automatic / TTL. It doesn't have to be a Leica flash. It should be as small as possible. On my Sony I have the HVL-F20M, which was perfect. Could this also be used on the M10 R? I ask for your advice! Thank you, greetings Klaus
  7. Good evening all, Has anyone attempted to or successfully used the monstrous Metz 76M Flash system with the M8 or M9? I am interested in learning if this could work as a "pair", or if it is time to sell the Metz system. Thanks in advance.
Gregor
  9. A friend of mine scored a surplus Metz 45 CL-1 flash from his work that was destined for the bin and very kindly gave it to me as he knew my interest in photography. For reference, here is the flash on the Metz site. Unfortunately it didn't come with any sort of cord or SCA module to hook up to a camera. I would like to use it with my Digilux 2- is it compatible, and what would I need to get it working? I realise I will probably have to find the wide angle diffuser to use it at minimum focal length but I can live with that, considering it was a gift!
  10. Hello, I'm sure this has been posted numerous times but there's a good deal on these particular adapters on Amazon at the moment and I would like some technical info. I have a Metz 45 CL-4 SCA 300A system. What I would like to know is 1. Do I need to buy both the SCA 3000C cable and the SCA 3502 adapter to get the system to work TTL on my M8? 2. I also have a Mamiya 7ii and a Zeiss Ikon Z1 - I know neither of these cameras offer TTL but will the 3000C and the 3502 have any adverse effect or any effective improvement if I use this system with these cameras? 3. What is the the maximum shutter speed on the M8 with the Metz adapters? many thanks.
  11. I know this has been answered before, but I'm having a little trouble. I have M8, with Metz flash MZ-3 and a SCA 3502 M4 adaptor. The flash will not fire when set into manual mode, I have seen that this has worked for other users. When the flash is slid off the adaptor it fires, but does not fire when the shutter release is depressed. So far I turn the camera on first, turn on the metz flash on manual and dial in the relevant values, but when I press the shutter, nothing. The shutter speed is set to below flash sync speed. I am beginning to worry that there is something wrong with my leica! Any help is greatly appreciated!
  12. Trying to run the Metz Flash Mecablitz model 54MZ-3 with SCA3502 on my M9. Flash does not fire. Have tried Metz in TTL and Auto modes, M9 in A and manual modes, no success so far. Any ideas appreciated.
