  1. During my last couple of trips in colder temperatures I've noticed that once temperatures get slightly cold the light meter of my M6 gets fairly unreliable. Meaning that the little arrows either don't show up at all, are barely visible or simply give me wrong meterings. I'm assuming it has something to do with the cold draining the batteries. But the temperatures I was in weren't exactly "freezing" - mostly between 0 and 15 Celcius (32 and 59 Fahrenheit) - so I'm not sure. Is this a common issue? Is there a simple fix? Maybe a battery thats more resistant to cold temperatures? Any help would be appreciated!
  2. Hi Guys, I've been using my M6 TTL without an issue for sometime and then I left it dormant for around a year when I left the country... Now the meter wont work , the M6 would work fine and still take pictures if exposed correctly with an external light meter, but the mechanism now would not turn on. I'm based in NYC and have sent it to the Leica repair and they sent it back saying that they can't fix it because they "no longer have the parts", I contact Sherry Krauter and she said that she gets her parts from Leica, so if they don't have it, she won't either. So really now I'm just asking for help! Thanks! H
  3. Salve, I’ve broken open my Leicaflex SL2 and I’m stuck with a stuck meter needle. I’m wondering if the wonderfully knowledgeable people here have ideas how to proceed. One day the meter suddenly stopped working. The needle was just out of view and wouldn’t come down for either the meter switch or the battery test. I confirmed with an ohm meter that the circuits seem to be working. So I carefully took the top off and popped the prism out and it seems as if the needle is stuck, just out of view. It jiggles ever so slightly when I activate the meter. How could this have happened, and what can I do? Taking the whole meter assembly out looks prohibitively complicated. FYI, I commenced with the repair myself very hesitatingly, because I cannot afford a professional repairman. Last year I fixed my Summilux at home, which saved me about 250 euros right there. EDIT: here are some photos of the disassembly phase.
  4. Hi I've recently purchased an R4 fully aware of the electronic issues with them, the R4 I bought was in mint condition and rarely used. I've finally got round to loading some film and doing a shoot, it was working fine nothing out of the ordinary until the light meter suddenly stoped functioning completely, no lights or anything. I put it down to perhaps needing new batterys so I replaced them today but still nothing. If I look through the viewfinder whilst placing the batterys in theres a slight blip of light but nothing at all after that. If I press the button in to change the iso there is a red light on the top so obviously somethings working in. I'm fully aware this is probably just a fault and I'm going to have to give up but I just wondered if there was perhaps a fix and if not what does everyone suggest? Thanks
