  1. as a proud new owner of a Leica T to complement my film M6, I'm searching around for the best memory card that the Leica T can take full advantage of. i'm always interested in the latest and greatest but it doesn't make much sense if the limiting factor is the camera it seems new cards are released frequently, with the most recent spec being Class 10 and UHS-3 classification has anyone done a test on the write speeds of the Leica T? i've done some google and forum searches but cannot find an answer been shopping for cards and have concluded I want a SanDisk extreme pro card. now I'm trying to figure out if we'd be able to notice a difference using a UHS-1 vs. UHS-3 card with the Leica T thanks!
  2. Does anyone know whether the new Lexar 128GB & 64GB SDXC memory cards are compatible with the current firmware of the M9 ? Thanks in advance Ross
  3. Ok, so it's Christmas Day and we are taking some photos using our faithful travel companion Leica M9. My partner notices that the frame lines in the view finder are larger than normal for the 50mm f2 lens and this is due to the lens not being fully twisted into place and setting the correct frame lines. No issue, I removed the lens and reattached it, frame lines re-appear in the correct place and all is back to normal, or so we thought. Straight away the optical viewfinder said "FULL" and on the LCD display it quoted "Attention SD Card Locked". We have been using Sandisk Ultra cards for over a year with no issues. The card is not in the locked position! We have restarted, replaced the battery with another full battery, left the battery out of the camera for 30 minutes, put our other Sandisk memory cards in as well as other branded ones, we have reset the camera and updated to the latest firmware, formatted the card on the Mac using FAT32, used an air blower to try and remove any dust etc from the card slot, last ditch I have swapped lenses... but it still says "Attention SD Card Locked" when the camera is turned on and the shutter is pressed. If you view the images from a card on the camera they appear fine but with the locked symbol in the upper left part of the screen. We have not set this. When viewing the images you can scroll through and if you try to use the Set Button to revoke the locked attribute it says "Attention SD Card Locked". The camera still takes photos to the Buffer when there is no SD card installed, but you obviously loose them when the camera is off. I have read through some threads in this forum on a similar issue but nothing has been of any help yet. So this is all a bit of a crappy situation. Traveling in New Zealand and Australia with an unresponsive Leica after just over 14 months good work, is very disappointing. Any help would be greatly received. Cheers.
  4. Hi. Pretty amateur user here with a question about the D-Lux 4. I live in NYC, but am currently in France, taking this camera on its maiden voyage. So far, I've loved the images I've been getting, but I've also been really struck by the lens distortion. Reading around here, I see that the Capture (?) software that came with the camera is able to correct that readily, but I only installed that on my iMac, and am only traveling with my Macbook Air. I have a 16GB memory card (oh, btw - is that too big?), so I've got enough room to keep all my images until I get home and can upload them to my iMac. Obviously, there's less distortion at the center of the image. I'm wondering if I should be shooting in one of the narrower aspect ratios, 3:2 or 4:3. Then again, my understanding is that choosing those aspect ratios just chops the picture off at the edges; if, when I get home, I can use the Capture (blanking on the name now, sorry!) software, and it'll smooth out the distortion, is there any point to moving away from 16:9? To tell the truth, I don't understand the point of the different aspect ratio settings, since you're basically just eliminating information for each shot - it seems an odd and artificial constraint. Anyway, sorry for gassing on like that, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. And there's a very strong possibility I'm wrong about the just cutting down on information by using smaller aspect ratios thing. Thanks, J.
  5. Normally I use Lexar SDHC (4) 4GB Premium series 60 x in my Dlux4. I went for another one at my local dealer. They gave me a Lexar SDHC (4) 4 GB 90 minutes Full-HD video's memory card. I used this card today to shoot pictures.. The results to my belief are less sharp than the former card, also the contrast is way to high. So, my question is, shall I return the card or is there no differance between foto and video-cards?
