Hallo Leute, ich will den Filmtransport Drehknopf gegen einen höheren Dreknopf mit mehr gripp wechseln. Dafür will ich auch den Auslöser "verlängern". Den Drehknopf kann man ja recht einfach gegen einen selbstgedrehten Messing oder Alu knopf wechseln, aber hat da jemand Erfahrung mit? Weiß jemand ob es sowas wie die Leica Glocke für Drahtauslöser auch mit direktem Auslöser gibt? Beste Grüße Thomas

My video is based on a Zoom talk which I gave to the Photographic Collectors Club of Great Britain last Sunday. This was a development of an article of mine which had appeared earlier in the magazine of The Leica Society (UK). This traces the fact that the very first Leicas with interchangeable lenses were conversions done in Britain in the late 1920s, even before Leitz/Leica offered the same features on Leicas made in Wetzlar. These used Meyer (German) and Ross and Dallmeyer (both British) lenses. Some of the features of the British conversions were subsequently used by Leitz/Leica. Leica then adopted the wider LTM M39 mount and the British Manufacturers adapted to this with their later production. Some of the images from my talk are below William

Hi there. Couple of days ago I decided to try some LTM glass on my Leica MP and bought a new Fotodiox 50/75 adapter. While it worked perfectly I was surprised and mostly heart broken to see that the mid line of the lens mount had been scratched on my beloved camera which I saved for such a long time to buy. The scratch is superficial as far as I can see and on the 4,5,6 and 7 o'clock directions (The photo which I share on here doesn't do them justice. They are more visible than what looks like here). I didn't have time to develop my film so I cannot say if it damaged the mount on funtional level. But I want to learn your experiences with similar situations if you had any. I read that these things can happen even when you use native lenses on cameras but as far as I know for the last 9 months my Voigtlander 35mm f/2 Ultron didn't damage or let alone scratch the lens mount on my MP. I reattached my Voigtlander after experiencing this situation and shooting another roll of film with it to see if there is any problem. Is there a possibility that I damaged my camera functionally? Can my Voigtlander be attached to the lens mount securely and without further damage either to the lens mount or the lens itself? What are you thoughts on Fotodiox adapters? The adapter that I bought seems that it is made of a material that is not similar to the material that Leica uses on its mount. I would be grateful to read your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I couldn’t find a place to share and / or discuss LTM lenses only so I’m creating this thread and will be adding pictures here from 1930s Leica lenses (and maybe some more modern LTM lenses). For those of you who also shoot with LTM lenses fell free to contribute to this thread

What a milestone for Leitz. Their RF system is still in use, Leica is currently the only camera maker in the world that makes rangefinder film cameras. I'm not sure whether I've had bad luck with getting lenses to fit on cameras, or if this is a common problem with the M system. My first Leica combo was an M3 SS with Summicron 50 V2. Since the body and lens shipped together, there was no problem getting them to mount. Next, I purchased an Ultron 28 f2. The lens fit into the mount, but I couldn't get it to click into place. Took it to a repair shop, and the owner basically got the lens to fit through brute force - said Voigtlander QC wasn't great and that this was basically to be expected. I used the lens like this for a couple of months, but it would often "unclick" itself somehow, so I eventually traded it for a LTM Skopar 28mm. Same thing happened with the first adapter - couldn't get it it to click in place. Went back to the shop, and was given a replacement that 'magically' worked without problems. Recently, I traded the M3 for an M4-P and, lo and behold, neither the adapted Voigtlander nor Summicron will even fit into the mount, let alone click. Thus out of 6 total Lens/body combos (2 bodies and 4 lenses/adapters), 4 have been faulty. I'd simply put it down to a service error or wear and tear, but the fact that this has occurred between unrelated lenses and bodies makes me skeptical. Has anyone had a similar experience? Am I doing something wrong?!

I will give a Zoom presentation for the LHSA at 7.30 pm, British Summer Time, 2.30pm EDT, on 19th August 2020 about 'Choosing and Using Old Leicas'. A link to register for the talk, which is free for LHSA - The International Leica Society – members, is here. https://lhsa.org/2020/06/free-webinar-aug-19-choosing-and-using-old-leicas-with-willian-fagan/#myaccount The talk , while mainly aimed at those with smaller collections and photographers who want to have one or two old or vintage Leica cameras to use, will also be of interest to more experienced collectors and users. ‘Old Leicas’ will include LTM and M models from 1925 up to and including the M6. I will present Leicas from different generations in groups of 3 and will indicate my own personal favourites, which should give rise to varied opinions in the discussion afterwards. I will indicate some of my favourite films. I will also give tips about using older Leica cameras, in particular about the question of loading LTM models and film trimming in advance of loading. I will describe various accessories for Leica cameras and their uses such as viewfinders, lens hoods, winders, cases, close-up equipment and filters. The response to this has been very good, with 135 members from many different countries registered as of yesterday, indicating the increasing interest in vintage Leicas and film photography generally. There are still a number of places available. We hope to have some time for questions and answers afterwards. I hope to see some forum members online as I know that quite a few here are LHSA members. I wonder if anyone out there used Canon 85mm f1.8 LTM on Leica III? I'm thinking of getting this lens but I'm afraid that it might be too fat at its base (probably about 60mm). It looks like the slow shutter dial might be in a way to mount it properly.

I am fortunate enough to have a SBOOI 50 mm Brightline Viewfinder I can attach to the mounting shoe of my Leica III (1933), however I've noticed the framing isn't always accurate(ish) – even taking the parallax lines into account. I know the SBOOI is a much later addition to the Leica line (1951) so probably wasn't intended for a 1933 camera(?) and I've read that there is a mounting shoe height difference between original Leica IIIs and later c/f/g models etc. that can cause discrepancies in framing (more than normal). So my question is: Have you also found that to be the case? If so, what are your methods for adjusting for it (if you do)? Many thanks.

Hi everyone, So I've recently gotten back into the M system with an M2, and am looking for some 50mm glass to go with it. I'd really like to go vintage - I used to shoot a V2 Summicron 50 (which I am a total fool for selling) on my M3 and loved the images, but am not sure whether I can spend that amount again. The qualities I love in vintage glass are flares, halation and artistic bokeh, but I'm not looking for anything too soft or glowy - this would be a general carry around lens, so I don't want its character to ever overshadow the content of pictures. In terms of use, I don't only shoot one thing - when I'm in the city I'll shoot street photos, architecture and friends/family. I also like hiking so I do a bit of nature/landscape. At the moment I'm shooting mainly on 500T but plan to get some Double-X in the future as well. For digital I'll be adapting to a Sigma FP. I'm not a fan of lenses that are too big (heavy I don't mind). I recently bought a Canon LTM 50mm 1.4 which ticks most of my boxes, but I find it too big to take around all the time, especially in terms of front diameter (the lens contained fungus that wasn't initially mentioned, so I'm returning it anyway). I've been considering the Nikkor LTM 50mm F2, but from what I've seen it does indeed get quite glowy and is pretty unusable wide open, despite being better than most other lenses from the 40's/50's. Most tests online don't specify the condition of the lens used or the aperture for specific shots though, so it's hard to form an opinion - if anyone has first hand experience with this model then please let me know! For 35mm I'm probably going with the Canon LTM 35mm F2, so that is a pretty good reference of the look I'm going for. Hi. I was wondering whether the heads of both are interchangeable, i.e. can you screw the head of Elmar 9cm into the barrel of Wollensak Velostigmat 9cm New York? I have seen one such combo but the optical lens was destroyed so I was unable to test. I know the top of inner barrel should have matching last three digits, but I did not get to check them. My two further questions: are Wollensak Velostigmat 9cm 4.5 lenses RF coupled? And was there ever a E. Leitz New York 9cm Elmar? Thank you for your answers.

Liebe erfahrene Leica-Freunde, ich besitze ein "älteres" Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f1.5 Objektiv mit Schraubgewinde, welches ich mit einem M-Bajonett-Adapter (ebenfalls von Voigtländer) an meinen analogen und digitalen M-Kameras nutze. Leider hat dieses Objektiv an der digitalen M (240) ein bisschen "Backfocus", die tatsächliche Schärfe-Ebene liegt also weiter hinten als das Schnittbild im Entfernungsmesser. Oder konkret formuliert: wenn ich im Messsucher auf die Augen fokussiere, dann sind auf dem Foto die Augen etwas unscharf, die Schläfen oder Ohren jedoch scharf abgebildet. Nun die Frage an die erfahrenen Leica-Besitzer und -Bastler: Wie kann ich diesen Backfocus am Objektiv korrigieren / justieren? (am Messucher der Kamera liegt es zum Glück nicht, denn andere Objektive fokussieren ja korrekt) Ich bedanke mich sehr herzlich für hilfreiche Tips, Tricks und Hinweise. Christian

Price for 'True' LTM 35mm Summaran f2.8

Hi there, I've recently come into ownership of a mint Summaron 35mm 2.8 lens. After some quick research I believe it is the original ltm mount. There is no red dot, and the lens focuses down to 1m. It comes with the original caps, bubble and the lens hood. Its in mint condition. I will upload pictures shortly but just wondered in todays market whats a good average price these lenses go for? Hi all, Received my M9 recently, so I've been looking at ways to get all my old lenses 6bit coded. I've forgotten to change the lens selection almost every time I've changed lenses, it is getting quite anoying when it comes to post processing. First one I've coded is the CV 35mm Ultron ƒ/1.7. I got a chinese made (Kipon) screwmount adaptor from eBay with ready-milled slots for black dots to be drawn on. The only problem is that when mounted the lens is rotated about 30 degrees from where it should be on the body. Doesn't seen to affect the focus, but it's a little annoying. Is this a common problem? I'm thinking of getting the original Voigtlander adaptor milled, if that's possible somewhere here in the UK. The shots I've taken so far are here: Steve's M9 photos if anyone's interested.
