  1. Recently I left a camera bag under the seat on a flight from Seattle to Atlanta when I deboarded. Long story but I switched seats and it did not. I got off the plane and remembered but of course could not go back to retrieve it. After the plane was empty flight attendants went back to both seats and could not find the bag. In the bag was my Leica Tele-Elmarit type 2, f 2.8 with Fuji adapter and rear cap, rubber lens hood and Leica cap, Serial # 2967787, X Pro 1 Ser # 21A06330, 32 Gig Extreme SD card, lens pen, 18-55mm Fuji XF zoom Ser # 24646629 and all in small LowePro ready bag, the somewhat triangular type that allows quick access to the camera and only a little more storage. I have filed a report with Delta Airlines and the Atlanta authority. TSA does not take lost/stolen reports but directs all items to the airport authority. After 2 weeks - no luck. I remember some time ago, that Leica had a stolen equipment registry provided you filed authority reports. I did. But I do not find that registry now. Is there still such a beast? Perhaps forum members can direct me to the best methods of notifying the camera world of lost and stolen Leica and other equipment. I have heard that the EXIF data of the camera data can be tracked if someone posts a pic shot with the body. Has anyone tried this and has it worked? Are their any methods that have been successful in recovering such equipment?

  3. A few days ago i went to Torfhaus /Germany (800m above sealevel at the harz mountains about 20km away from home), not only for hiking but after that also to buy some hiking stuff. Bad weather -> means rainy, foggy about 3°Celsius. Actually it was a nice trip, and i got some nice weather sealded boots after all. I would not write these words if nothing else had happend... After all i went home by car but had to stop for a "natural break" - and i have lost my car key.... I have seearched for 30 minutes but did not find it, the weather went foggier and the "light" disappeared... my wife did not answer the phonecall, our daughters do not have a driving license (too young) and i still did not find the keys. So i called my father in law, i asked him to pick up the second key from home and bring it to me, giving him a detailed description where i was (somewhere in nowhwere)... Not to forget the keys.... i kept on searching but almost two and a half hour later a made my decision to have a last try finding the key, meanwhile using the flashlight of my iphone (don´t forget the scene in the rain and fog, and "Torf"haus is not a wrong word, in english Torf means peat, and the ground there is very wet.. the whole scene reminded me to the scene of James Bond and his birth place in Skyfall-> low colours, foggy, cold, rainy....) And just about two minutes (!) before my father in law arrived i really found the keys... with that i had a nice welcome to my father in law and we both drove home carefully (btw 2 car accidents on our way back home...) Of course the SL was with me and i had to take some pics ....
  4. I work for an airline and we found an M9 on one of our aircraft. I'm a photographer and am trying to find it's owner as i'm sure he's upset about losing it. It's all black and still had the plastic on the bottom it's so new. The serial number starts with (O or D) D95E. If it's yours you'll have to quote the rest of the serial number to prove it and tell us what you took pictures of on your trip to Canada. The camera was found in a Canadian City but we think the people who own it spent time in Whisler and Toronto. We think the person could be from Buenos Aires as they took a few pics of a billbord advertising that city. (just a thought) If you can help us reconnect this camera with it's owner I'm sure the owner will thank you.
  5. Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera It looks like most (all?) of Leica digital cameras are supported.
  6. I had an M7 (black) / Summicron 50mm lens stolen from me in paris last august. What is the best way to try to track it down. I filed a police report at the time but no luck. Any Ideas?
