Vain question / nitpick: I notice on certain Leica cameras the "logo screw" (in place of the red dot) is not at 45º, 180º, or 90º and that would annoy me. Is it possible to rotate the screw without loosening or tightening it, or is the final position pretty much set?

A polarizing question, but a fair one. If one wanted to replace the screw above the lens (on, say, M-P or M10R black paint) with the red (or black) dot logo sticker, is the hole as big as the original logo sticker? Is the screw flat so one could just put the sticker over it? I found no topic of this sort but if it has been answered please do link to the thread. Thank you for your civilized answers, please no dumb discussions of "why would anyone want to do that?" kind, it is an academic question. -
I just wondered: Is the red color in this forum meant to symbolize the color in the Leica logo? The forum color is very nice, but the real Leica red is much more "old fashioned" and pale (100% magenta and yellow in CMYK).

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any info that could help me. My name is Paul Wright and I am researching / trying to understand, the effect of how logo’s affect desirability, hence thinking of Leica. It's the 'red spot' logo that fascinates me. I have stories of people adding a red spot sticker to a camera so that people think it is Leica and other stories of people covering it so it appears to me that others don’t think they are showing off. Such a tiny, simple logo that has such sway is amazing to me. I can't seem to find a definitive when it was first used, who came up with it (if known at all), why they added it, etc. The first example I can find of it is on the S1 model in the mid 70’s with the name Leitz in it and from 1984 the M6 had Leica within the dot. Are these the earliest examples? What I really need help from though is expert’s thoughts on why/how it became so iconic for these cameras. I would love to hear any thoughts or theories from any informed sources on people who love these cameras. Have I come to the right place?

Hallo zusammen. Ich finde leider keine Antwort in bestehenden posts; kann mir jemand sagen, ob ich mit meiner M6 mit Leitz Logo einen höheren Verkaufspreis erzielen kann, als mit einer neueren, Leica gebrandeten Version? Danke und gut Licht!
