  1. after having those 2 cameras in 2 separate checked suitcases on 3 different flights, they do not work at all. The screen doesn't light up. Batteries are fully charged and i have tried different SD cards in both cameras. The display in the viewfinder on the M says SD. The shutter works, but only after toggling between the single- and multiexposure buttons. No images arrive on the card. I have tried 3 different lenses on the M. I cannot even reformat the cards because i cannot get to any of the menus. The screen on the X1 lights up a little when i switch it on but shows no messages at all. The M screen is totally dead. I fear that some process by the TSA (who opened at least one of our suitcases) may have zapped the electronics. Is there a way to reset the cameras (some weird 2- or 3-button reset like on my computer) without access to the screen and its menus? The M is only 6 weeks old and worked very well before i packed it. So did my wife's X1. I've been using Leicas for 40 years including pretty much all the electronic models. Next to the new M240, I shall keep my M8 and use it for b/w only. I travel a lot and usually check baggage with the camera inside as they are so heavy and security people (especially in the US) often freak out when they find a camera made from real metal.

  3. once a year we visit the city of Amsterdam. This time I carried all the equipment and the X1 served as backup. It was a pleasant sunny day and a few hours passed like just a moment. Just have a look and thanks for viewing. 4. Hallo zusammen! Was könnt ihr mir empfehlen? Was würdet ihr machen? Vielen Dank für eure Hilfe! Beste Grüße, Stefan
  5. I been thinking about getting an M8 and keep saving money for a lens, or to get an X1 now that prices of used ones has become more reasonable... But my main question is regarding the optical finder... Basically therr is no way to know what the camera is focusing, so considering it is a digital machine is there a possibility Leica (Panasonic) could make an electronic finder for it?? Just wondering. Regards, Ricardo
  6. Hi Guys, Lately I've been playing with my X1 exclusively manual mode (manual exposure and Manual Focal via hyper focal distance scale at f/8 mainly). My impression was that X1's shutter lag occurred because the camera was taking its time to meter and set the correct exposure. By setting all exposure parameters manually and manually pre-focusing, I thought I would get rid of the shutter lag, which is annoying to me, specially for street photography and candids. However, the shutter lag is still there. I believe the camera is still calculating the correct exposure, even though it does not need to do it in this case Anyone has a similar or different experience with this? Do you also believe the shutter lag is caused by a slow metering function? If so, it would be great if Leica could include in a firmware upgrade the possibility of "no metering at all" for those users who want to shoot completely manual and a not have the shutter lag.
