My first Leica R series camera. I picked this up the other day and am very excited to use it! I sent it to DAG camera repair and it should be in my hands next week! Don is doing a complete overhaul on the camera, plus modifying the metering system to accept a modern battery. What can you tell me about this camera?

Hallo zusammen Ich besitze M-Kameras und eine SL, neu möchte ich auch ins R-System einsteigen. Zu diesem Zweck kaufte ich mir eine Leicaflex SL2. Nun ist die Frage, welches das beste Objektiv dafür ist. Auf einer Webseite wurde das 50mm Summicron-R f2 II empfohlen (Artikel Nr 11215). Nun ist es gar nicht so einfach, dieses Objektiv zu finden. Häufiger sehe ich die Artikel Nr. 11216, welche auch als 50mm Summicron-R f2 II bezeichnet wird. Was ist der Unterschied zwischen diesen beiden Versionen und welche ist besser? Ist das 11216 auch mit der Leicaflex SL2 kompatibel und könnt ihr es empfehlen? Danke für eure Hilfe und lieber Gruss David

Hi ! I need your help and knowledge I own a leicaflex SL and the Sl 2 black. The leicaflex SL that I own is in really neat condition but the weak part of those model is the red plastic lens lock button. And this piece snapped in two this week. (see pictures attached). The screw and the sping attached to the red button are intact. (see pictures) I am looking for a replacement' s piece, I do know it's a common thing on those model to have this weak part to snap. I read somewhere that a METAL LENS LOCK BUTTON has been created and distributed for the Leica SL as a replacement for this common issue. But i can't seem to easily find it online (US or EUROPE market - I'm From France). Do you guys know where I can find a spare leicaflex lens lock button ? Is there a 3D printed 's piece maybe ? If someone is recreating leica pieces through 3d model to share Thanks a million ! Regards B.

Hallo Leicaexperten, ich besitze eine LEICAFLEX, die ehemals meinem Großvater gehörte. Die Kamera trägt die Seriennummer 108019, was meinen Informationen nach auf ein Vorserienmodell schließen ließe. Allerdings dürfte sie dann, sofern ich dies (äußerst dürftig) im Internet nachrecherchiert habe keinen "LEICAFLEX" - Schriftzug tragen.. Bei näherer Betrachtung tun sich weitere Ungereimtheiten auf, so hat die Kamera beispielsweise einen M42 Objektivanschluss. Dieser scheint jedoch nachträglich (und nicht sehr fachmännisch) angepasst worden zu sein. So weit ich mich erinnern kann, stammt die Kamera aus der Räumung des Dacora - Kamerawerks in Grafenwöhr. Dort wurde sie, wie ich vermute, zu Testzwecken zerlegt, was einige Kratz- und Hebelspuren, sowie deutlich beanspruchte Schrauben beweisen. Vll. weiß ja irgendjemand aus der Expertenfraktion, was es damit auf sich hat! Grüße & Danke!

Hey dear Leica community, I recently got two offers for two Leica cameras. The first one is a Leicaflex (The original one, no TTL) with a Summicron 50mm f/2 (V1) and the second offer was a Leica R4 with a 35-70 f/3.5. I even got an offer for a Leica R3 (Made in Germany!) for around the same price. All cameras (inculding the lens) are somewhere from 250€ - 300€ (245$-290$) Which one should I buy, I am very new to the Leica world, since I mainly used Nikon yet. Or should i sell my whole Nikon System to get a Leica M camera? Greetings from Germany

Cleaning my archives & found the legendary FoMag Second Hand Guide (distributed by the popular German magazine Foto Magazin) from exactly 20 years ago (August 2002). Adding the facsimile of the relevant pages 😉 that will surely be of interest in comparison to 2022. All prices are in euros.

Advice please, I have a Leicaflex. I am under the impression that 3 cam lenses (except 24 mm ) will work with it. I find that on later (but non rom ) lenses the aperture ring is stiff as it rubs against the camera. I tried a 1.4 85 and it was hard to turn the aperture ring, like wise a 3 cam 1.4 50mm. Put on a SL2 battery cover didn't help No problem with my early generation 50m cron. Am I doing something wrong? So the question is there a 1.4 lens for the Leicaflex I can use without this sticky aperture problem In advance thanks Adam -
Ich habe davon gehört, dass es die Leicaflex möglicherweise gleich zu Beginn mit dem Doppelschwungaufzug gegeben haben soll. Weiß jemand darüber Bescheid? In Solms hat man die Unterlagen nicht mehr. Besten Dank

Good day to all! Perhaps this topic has not been discussed, or it was too narrow and scattered. In any case, I would like to invite owners Leicaflex (original version, Mark I & II) to share experiences on later editions R-lens to the body Leicaflex. I know that not all R-lenses 1-2-3 cam could be used. If you have experience - please note the name of the lenses that you just used to Original Leicaflex except classical lenses mentioned in the manual. Just wanted to know, are compatible with Original Leicaflex: Leica R Vario-Elmar 28-70mm 3-Cam and other young 3-cam zoom-lenses. Thanks!

Salve, I’ve broken open my Leicaflex SL2 and I’m stuck with a stuck meter needle. I’m wondering if the wonderfully knowledgeable people here have ideas how to proceed. One day the meter suddenly stopped working. The needle was just out of view and wouldn’t come down for either the meter switch or the battery test. I confirmed with an ohm meter that the circuits seem to be working. So I carefully took the top off and popped the prism out and it seems as if the needle is stuck, just out of view. It jiggles ever so slightly when I activate the meter. How could this have happened, and what can I do? Taking the whole meter assembly out looks prohibitively complicated. FYI, I commenced with the repair myself very hesitatingly, because I cannot afford a professional repairman. Last year I fixed my Summilux at home, which saved me about 250 euros right there. Moin Zusammen ! Neulich konnte ich eine wunderschöne, insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene und funktionstüchtige Leicaflex (2) erwerben. Sie ist wirklich wunderschön, denn das Gehäuse scheint mir, obwohl etwas schwerer als die SL, doch in den Proportionen ausgewogener (nicht so hoch + schöne verchromte Einstellräder). Nur, mir ist aufgefallen, daß die meisten meiner R-Objektive mit 3-cam Anschluß sich nicht, oder schwer anschließen lassen, weil der solide Batteriefachdeckel das nicht immer zuläßt, bzw der Blenden-Einstellring daran schleift. Gibt es dafür Abhilfe ? Vielleicht einen anderen Batteriefachdeckel, der etwas schmaler ist ? Man könnte ja einfach ein Stück abdremeln, aber das möchte ich dem schönen Stück eigentlich nicht antun. I have recently been in correspondence with David Young, a director of the Leica Historical Society of America. I sent him a scan of a manual he did not have. He hosts a very wide range of Leica manuals here David Young's Photosite. He said he is currently looking for scans of Leicaflex and Leicaflex SL manuals. If anyone has a manual that they could send me scans or digital photographs (JPEG's, PDF's, DNG's or pretty much anything else), I will use Acrobat Pro to assemble them into a booklet and forward them to him. If you cannot scan them, you are in Europe and are willing to lend me your Leicaflex/SL manual, I would be happy to scan them for you and then return the manual to you.
