Over the last months, I got to know my TL2 quite well. And overall, I am very pleased with the results that I get. Sometimes the TL2 firmware is not well behaved, but I found a workaround that I can live with for most issues. Now, because I use lots of M and R lenses on both my SL and TL2, I finally caved in and bought a M-L adapter. Until now, I was using a mechanical adapter, but both SL and TL2 will not record any lens profile to EXIF, even if you choose one. On my SL, I can see all profiles available for M and R lenses. On my TL2 (firmware 1.5) I never saw such a list. Thinking it must be because I do not have the native M-L adapter, and knowing the info will not be saved anyway, I did not bother. Now, WITH the native Leica M-L adapter, the TL2 still not shows any list for the M lens profiles ?! Any coded M lens is registered correctly, but I would like to chose the profile manually like I can on my SL for my uncoded lenses. Am I missing something here?

hello TL/CL owners, Firstly, thank you for all your threads - I’ve learnt a lot by reading through them. I’m new to the system, indeed, to a serious camera such as the TL2 that I recently picked up at a good price, after years of admiring from a distance. I wasn’t aware that it had been discontinued. However, this forum has assured me that it remains a decent option that continues to have mileage. My only other experience with Leica was a D-Lux 4 back in 2009. It has always been my intention to familiarise myself with the variables, such as aperture, ISO, shutter speed, etc. But I never really progressed beyond Automatic Focus. Committing myself to the TL2 meant that I had to understand all this. The camera body on its own isn’t sufficient; I needed a lens, obviously. The Leica store in London signposted me to MPB and I picked up a Vario-Elmar TL 18-56mm, f.3.5-5.6 ASPH lens in decent condition and for an accessible price. I figured that this would be a good start point to get familiar with the camera. And it is. Took it with me to Marrakech recently and enjoyed playing with it; although got a sense of its limitations, too. The more I read up on the Summilux TL 35mm, f.1.4 ASPH lens, the more I wondered if this would be the better option if I had to limit myself to one lens. Certainly, there’s a thread dedicated to this topic. One came up on eBay recently and I bought it. Now I need to decide if I trade in the Vario-Elmar for, say, a Visoflex viewfinder. Admittedly, not the most crucial addition for a TL camera but I’d feel bad having used the 18-56mm and then returning it for a full refund. Aesthetically, the Summilux is a stunner, isn’t it. It’s also significantly heavier/ bulkier than the Vario-Elmar. I guess that I’d gotten used to the latter when on that recent trip. My question is, can the Summilux do everything that the Vario-Elmar does? Or does the latter, which has a smaller form, and is therefore lighter - have any advantage over the Summilux? The reason I ask what may be an obvious answer to the more experienced photographer is that I took a photo with both lenses last night and feel that the Vario-Elmar provides more detail than the Summilux (3rd pic below; first two are the 35mm). It may be that I need to understand how to use the Summilux better. I’d love to keep both but can’t afford to. Your thoughts/ insights, etc; would be much appreciated.

i have the lumix s-50mm, i use it with the SL with excellent results. By curiosity I mounted it on the CL and the battery does not like this lens at all and drains very quickly. The firmware is 4.0... Mounted on the TL2, it is particularly noisy, the diaphragm works permanently as with the 23 summicron but scratching a bit... I'm interested to have your feedback on these 2 points.

Hi. I've just found this forum last night. Nice to meet you all. I have LEICA TL2 with 18-56 kit lens. I used LUMIX before so I'm quite new with Leica please suggest me. 1. My photos with Leica TL2 (auto focus) some are quite soft at focus. Right now, I use spot focus > half press > adjust the composition and press the shutter. Some photo is OK. Some is out of focus. Please suggest me about how I should do with setting autofocus/shutter mode (touch af/spot etc. and AFS or AFC). Is it a must to use manual focus? If you have any technics to share, please teach me. 2. I'm interested to buy a fixed lens. I prefered the light-weighted and compact lens for travelling and capture everyday's life. I'm comparing between Sigma 30 mm. or Leica TL 23 mm. Which one you guys recommended? I really love the Leica neutral color that I took with 18-56 kit lens (as photo that I attached). Leica lens might be the same result, however, sigma seems easier to use. I'm not sure if I use Sigma lens, it will effect with the color tone or not. If anyone who use TL2 and have these lenses, please post your photos (with neutral color must be very very appreciated). I'm waiting for you all reply. Please share what you think and suggest me.
