  1. This fort is an attraction for it is 1000 years old, never belonged to a rule but the people and was never conquered. From my home it is only a 15 minutes walk and many poeple come here during daytime and also enjoy the evenings and the view over the city. Sunset is always nice to enjoy. Leica R3, Elmarit 28 mm
  2. Hey dear Leica community, I recently got two offers for two Leica cameras. The first one is a Leicaflex (The original one, no TTL) with a Summicron 50mm f/2 (V1) and the second offer was a Leica R4 with a 35-70 f/3.5. I even got an offer for a Leica R3 (Made in Germany!) for around the same price. All cameras (inculding the lens) are somewhere from 250€ - 300€ (245$-290$) Which one should I buy, I am very new to the Leica world, since I mainly used Nikon yet. Or should i sell my whole Nikon System to get a Leica M camera? Greetings from Germany
  3. I have just developed a film from a new-to-me Leica R3 (1978). Unfortunately the film was marred by a light leak, so my hope to evaluate auto-exposure accuracy can not really be performed before I have dealt with leak. It is a minor fix but I can't do it if I want to return the camera. My return window is closing soon and before making my decision, I would like to ask R3 owners about an observation I have made: The meter needle seem to be accurate compared with a hand held reference meter, BUT relatively slow in responding to changes in light (or changes in aperture). I understand the R3 is equipped with relatively slow CdS cells, but the needle in my older Nikkormat EL (1974) - also CdS cells - responds notably faster. Now if the electronics of auto-exposure works independent of the visual needle readout - it wouldn't bother me, but if I have to wait 2 seconds when I bring the camera to the eye, it would be a problem. Any R3 owners out there who could shed a little light on what kind of responsiveness/behaviour I should expect from the meter?
  4. 8 May 1979 is the day that I bought my very first Leica, an R3. It is this camera that started my serious love and passion for photography and Leica. It had a very active life in its early years and has taken some of my favourite images. It has not been used for some years now, but it is in lovely condition and still works perfectly. I love this camera and would never part with it. I have taken some birthday pictures of it. See if you can spot the image taken with an M8. Here's to the next 30 years. Mark
