Hello fellow M8 users, I am very happy to announce that I finished the tool mentioned in the thread M8 goes uncompressed DNG! It creates 16bit (acually 14bit in a 16bit container) DNG files from the M8 RAW files with slightly more pixels and much more discrete values compared to the 8bit standard DNG. I even set up a website with download, comment function, contact form and whatnot... even though I am really not familiar with web programming so please be lenient if it is not as polished as this site here for example. The command-line tool is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, so I am now looking forward to getting some input after you tested it on your own files. You can find more information on m8raw2dng.de. I am trying to make the program as good as possible (because I am using it myself on a daily basis). To achieve this I thought it clever to share it with the community even though I had to create a completely new software from scratch in C++ even though I already have a running version in Matlab with more functionality. But I think that'll change as I focus now on the C++ version. I invite you to share this information with other M8 users on other forums, flickr groups, wherever you like. Guten Morgen, ich wollte nur mal kurz anfragen, in welchen Bereichen sich die M8.2 preislich aktuell bewegt. Die M8 rangiert ja so um die 1000 €, wieviel Aufpreis ist für die 8.2 gerechtfertigt Vielen Dank

So recently bought an M8 from eBay, price is not too bad but that’s because there is no back screen glass top, LCD panel flawless, just no top glass. So seller put a GIOTTOS Schott glass on top of the LCD panel, tiny tiny smaller than the original glass, it’s not been attached but suspended on top of LCD cause there is ridge all around it. I’m wondering if there is still any Leica M8 OG screen window on the market? Or even after market one? Kinda worry about this because it’s actually not fully sealed as photo shown, but the GIOTTOS screen protector seems pretty solid tho. Or maybe as a 17 yrs old camera, I just leave it there as it is, no break no fix? I’m not an adventure guys, just bought this camera for family shoting or road trip. need help guys! Thank you!

Hallo liebes Forum, ich bin relativ neu hier im Forum und wende mich an das Forum mit folgendem Anliegen: Ich habe von meinem Vater eine Leica M5 und diverse Objektive (Summilux 1:1.4/50, Elmarit M 2.8/21, Summaron 3.5/35) geerbt. Zunächst kam mir in den Sinn diese Objektive mit einer Fuji X oder einer Sony alpha zu nutzen. Allerdings tendiere ich immer mehr dazu, eine M8 zu kaufen, auch wenn diese immer noch nicht ganz billig ist. Die M5 ist in einem guten Zustand, da ich nicht mehr analog fotografiere, würde ich diese gerne verkaufen und hoffen, dass sie ein wenig zusteuern kann zu der M8. Ist das Gebrauchtmarktforum hierfür eine gute Wahl? Wie sind Eure Erfahrungen mit alten alten Leicaobjektiven an der M8? Schönes WE!

I experimented with IR photography using my Elmarit 28/2.8 on the M8. I realized that this lens appears to cause a significant hot spot under IR conditions, especially with apertures 8 and up. Can you please share your experience with other lenses on the M8 when using for IR photography? Thanks! Ralph

Hello Everyone I have an M8 and M9. I use the M8 mainly for infrared and as a backup when travelling. I want to buy the M 240 for all sorts of reasons ..... but money is a little tight and I would benefit from trading in either the M8 or M9 ( or both ). I have found the M9 to be very poor as an IR camera, but the M8 is superb. I think I want to end up with the M 240 and the M9 - but I don't want to give up shooting infrared photos. Can anyone please tell me how the M 240 performs as an IR camera. If I could get really good IR from the M 240, I could let the M8 go more easily ...... Many Thanks

Liebes M8 Forum, Seit nun 4 Monaten fotografiere ich mit großen Freuden mit meiner M8. Ich bin immer wieder erstaunt wie herrausragend die Bildqualität, trotz 11-jähriger Technik ist. Bisher habe ich mit dem 28mm Elmarit(Kanadische Fertigung) fotografiert bin damit auch immer noch sehr zufrieden. Nun hätte ich, gerne ein lichtstarkes Objektiv, welches mit dem Crop Faktor 50mm entspricht. Genutzt soll es hauptsächlich offendblendig werden um auch im Dunkeln zufotografieren. Desweitern sollte es nicht mehr als 600€ kosten. Damit fällt leider sehr viel weg. Bisher hatte ich folgendes auf meiner Liste: Voigtländer 40mm 1.4 Canon 50mm 1.2 ltm 7Artisans 50mm 1.1 Zeiss Sonar 50mm 1.5 Bisher tendiere ich sehr stark zudem Voigtländer, da es ein ziemlich gutes Objektiv ist und die andere alle über 50mm hinausschießen und ich bei 75 lande. Bevor ich mich wirklich entscheide wollte ich nochmal euch fragen. Was würdet ihr empfehlen, z.B. ob es Preiswerte 35mm in dieser Klasse gibt etc. Ich freue mich auf eure Rückmeldung Lg

Guten Abend Leica Forum, ich bin seit einiger Zeit auf der Suche nach einer Leica M8/8.2. Bisher habe ich dafür Ebay oder Ebay-Kleinanzeigen genutzt. Leider sind entweder alle Angebot meiner Meinung nach zuteuer oder zuschnalle vergriffen. Ich werde dort weiter suchen aber, wollte fragen ob ihr mir auch andere Orte empfehlen könnt. Egal ob Online oder nicht. Sollte nur nicht allzu weit von Frankfurt entfernt sein. Vielen Lieben dank schonmal im Vorraus. Liebe Grüße Flo

I have a question - is there any way to jpg files from Leica M8 (v 2.024) reminded jpg Leica M9? Will exposure to -2/3, color: medium (example?)? Please help. I love the colors jpg with the M9. What can I set in my M8? Has anyone tried, maybe some settings will resemble the saturation of the M9?

15.09.2006 -15.09.2016 - 10 Jahre M8 to whom it may concern: Es wundert mich das der Temin "15.09." hier im Forum so spurlos vorbeigegangen ist. An diesem Tag vor 10 Jahren wurde die Leica M8 vorgestellt. Nicht die erste elektronische Messsucherkamera mit M -Anschluss aber die erste von Leica . Happy Birthday M8 !

Hi guys , recently i bought an M8 . And it has some color problems which black fabric looks magenta , so i was wondering if the UV/haze filters can solve this problem ? Thank you.
