  1. I did a little video about my Leica M6 and the way I use it daily. Feel free to check it out:
  2. Hi everyone ! I’m very happy to be part of the family of the Leica now, I just received my very first Leica. I decided to purchased this M4 in a stunning condition. The thing is the next day I realised that was something little bit « strange » just between the flash bulb and the backdoor (check the picture), that there is a part of the top plate looks bent a little, is not huge on the picture but you can notice it and the backdoor is clicking a little bit as well.. Do you think that is normal or it could be an issue? I would appreciate any recommendations Thank y’all !
  3. Hi, I have Leica M6 Classic and I have only one lens - Summicron M 50 (V5). Nifty fifty is my preferable focal length and this particular lens is perfect for me.Despite of this I feel the need to have another wider lens for some particular occasions - when walk in stretch streets and want to catch wider space, buildings, but mainly would give a try it for street phototherapy of people. Is there somebody else who started with 50mm lens and bought as second lens 28mm? I wrote here, because I’m interested mainly the feedback from analog users.
  5. Taken in my home town. I found the Agfa quite grainy in Adox FX39 so will change to Microphen as a trial. The grain is no major problem as I can reduce it in Lightroom but it would be if I wanted to go larger than maybe 25x20cm. Leica M6 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 - Agfa APX400 Gerry
  6. I am still editing images taken on my visits to Paris. This is the latest to be chosen. Taken on Tri-X in 1999 using an M6 with a 50mm Summicron f2 lens. You can see my 'Streets of Paris' portfolio at https://gwpics.myportfolio.com/the-streets-of-paris I am hoping to get a book together in the relatively near future, so comments are welcome. Gerry
  7. Hi everyone, I have Leica M6 and Summicron M (V) 50mm. I see that in many of my close up portraits the focus is on the noose, but not on the eyes or oposite.I have focus on one spot of the face and another is missing. I have checked my DOF calculator and I see that if the subject is at 1m from me and I got aperture 2, 2.8, 4 the focus is only in one spot 1m - 1m.If I switch to f/5.6 the focus depth becomes 0.9m -1.1m which is 20cm difference good enough to have all head in focus. Please, share your experience on this matter.
  8. I have used Leica m240 for a while, and recently have bought Leica M6 as recommended by my friend, the last time I shot a film was almost 20 years ago (it was a school event, where we had to learn how to shoot film); but since then, my photography experience is pretty much always digital. I travelled to Copenhagen last weekend, and decided to give myself a bit of challenge, so I only took my Leica M6 with couple rolls of Fuji C200; the metering and focusing are pretty much identical between M240 and M6; so it was not that hard for me to use the camera, having said that, without the ability to view the image straight-away did take me out of the comfort zone as I had no idea how the image would look like. Followings are some of the images i would like to share, those are small default scans from the film developers, so the resolution is pretty low, i'm currently exploring options of scanning those negatives using my other digital cameras. Anyway, any C&C is welcomed.
  9. Hey Guys, I wanted to buy a used leica since months now. But I am still unsure if I should go with the M6 or the M4? The only big difference is that the M6 has a lightmeter and the M4 not. But since I work in the film industry. I wanted to buy a separate light meter anyway at some point. So is it better to go with the cheaper M4 and get also a good lens instead of spending a lot on the M6? Looking forward to your replies Best Thomas

    Taking a moment

This is from my archive of images taken on a trip to Marrakesh, Morocco. Leica M6 + 50mm Summicron f2. Home-processed Ilford HP5+. Post processing in Lightroom Classic. Gerry
  11. Hello to all, I would like to request your help/advice. I currently own and use a Nikon F3, but feel the need for something new to help with street/travel photography. After doing a fair bit of research I have come up with buying either the M5 or the M6ttl. I can't actually go to a store and handle these cameras and I will be buying online, I am drawn to the M5 but the worry is I am buying something bigger than my F3 when I am looking for something less intimidating when on the street? however the shutter dial and viewfinder look like great additions. With the M5 it seems the Shutter speed in the viewfinder would also be useful and perhaps better than the LED's in the M6? Could anybody who owns an M5 post some size comparison photos to give me some idea of what it looks like next to the F3? How Do you find the M6 TTL, LED system? I will be predominantly using a 35mm and 50mm lens to start with. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated, Thanks !
  12. Hi, I'm new here and I created my account because I desperately need help with this and would be grateful for any help I've been using my M6 for some time now and everything has been functioning perfectly However, when I bought some new batteries for it, the light meter would stop working, while if I put the old batteries back in, everything would work again. The batteries I have tested include, LR44 alkaline battery from energizer, and a CR-1/3N lithium battery. If anyone has any idea what the problem could be, and if there are any possible fixes, it would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Photos from a day spent hiking around the mountains near my hometown. All shot with my Leica M6, 35mm Summicron IV and on Kodak Portra 400 film. Would love to see you over on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_philippw._/
  14. Shot this with my then newly acquired yet lovely beat up M6 classic. Expired Konica film and 50 cron. Walked into a tailor shop and snapped one of his creations. Something about this capture that works for me.
  15. Hi all! Happy to be part of this group! I am really looking forward to the analog Leica rangefinder experience. I just shot my first roll of film this weekend and picked up my scans. However, I was a bit underwhelmed when I saw some artifacts that shouldn't have been there. I'm not sure what it is as I am unfamiliar with analog, so I thought it might be best to attach photos to describe what I'm seeing. I am curious to know if my copy of the M6 is defective, and what part is. First example, the bottom half of the photo is blacked out. What would be the cause for this? https://flic.kr/p/Z8c3YN Second Image, you can trace a faint blue line going from the center person's left calve all the way up past the dog's right eye: https://www.flickr.com/photos/101100257@N04/36814955114/sizes/l Third Image: Similar situation, a faint blue line going across the center (most obvious from his right arm): https://www.flickr.com/photos/101100257@N04/36814953464/sizes/l Fourth, is this light leaking from the top left corner? https://flic.kr/p/Y6dj47 I would greatly appreciate your insight. My gear: Leica M6 classic, Zeiss Biogon 35/2 Film: Fujifilm Fujicolor 200

    Devotion

Taken in 2001 on a visit to Vienna using a Leica M6 and 50mm Summicron-M f2. Film is Kodak T400CN which was my favourite film because it was pretty much grain-free and easy to get processed. Post-processed in LRCC. Gerry
  18. Paris has always been a special place for street photography for me and, although I haven't been there for far too long, I try and emulate the work of its' great photographers such as HC-B, Robert Doisneau and (dare I say) Peter Turnley. For me it is like fishing on a great trout stream in that you are always bound to have a good catch. This was taken in 2000 using my M6 and Kodak T-Max 400 film home processed. I think it was with the 50mm Summicron lens, although I can't be 100% sure. Gerry

    Lancôme

From the archives - Brittany, France. Leica M6 + 50mm Summicron f2. Film is Kodak T400CN commercially processed. Gerry
  20. From my 'Paris' portfolio. Taken on an M6 using Kodak T400CN film commercially processed. I am sorry but all lens details have been lost, but probably a 50mm Summicron f2. Gerry
  21. Because of the covid-19 lockdown I am unable to go out on to the streets to photograph, not that there are any people around. I am therefore still working through my archives, and came across this image from Paris in 2002. Taken with a Leica M6, 50mm Summicron f2 and using Kodak T400CN film (which I used to love!). I hope you like it. I have also been revamping my web site using Adobe Portfolio, which is part of the Lightroom/Photoshop package, and like the results so far, although it is a work in progress. Take a look here Gerry
  22. Hi everyone, I'm a new Leica user and bought an M6 Classic with a Leitz Summicron 2.0. The first roll came back blurry and I thought it was my shooting..then the second and third and so on. I sent my lens in to Keh (where I had gotten it) to be serviced and it came back with the same results. The images are generally overexposed when in very sunny conditions and all of them are very softly focused. I shot most of a roll at f16 and not one thing was in focus. I don't think it could be the lens, as it just came back from being properly adjusted so I'm wondering if it could be the body? I'm not sure what to do as I've spent my budget on this setup. I was going to send it in to get the VF upgrade because I was experiencing some flaring but that is not what is happening here. Any tips very much appreciated.
  23. I am just working through some transparency work and scanning it on to the computer. I was particularly pleased with this one which was taken in 1999 on Kodachrome 64 using a Leica M6. Scanning was with a Plustek 8200i, and post was with LT Classic. I think it is amazing how the work we have just put away into a filing cabinet etc. has stood the test of time, and before there is "ah, well it is Kodachrome" some Fuji Provia RDP is just as good.
