Hello Everyone!!! I am new to this so sorry if this topic has been already discussed. But I did not find anything in particular when using the search function. My dad is going to buy a Leica camera, probably M9 and I would like to buy him a very nice leather camera case to it as it is his birthday coming up. Does anyone have an idea where to buy one? Any nice recommendations especially regarding quality. By camera case I mean the "ready to shoot" things and not the bag or box you carry around with you. Cheers and thank you in advance!!! Ben

I bought a used Ever Ready leather case (p/n 14505) for my M6TTL. Has anyone glued or sewn replacement straps that hold the lower snap on each side of the case? I'm looking for experienced suggestions before I take the case to my local shoemaker. He'll repair it so that it won't need a new sole or heel for years! What is the purpose of the thick insert glued into the bottom of the case? It seems that it unnecessarily makes the case larger than it needs to be. Thanks. Fred

so, my first leica ever and I am already messing it up )) I got this M3 produced in 1955. just a few weeks ago and it was doing well not doing much in a leather pouch in someones basement. Started shooting with it and fell in love like a girl. Shortly after pulling the camera out of that leather pouch and carrying it around unprotected the vulcanite started to fall apart... Didn't have time to wait for new skin as I am going to the states in two weeks (i live in Croatia) so I just re skinned it myself... few pics... you can see the cracked vulcanite here... Scraped it down... after that comes the removal of old glue... and the temporary new skin... I used this leather for my girlfriends tobacco pouch so now they match... not really sure why I did that... she won't be using this camera )) I wouldn't do this for someone else, I just needed to fix it in a hurry... a lot of small mistakes but here it is... cheers, S

Hi, I've been trawling the web sites for a a new camera bag. I need something relatively small to carry an MP 240 with lens and spare lens (noctilux size), plus enough room for phone and little bits and bobs. Just wondered if any of you had any recommendations. I've looked at Ona bags and not keen on having something looking like a satchel..would like something classic, Quality leather and not bulky. Any suggestions gratefully received.....I'm based in the Uk. Thanks.

I recently bought a one-owner M3 DS with a DR Summicron from an estate in Chicago. The camera and kit are absolutely lovely. The only issue is that the vulcanite was flaking off with every time it was handled. I finished peeling it all off, mostly with my fingernail, and cleaned the remaining adhesive off the body with acetone. I ordered a dark blue leather replacement cover from Morgan at cameraleather.com. He was responsive and helpful and I had the new leather in my hands in about five days from the date of order. Exceptional service! And the leather... oh my... it's gorgeous. Total install time was about ten minutes, and that with me trial-fitting it and figuring out how I was going to do the install. It went perfectly. it was simple and easy. And I think it looks amazing! My first M body was an M3 in 1974 that I promptly traded back in for an M2 that developed a severe case of fungus when I lived on Guam. Since then I've had an M4-2, M4-P a couple of M4s and another M3 or two (and an M8 and M9P.) My vision got so I couldn't focus the M4-P/M8/M9P well any more so I sold them in 2016. A conversation with a friend recently about the 1:1 finder in the M3 and the differences from the later finders got me to wondering if it was different enough that I could still use one, and much to my surprise, I can see the focusing patch quite well in the M3. It pleases me to have an M again.

Hi all New to forum. I just bought some used 10x25 Trinovid BC, which have the leather covering, rather than the BCA Rubber version. I just wondered if it is possible to work out the age from the Serial number? (Mine is 1433082) This is what I have been told about them, not sure how much is accurate - please help if you know different: Optical coatings or Phase correction in the BCs was updated about 1990? Apparently an original single fixture was used for the neck strap originally, before being updated to dual side lugs - which coincided with optical update. I am due to collect these tomorrow and would like to know if I am looking through the latest optical version when assessing them - (I am sure they will be good whichever) Mant thanks Scoob

Proudly show your Leica M that is not regular out-of-the-store leather/skin. Possibly tell where you had it done. Here is mine. Factory replaced in Wetzlar.

I bought this old Leica case off craigslist for not much, hoping to kick start a Leica collection, and I'm having trouble figuring out its model. There are only a handful of forms and websites that have information on a cases like this, but I have yet to find information relevant to the configuration of my case. Its obviously in very rough shape, most likely missing many parts, only hindering my search for information on it. Anyways I was hoping you guys could help me out! I'm very new to this form, so forgive me for my being ill-informed on the topic.
