  1. Seeing if anyone has felt with this issue. I unboxed a new M10M and put on a new 21mm Super Elmar 3.4 both purchased from B+H. I am seeing a strange small lightness in the top-left corner of the frame in the LCD in live view and in "play" or review mode. (It almost looks like a light leak.) I took a few cap on photos including body cap only photos and it doesn't seem to show up when reviewing the files on the computer but is apparent when viewing on the rear LCD. So I have deduced this is a screen issue. While it is minor and doesn't seem to effect the file , for the cost I would like this to function perfectly. My Q never had this problem and has taken a beating all around the world. I am considering going down to the LA Leica store and having them look at it as I don't want to deal with B&H's long return process and I am supposed to be shooting in Eastern Europe in 2 weeks. Did I just get a bad screen? Thanks in advance for any input.
  2. Hi guys, So today I went out shooting, it was in the afternoon, like an hour or so before sunset time. I found out that a few times when I turned my M10-P on, and my camera was facing the grounds, LV was on, and the LCD started to flicker like it was indoors, but if I moved my camera towards the blue sky, the flicker went away. I was using manual modes and the exposure setting was definitely underexposured. My LCD brightness setting was Auto. Have you seen same thing on your M? Is it normal?
  3. Passing through Singapore in December for a month in S. E. Asia I had a sudden attack of G.A.S. I had with me just an M8 with the old 24mm Elmarit-m asph (and a 35mm summilux asph and the 75mm summicron), and I found that both the Leica shop and Cathay Camera in Singapore had the 24mm summilux in stock!! I was very tempted, particularly as the recent price rise was just around the corner. Happily I managed to resist. But it came very close to being an expensive shopping trip. I used the elmarit-m a lot on the trip, and didn't miss the extra two stops. After taking around 500 undistinguished pictures with it, I'm glad I didn't splash out on the summilux. There will be future opportunities, of course. After the trip, I've found that the M8, which I have not used very much since I bought it three years ago has developed a white stripe around 1-2mm thick down the RHS of its LCD screen. It's no real problem, and I think I'll just live with it. This is the third minor problem the camera has had: when new its clock did not work; later it developed the coffee ring on the LCD; now the white stripe. I had the first two repaired under warranty, but I think I'll not bother with this issue until something makes a repair unavoidable. All the best, John
  4. So.... i only got the Leica M 240 a week ago and after i took it to a trip to Korea, I find this line going across the images. So I thought it was memory card. Swapped it for a new one. Same problem. Now I thought it was the actual LCD monitor that was the problem. Nope. When I was in LiveView, the line isn't there. Weird. So now it's getting shipped to Solms (teardrop) and have to wait for 6-8 weeks. The reason why I am posting this is because I couldn't find other Leica M owners who had this problem (yes, with other models but not for the new M). Please share your pain with me here if you have the same problem as me. http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p729/christianpsu/1_zpsbfb2500d.jpg
  5. Dear All, Begin new to everything Leica (and Lightroom) I am posting my first thread. I recently bought a M9. For now I have two questions (and many more lurking in the back of my mind): - When working in Lightroom 2.6, in the navigator there are several standard settings to zoom in on a picture (1:1, 1:4, 1:3, 1:2, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 8:1 and 11:1). Can someone explain to me which zoom equals a 100% crop? - The other thing is that I noticed that when I zoom in I can clearly see the individual pixels from 2:1 onwards (working in Lightroom 2.6 on a DNG compressed picture). However, when I take a look at the same picture on the LCD screen of my camera I can zoom in much further, in fact right up to maximum, and still not be able to see the individual pixels. Why is that? Thanks, Martin
  6. I just noticed my M8 developed this problem a couple of days ago, whilst reviewing images on the screen. More obvious on bright scenes. The camera's been used sparingly over the last 2 months or so and have been in a camera bag most of the time, in cool conditions. Yesterday, I sent it back to my Leica dealer and the immediately took it in to be sent back to Leica UK. I guess this is due to poor supplier of the glass or installation and is a known fault? Have never come across this problem having owned so many digital cameras over the years.
