  1. This is a very old image of mine that I always come back to. I was walking the streets of Bielefeld and enjoying long exposure photography. I did not know what to expect. It felt like making music.
  2. I noticed on Amazon (US) that the Kodak V90 appears to have a favorable comparison to some of the more prominent brands and wonder if you have any experience with it. The price seems lower than Sandisk (V90) but higher than Transcend (apples to apples specs) and I am not even sure if I would benefit from a V90 vs. V60 on my CL. Obviously, the V60 cards are significantly lower cost compared to V90's. I use my CL primarily for photos but do not want to lose the video option just because the V60 is cheaper. Cheers, M

  10. A small series I did on the Austrian tradition of "Almabtrieb". This is just a selection of pictures from the full series here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/derphilipppp/albums/72157659340180141 Leica M6 - 35mm Summicron IV - Kodak Portra 160 In case you don't know what an "Almabtrieb" is: The "Almabtrieb", which translates from German as: "drive from the mountain pasture", is an annual event in the alpine regions in Europe, referring to a cow train in autumn. During summer, all over the alpine regions cow herds feed on alpine pastures ("Almen" or "Alpen") high up in the mountains (a practice known as transhumance). In numbers, these amount to about 500,000 cows in Austria, 380,000 in Switzerland and 50,000 in Germany. While there is often some movement of cattle between the Almen during the summer, there is usually one concerted cow train in autumn to bring the cows to their stables down in the valley. This typically takes place in late September or early October. If there were no accidents on the Alm during the summer, in many areas the cows are decorated elaborately, and the cow train is celebrated with music and dance events in the towns and villages. Upon arrival in the valley, joint herds from multiple farmers are sorted in the Viehscheid, and each cow is returned to its owner. 21. Few weeks ago, I use my M9-P compared to Kodak 35mm film (Portra 160 & 800). Honestly, I don't think how good is M9 series image performance, but the CCD do makes M9 series become the unique one in Leica digital camera. M9-P w/Summicron 35mm f2 11673 (f/2.0, Auto WB, ISO 800) 👇 Kodak Portra 800 w/Summilux 35mm f1.4 11663 (f/2.0) 👇
  22. Hello there! I have a slight but not to severe problem. I've noticed that my Leica M7 is not able to read the DX code of these two specific films: Fujifilm Superia X-Tra 400 and Fujifilm Fujicolor C200. For these two films I get the ISO value of 5000 and 3200 which are obviously wrong. For example, Fujifilm Pro 400H is working perfectly fine, the ISO detection works without problems. Further I tried several other films like Kodak Ektar 100, Kodak Portra 160 and 400, Ilford FP4+ 125 and so on... and the dx detection worked perfectly fine on every single one of these films. I compared the working ones with the "malfunctioning" films and the only difference I noticed is that the black paint in the dx code is a kind of green, it's not a perfect black, more like a darkish green, definitely not a true black. Could this maybe be the reason? The thing is, I've sent my camera to Leitz for a grand- overhaul just 3 weeks back. They changed and renewed a lot of parts including thr DX- reader so the camera is like brand new. Unluckily I've no clue if it had the same problem before it went to Leitz because I've not shot one of these films before. It would be a great help if somebody has an answer or maybe a similar problem! Regards Alex
  23. saw this today, quite a substantial price increase... https://www.shopmoment.com/reviews/why-kodak-film-prices-are-increasing-whats-changing-what-isnt https://kosmofoto.com/2022/12/new-kodak-alaris-price-rises-announced-for-march-2023/ """"The price rises from Kodak Alaris – the company which sells photographic film made by Eastman Kodak – come amid continuing supply problems for Kodak-branded films, as the US giant has struggled to meet continuing demand, especially for colour films, amid a global pandemic. The pandemic was largely blamed for earlier rises announced over the past three years. However, this latest price rise seems to be partly due to recent Eastman Kodak’s investment in film production. In October, Eastman Kodak said it wanted to hire more people for its film production division as demand for film continues to soar. Nagraj Bokinkere, Eastman Kodak’s vice-president of film manufacturing, made the plea while appearing on the Get Real podcast for Great Rochester Enterprise, a business hub in the New York-state city where the film producer is based. He said the film maker had already taken on more than 300 new employees over the previous 18 months. In addition, Kosmo Foto has learned that Eastman Kodak has also been upgrading finishing equipment, which has been a stumbling block for increasing production to meet demand"""
