  1. I'm serious considering purchasing a Q this week but I would really love to see what the OOC JPEGs look like. I currently shoot with a Sony A7RII and 99% of the time my go-to lens is the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2. My only complaint with the Sony is I'm not very fond of the colours. I like to post my images directly on social media so the OOC JPEGs do really matter to me. Please help me with my decision by posting some of your OOC JPEGs with your Q! Thank you!
  2. Hi, I'm just a new Leica Q user. I found slightly difference between JPEG and DNG. My personally I really love jpeg output color. It not too vivid and give cool look. However it really hard to change JPEG White balance in Lightroom Is there anyway to archive JPEG look in DNG? Here are example (JPEG left, DNG right).
  3. What is the benefit to shooting JPEG and RAW? I am starting to get overwhelmed by having doubles of all pictures, not to mention the additional space requirement. Does anyone shoot only JPEG? Why? Does anyone shoot only RAW? Why? Thanks!
  4. I recently collected my M9 body from Leica Mayfair, London, after sensor replacement. I was delighted to get it back, but on my first day shooting with it I encountered some problems. First, it froze when I took 3 single shots in quick succession. The red light flashed for 10+ minutes and an error message appeared - can't remember exactly what it said, but it referred to writing to memory. I left the camera alone, hoping it would eventually write to the memory card (newly formatted in-camera SanDisk Ultra 32GB SDHC I 40 MB/s Class 10). When I picked up the camera a few hours later the ligh
  7. Hello! I would much appreciate advice to all or any individual part of my set of questions: I intend to bring my in-Lightroom 2.6 developed X1 dngs to a printing lab. How to export them (as jpegs) without unintentionally worsening the best possible printing quality at the stage of saving? I assume that I have to save them as jpegs. (Is this not the best option, or would I benefit from using another format?) X1 provides jpegs as normal, fine and superfine. Why is this no longer a specified option/ relevant division in Lightroom, in where dngs are being exported as jpegs?
  8. I've set up my iMac with Lightroom and a mirrored external hard drive, and am good to go. I imported (with a few hiccups) my iPhoto library, and am ready to import photos from the SDHC card in my D-lux 4 for the first time. All the tutorials I've looked at so far talk about importing RAW files, and about importing jpeg files, but seem to use slightly different settings for the two different formats. How can I best import both the jpegs and the RAW files from my Leica? Is there a particular setting people use? Thanks in advance, J.
  9. Here are some crops from the jpeg versions of pix I shot in Salt Lake. No post-processing except for cropping. I note that Leica has vastly improved the sharpening algorithms. None of the video-like halos that appeared in the M8 unless in-camera sharpening was turned completely off. I also note that ISO 2500 is extremely noise-free (for the ISO) Shot of the M8 on pedestal: ISO 2500, mixed tungsten spotlight overhead and window daylight, 135 TE @ f/4 and 1/60th (so a touch of camera shake), "normal" sharpening setting. Detail of the "Leica" shirt is from the same shot, in DNG fo
  10. I use my M9 for documentation of the urban environment. Often, there is a detail (such as a poster or a sign) that I want to be able to read, some of the time it is not in the center of the image but in a corner or at the edge. Hence the need for the best resolution lenses with little falloff in the outer zones, hence the Leica, especially something like the 18mm or 21mm Super Elmar. Can I get away with JPEG rather than DNG? In other words: Do I lose much or any resolution, given the limits of the M9 sensor, if I only have JPEGs. My concern is longer term--say fifty years from now and I get cu
  11. I realy neet help, even if it is not only focused on Leica jpeg files As from this monday nobody can read my jpg files any more, after I have saved them with my Photoshop CS 5. I don´t understand this, es there where never problem sice I have my Photoshop CS5. The files can not be opened on PC, iPhone or another Imac. I am thankfull for any help best regards Harald LUDWIG
Ab 400? Danke
  13. I bought a Leica V-LUX 40 a couple of months ago. I'm very happy of it, but I would ask if there is some way to reduce the artifacts on the final image at making stage of the image directly from the camera. Thanks
