  1. I purchased my Leica M11 Monochrom in July of this year. I have updated it to the latest 2.0.1 firmware. The lens attached 100 percent of the time is the LLL 50 F2.0 ELCAN and it saves files to a UHSII 300MB/s Sandisk 128gb SD card. Recently while shooting continous low or high, after a certain amount of bursts, I see a partial or full screen black areas that appear on live view and in the DNG files. What could be the cause of this? I aim currently on holiday in Japan and am looking to have it serviced at their Ginza service center. They claim to be able to repair by replacing my shutter but will take three weeks. I would have to fly back into tokyo in three weeks time if what they say is true. Can I take their word for it that it will only take three weeks? I eagerly await your helpful comments and suggestions
  2. Hello everybody, this is my first post and I would like to extend a friendly hello to all of you and also to thank you for your time! This thread is not about finding the right screws for adjusting the rangefinder, but rather about one of them not wanting to move. The infinity adjustment (horizontal plane) seems to be a tiny bit out of alignment with my M5, and although it probably will not have a significant effect, it still nags me. One factor might be that the brass barrel of the lens I commonly use appears to be quite worn, so that when "freshly" attaching the lens, everything seems to be in order but never goes back to true inifity after the lens is focused to a closer distance and back to infinity, if this makes sense. Anyway, the screw inside the roller at the end of the rangefinder arm inside the lens mount does not move. I have tried several straight and angled screwdrivers, even filed one down for better fit, but still: it won't budge. I am afraid of stripping the head of the screw/damaging the arm and wonder: can or should the eccentric screw at the end of the rangefinder arm be lubricated in any way? Or will this result in unwanted movement/reoccuring maladjustment of the screw? When looking straight at the rangefinder arm from the front, there seems to be a small opening in the arm through which I can see the screw, which is why I'm wondering if it's meant to be used for lubrication purposes. What confuses me most though, is that my camera technician has adjusted the rangefinder several times already, and will most probably also have used this screw (although there seem to be other ways after taking the top plate off). Maybe I should ask him if he applied any kind of bonding agent to keep it in place. Although I'd wonder where he should have put it, since it inevitably would come into contact with the roller, inhibiting it from moving freely. If all of this is too confusing, I can add some pictures later for clarification. Thank all of you for your time and have a nice day!
  3. Hi Guys and Girls Having a bit of a meltdown, my m6 classic overlapped some frames, i thought nothing of it, them my developer called me ad told me ether are more on my last rolls, (have not seen them yet) i have read some threads regarding issues with the teeth etc on the wind on mechanism, i put an dud roll in the camera and carefully watched as the correct amount of holes passed for the full roll, i am also hopeful it could be the "active rewind nob being moved by my jacket as i wear it religiously under my jacket everyday on my motorbike commute, i hop it is this as posting for repairs is painful, please someone set my mind at rest at least and tell me it is at least a easy fix for an expert, as i ma really enjoying shooting at the moment.
  4. Hello to everybody and happy new year from Italy! I'm wondering if no one has experienced this problem during sequences bracketing. Nothing serious, just a nuisance. My SL (firmware 1.2) set up this way: DNG + JPG (JPG-L); Lexar two 64GB SDXC cards 1000X II (1 + 2 mode); AE braketing with 5 shots Well, my SL produces five regular DNG + JPG plus a sixth strangely corrupted JPG file. Here two samples: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ac1xg2hp3rr8l9/L1010669%20copia.JPG?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/gclld35v4hahgdc/L1010443%20copia.JPG?dl=0 If there is someone who works in Leica, could also put this issue in things to be fixed, please ;-) Ciao and thank you.
  5. Hi all- Thanks for your response in advance. I bought a used M240 recently followed by a new MP 240. I am new to Leica and come from the Sony/Nikon world. so please excuse me if this question is stupid. I set both camera's to exact same firmware, same menu settings, same metering modes etc Below are my observations can you please validate if there is a issue 1. The LCD on MP240 looks less brighter and has a more warmer tone than M240 - Is this the case because of the Sapphire glass? 2. MP 240 under exposes compared to M 240? - same conditions, same lens, I tend to find MP 240 under exposing. is this common? 3. The B&W Film simulation images from MP 240 are a bit more vintagy looking than M240 or bit warmer than M240? Please see the attached image for the LCD issue (maybe not a issue). ignore the metering in the image thats just me playing around. I really appreciate your assistance in validating the above. Glad to be a part of this community. - Donny
  6. My M9's setting dial has started acting weird. For exposure compensation it doesn't go in sequence but keeps jumping back and forth. Same happens while zooming in play mode. It is very annoying on otherwise functioning camera. Before I send it for repair under warranty, I wanted to find out whether anybody else has the issue and whether there is a quick fix (hate to be without M9 for weeks ). I checked for the obvious dust around setting dial, rotating it back and forth many times in case there is something stuck inside, firmware upgrade... Nothing solved it. This is my first post here. I have been lurking and reading informative posts so far. Wonderful forum indeed.
  7. Hi everyone, I was just given a 1957 (I believe) M3-910 139 in really good condition. It came with a Summicron 1:2/50 #1708858. Everything seams to be working except the lens does something odd... When you focus from lock, it focuses close, but the stop at the top of the lean keeps me from focusing any farther than 36 inches but there are more marking for 36 inches - infinity after the stop... Now I'm probably just being a newbie, but I can't figure out how to get past the stop! In new to Leica but not to photography, I've never seen anything like this. Please advise, and advice is greatly appreciated, -John
