  1. We are delighted to announce that we are running a special Leica 'Akademie' workshop on the 28th of October 2016. This one day course will introduce attendees to the Leica M digital system and how to use the rangefinder system in a street photography environment. Leica Akademie tutor and freelance photographer, Robin Sinha, will host the day and introduce us to the Leica digital M system and how he uses it to maximise his street photography. The day will start at 10am and run until approximately 4.30pm, this will contain a two hour practical part of the day where you will have the opportunity to use the Leica digital cameras in a street environment. 10.00am – 11.00am – Robin Sinha will introduce you to his work with a short talk using his own images to demonstrate Leica Photography. 11.00am - 11.30am - Review and mini-critique of attendees images (attendees are asked to bring 4 images on a USB stick that represent their photography) 11.30am - 12.00pm Familiarisation with the Leica camera range prior to photowalk. 12.00pm – 12.30pm – Lunch break 12.30pm – 2.30pm – Photowalk around Bristol using the Leica cameras provided 2.30pm onwards – Back to the studio for image review and critique. Robin will also demonstrate how to edit your RAW files to get the best from the digital system. 4.30pm approx - finish There is a small charge of £20 for the day, which includes refreshments of tea or coffee. Unfortunately lunch is not provided, but there are plenty of local places to get something during the break. If you wish to book a place on the course, please email bristol@lcegroup.co.uk or call 0117 9291935. Please let us know if you have any queries.
  2. Hi everyone! My name is Bjorn van Sinttruije and I am a Dutch street photographer. I have used a Leica M9-P with 50mm Lux since December 2011, and used a D-Lux 5 for a long time before it. Both of them are great cameras, but of course I love shooting with the M9-P most. I actually bought my M at the Leica factory in Germany, which was really cool experience. I wrote about it for the site of my friend Gordon Laing, Camera Labs, and you can read my story here: Leica M9-P review | Cameralabs I signed up to this board a long time ago, but never really got around to posting because I am busy with my studies, taking pictures, or moderating Gordon's forum. I am writing my thesis at the moment, and as a big Leica fan I have chosen to relate it to Leica. This is where I need your help. I am trying to determine what the Leica brand means to owners like you, and have prepared a 5 minute survey to do so. If you have a bit of spare time, would you please consider filling it out! I will eternally grateful! This is the link: https://qtrial.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_72rb27JxiPUO6z3 I look forward to posting more on this board in the future, but until I finish my thesis, I might not be able to be very active. For now, if you want to see some of my pictures, most of them are on Google+ here: http://gplus.to/bjornivar Thank you in advance for helping me out, I really appreciate it! - Bjorn
  3. Just a little post to welcome myself to the Leica forum as I am about to become a brand new Leica owner - well, as soon as Leica deliver my M9, that is. I've been a photographer since the late 1970's. My photography is a combination of travel photography, portrait photography and underwater photography. Most of the last 20 years, I have been shooting medium format, most recently a Hasselblad 205FCC with the digital CFV-16 back. Some proud moments in my photography life include: - Center spread in Hasselblad's Focus magazine - Published 20 images on Singapore and Malaysian heritage sites in ASEAN photo book - Published in several travel and underwater magazines - Set up one of the very earliest web-based photo galleries in 1997, and still going... For travel photography, my technique involves getting up with the sun and wandering the streets of whichever city I happened to be in, mainly around Asia, looking for interesting, unusual or attractive things / people to photograph. I would often walk 5 to 10 kms between 6am and 10am. But I was getting weary of lugging around a big camera, heavy lenses and a big tripod, every time I wanted to photograph something. I figured that, one day, someone would make a smaller camera that could produce images of an acceptable quality to my Hasselblad. It appears to me that the M9 is that camera. Over the next few months, I am going to enjoy trying to prove that hypothesis. I'll keep the Hasselblad for "planned" portrait photography. As for underwater photography, do you think I will ever be brave enough to seal the M9 and a wide-angle lens in a housing and take it under the sea? Watch this space...
