  1. While I was having coffee at my favourite place this guy was sat running his office over his cup of coffee. "Hi, it's Mike the Magician" he said down the telephone. Sadly the guy at the other end didn't seem to know who he was. I took this candid shot of him with the M240 + 50mm lens at 1600iso. I then processed it through Lightroom Classic. Hope you like it! Gerry
  2. I took my regular visit to my favourite city-centre coffee shop and when he served me the guy behind the counter said "Have you taken any good snaps yet today?". I hadn't, but whilst I sat there with my coffee and Danish this scenario appeared in front of me. It is a candid image, and they did not notice me at any time. I used my M240 fitted with the 50mm Zeiss Sonnar f1.5 and I was working at 1,000iso. Exposure was 1/60th @ f6.8. post-processing was in Lightroom Classic. Hope you like it! Gerry

    Pensive

A young lady sits in contemplation at my favourite coffee shop. Leica M240 - 1/125th at f5.6 handheld @ 2,000 iso processed in LR Classic. Gerry
  4. When visiting Prague one should not miss the church of St. Niklas on the Mala Strana, below the Hradcin. The church is a jewel in terms of interior decaration. All the interior is being designed by I. Dientzenhofer, one of the most famous artists of his craft. One has to pay a small entry fee but what you get to see is beyond imagination. The viewer may enjoy the illumination. For the photographer this is an advantage because there is more light but it is a difficulty because the quality of light is bad in terms of color cast and front light. To avoid this you have to turn but then have to face a bright light from the windows. Tripods are generally being banned so all shots are handheld. The tower is worthwhile being climbed. It is very narrow but the view from aove is very recommendable and really lovely. Olympus EM 5 with Summilux 15 mm. The first one is a panorama being stitched out of 4 pictures

    The Bar Keeper

    Barcelona 2015. Leica M9 and Zeiss 50mm Sonnar f1.5 @ 1600iso. I hope you like it. Gerry

    The Copiest

I took this in the Louvre in Paris in 2002. I have just scanned it to add it to my archive. The camera was certainly the M6 and probably the lens was the 35mm Summicron I had back then. It was taken on Agfa Vista 800 colour film, which I have no rational explanation for now because I can't imagine me ever using it. The grain is pretty big, but through judicious use of LRCC I think I have gotten away with it at this size, or at least I hope so! I do like the result. Gerry
  7. I have shot very little this past year for various health and Covid reasons. Here is one that I was pleased with from my favourite café. It is a grab shot as I just had the camera resting on the table and didn't look through the viewfinder. Leica M7 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Kodak T-Max 400 at 400. No exposure values recorded. Commercially processed and scanned at home. Gerry

    Thinking!

Student life is returning to my favourite café. I took this image about a metre from the young lady without being noticed, she was so deep in thought. this image is uncropped. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 - 1/60 f4 @ 800iso. Gerry
  9. I haven't posted for a while for various personal reasons, but this came back from the lab today. Hope you like it Leica M7 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 - Kodak TMY Gerry
  10. I took this charming image candidly at my favourite café. It is not my normal practice to talk to my subjects, but if there are children involved I normally introduce myself and explain what I have done and ask for permission to use the image. I don't recall ever having been refused, although it is slightly more awkward shooting film as opposed to digital because you cannot show the parent the image. This young mother was quite happy with what I had done. Leica M7 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5 using Kodak T-Max 400 and only available light. 1/125 @ f2.8
  11. Another from my latest film back from the lab. This was taken on the M7 prior to getting rid of it (big mistake!) using the 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Film is Kodak T-Max400 processed by Harman Labs who do a pretty good job. No idea of exposure (sorry) but was available light only. I particularly love the face of the little child in the background. Gerry
  12. A candid available light image taken in my favourite coffee shop. About 50% crop from original. Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. 1/500 f4.8 @320iso - b&w conversion from original .dng file using Lightroom Classic. Gerry
  13. I thought I would try colour for a change. It constantly amazes me that I (1.8m tall and 104kg) can stand there and photograph without being noticed! Leica M240 - 1/30th f6.8 @ 320iso handheld. Gerry
  14. Another from my favourite cafe. This is a candid shot taken handheld at 1/30th @ f2.5 by available light. Leica M6 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Agfa APX400 film processed in Adox FX39. Gerry
