  1. I recently purchased a 21mm Summilux and a Brightline Finder 12024 to accompany it. When I slide the finder into the hotshoe on my M10 it feels remarkably loose and unstable, so much so that if the camera is tipped it will slide out. This can't be right. Investigating further I tried the same viewfinder on my M9-P and it fits securely, same when I try it on an M4 body. There are raised bars under the edges of the M9 hotshoe (see attached photos) and similarly on the M4 they seem to have springs under bars to use light pressure to hold things in place. Did something fall off my M10 without my noticing? On a stock m10 is the center area with the pin cluster flush with the rest of the hotshoe or is that area in the center raised up a bit from the bare metal? All other hotshoe items that I use have pin locks so nothing else falls out. I had a thumbs-up grip that went in the hot shoe that was too loose as well. I had assumed it was the grip bring too small, not that something was missing from my camera. Can anyone confirm this behavior or help me to understand what I may be missing? I I can use a small bit of gaffer's tape to fill in the loose area when using the viefinder on the the M10 but that hardly seems like the best solution. M9 hotshoe with raised pressure bars: M10, same area: M10 Top Down: M10 Straight in, note slightly raised center pin cluster. Is there a surrounding plate that is missing on my hotshoe?:
  2. I used a finder in my M10 for the first time yesterday, the finder was a snug fit, normal I'd say compared to my other M's when I inserted it to the hot shoe. When I finished snapping, I put my camera with the finder attached into my bag. When I got home I noticed that the finder had dropped out of the hot-shoe. Now it seems the hot shoe is out of tolerance, the black plastic insert that came with the camera as well as my other finders are all loose to the point where they'll just slide out. When looking at the hot shoe it seems normal, compared to my other cameras. I can't imagine that it would be possible to bend the hot shoe flanges without applying significant force - the bag wasn't out of my sight all afternoon so I'm certain that didn't happen. Have any other M10 users experienced anything similar? and if so, what was the fix? I've only had the camera for a few weeks and I'm reluctant to send it off for repair after waiting for so long. Many thanks
  3. This won't fit onto the hot shoe of my M-E. It fits snugly on my Canon 6D and will go on the hot shoe of my M6, requiring more force than the 6D. Anyone else have a problem getting this unit on their M9/M-E? Any alternatives?
  4. Does anyone have any info about using this old flash unit with an M9. Its a hot-shoe unit but without the cutout that allows it to be pushed fully into the hot-shoe receptacle. (probably just as well) Maybe someone has tested the polarity and size of Volts and Amps that go through the release contacts. It may blow the system and ££££s will flow. Maybe some advice about other flash units will surface with this question. Maybe I should leave it to use with my Spotmatic and SMC Takumars.
  5. The hotshoe on my X1 is so tight that I practically have to force the Leica finder in each time I want to mount it. Taking it out from the hotshoe is another hassle. It is impossible to mount any of the flashgun that I have to the hotshoe. Does anybody else have the same problem? Any suggestion how I can 'loosen' it a bit? Thanks.
  6. I got my M9 from Adorama 12/23 and my SF 58 flash from PopFlash on 12/24. I have had a very hard time sliding the flash into/onto the hotshoe and an even harder time getting it back out/off - even with the metal pin all the way retracted - any advise (shall I sandpaper the edges of the SF 58 shoe - anyone ..?? ). I am almost scared to use the SF 58 in fear of not getting it off or damaging my M9
