  1. Botanical garden is rich in details if you are able to grab the last sunbeam. You learn to be quick: grab your stuff after coming home, change clothes, drive 2 miles, set up your tripod, lens choice, manual focus, forgot cable release-doesn't matter-selftimer on and shoot shoot shoot. I think you all know that very well. Olympus OMD EM 5 with R Elmarit 90 mm
  2. I am considering buying a 35 Summilux preasph but have been considering also the 35 Nokton 1.4 from Voigtlander as it comes at a fraction of the price. My main question is whether the Nokton also has that same magic glow at f1.4 as the Summilux preasph. Anyone?
  3. Hi folks. I always wonder, what is meant with the special Leica "glow" and how you can reach it with what kind of lens. I read sometimes, that especially some of the older lenses are able to produce that glow (like the 1,4/35 pre asph, 2,0/35 pre asph., 3,4/21 Super Angulon, etc.). So what are your favorite lenses for that purpose. Maybe you can also load up some examples so I can make a picture of the fingerprint of each lens. Thank you very much. Kindest Regards, Jochen
  4. Hi. I bought a Summicron 35mm F2.0 Lens (written "Leitz CANADA, 2826***) But Image quality of that lens has some question. Upper Left : F2.0 / Upper Right : F2.8 Lower Left : F4.0 / Lower Right : F5.6 F2.0 ~ F2.8 center image is good, but outside(periphery) is glow (or halo?) F4.0 ~ : overall image quality is good. Is this lens good or not? Full-open's glowing is acceptable or not? Plz give your advice. Thanks :-) ps) whole image of F2.0
  5. Last weekend the fall colours were at its peak,. Temperatures were extremely mild being up to 20!Β° Celsius. No rain had fallen, so there was a dream of goldrush because the foliage was almost complete. I was at the location at 7:30. It was just in time for getting the glow on the pond. Yet it remained half shaded because the rocks were locking the sun. The sky was deep blue and a pale morning moon was still there. All with Olympus and Nocticron 43 mm/ 1.2
  6. I've been enjoying my 35 pre-ASPH Summilux quite a bit. I like the cine look that my copy has been yielding, and I'm getting a handle on what it does in various conditions. This said, I've always enjoyed working with the 28mm prospective. I've got a "whole grip of 28s" (2-crons, an elmarit, and a new version summaron). All lovely lenses and each fills a niche in my work. But none render anything like the 35 P-A! Is there a 28 that yields that glow? I'm not a snob, so I'd buy any lens that draws in a similar way.
  7. M8, 35/2 Summicron v.I wide open - detail shows the halo 'glow' - I love it!
