  1. Hi problem could have existed since long but I have just discovered it. Please test yours and let me know if such a problem is common. problem can be regenerated (not always) if you do the following: 1- make sure the camera is off first. Switch it on and directly go to menu. 2- scroll over items slowly downward (allow 2sec between each scroll) 3- camera will probably hang on last item i have noticed if you scroll quick the problem will not arrise. check it out here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ds1p1u7zbp37wso/IMG_2404.TRIM.MOV?dl=0 woukd appreciate your feedback. thanks
  2. Has anyone heard of issues with the Typ240 not recognising SD cards? I was shooting today and a few shots in it gave me the SD error and wouldn't shoot (shutter activated but didn't write). I switched the camera off and on again and it seemed OK for a few more shots, then did it again and I can't bring it back to life. The camera isn't even attempting to read the card (red light) when switching on. I've tried removing the battery and the card for prolonged periods. I've tried a different card. Both are 8GB, reliable in the past and are readable fine by the PC. I've also tried a card freshly formatted using the SD Formatter tool. The camera won't even allow me into the menu to try reformatting, so at the moment it's completely unusable. Can't find anything on the web about this but thought I'd post before taking a trip to Mayfair.
  3. In the Firmware 3.0 thread I mentioned that my camera does occasionally freeze. After it locked up a couple of times over the last weekend I spent some time today trying to see whether I can reproduce the problem. As it turns out, I can, however it looks like it is a temporary freeze since if I wait for what feels like 10 seconds the SL does recover and starts working again. Here are the steps to reproduce the (temporary) freeze: 1. Set drive mode to medium speed 2. Turn off auto review 3. Hold down the shutter to take ~10 shots 4. While the red light is blinking 4.1. Hit the play button (TR) 4.2. Double tap the display (to zoom in) 4.3. Swipe on the display At that point the display freezes and the camera no longer reacts to any buttons or switches -- including the off-switch. The red light keeps blinking for a while. After another 5 seconds or so the camera starts responding again. I am sure there are other series of steps that would give the same result. Before I try to narrow this down further (try different cards, different battery, different steps) I would be grateful if some of you could try out the above steps and let me know whether you can reproduce this with your cameras.
  4. Hi, qick question, I just pulled the trigger on the Q. I like it very much in every aspect, didn' think I could go with an EVF but its pretty fine - allthogh it adds a certain sparkle to the images which is not apparent in final output...anyways, I have three issues that bug me a bit: 1. During the first day of use it had three freezes (while fiddling with the menue). I had to remove the battery to shut it down. Firmware 2.0. Mh.... 2. It gets pretty warm on the right side of the body after 10 minutes up of use. Not alarmingly hot but its there. Normal? 3. No metering spot visible in manual focus mode? C'mon. In exchange i can provide the following tipps for use of the much bashed video mode: - turn OFF Autofocus, use MF with focus peaking - turn Metering mode to Matrix Metering - turn OFF image stabilizisation (there's a dedicated option for video) - adjust exposure via compensation dial - set sharpening too low - set contrast to moderate - use native 28mm mode only Still no professional video machine and no aperture control but it works pretty okayish this way. Your input is much appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Hi! I have been looking solutions for following problems and seen that in previous years many m240 users have had some of the similar problems but in recently no one haven't much complained about these problems any more. 1) Some photos show magenta cast when I zoom in the preview. Seems to happen only when I shoot DNG. 2) Camera will lock up regularly (sometimes after taking 30 photos and sometimes after 100 photos) and only way to recover is to do power off/on. I have pined down that about minute or so before the crash, the LCD will show hourglass every time the SD card led is blinking, so basically every time I take a photo. I also want to note that when auto power off is set for example to 2 minutes, then I can just wait 2 minutes and camera will power off, after which I press the shutter to wake the camera up and proceed to take more photos. So for some users some lockups may happen even without the user knowing it, because camera will recover from them with auto power off. I have M262 with the latest firmware 1.0.0.6. I use 32GB and 64GB sandisk 95mb/s cards which I always format with SD Card Formatter after the use. I have also tried 32GB and 16GB sandisk 45mb/s cards but the outcome is the same. Battery level seems not to have any effect on this. Fully charged battery have same chance for lockup as under 20% one. My workflow for taking pictures is most part following: 1) Take the photo 2) use 3 or 5 second auto review 3) sometimes zoom in to confirm the focus 4) never turn the camera off. My local Leica shop says that Leica has always had these problems and sending it to Germany will probably not fix these issues. So is it normal?
  6. What newer cards are reliable ? I lost 1/2 a shoot for the 3rd time this year. I am getting a bit paranoid because Lexar image rescue5 could not recover any of the files even after several attempts. While shooting I always randomly check on the LCD but then there is nothing on the card - how is that even possible ?
