  1. Hi, I have found something on my M2 I ordered a couple months ago off ebay to have something very interesting. The camera that I have is an M2 serial number 993880, but in my viewfinder I see 28,35,50,75,and 135mm frame lines which I know is not normal. It looks almost exactly like an M4. My thinking was that someone must have had the RF repaired with a newer M series framelines, but the black seal is still intact (although it could be fake now). If anyone has any information about what i now own i would be very grateful as I am super confused to be owning a camera that shouldn't exist haha. I attached pictures of what the VF looks like. Thanks!! Adam
  2. Hi all, So last weekend I had my first full weekend shooting with the M240 and a new summicron 35mm ASPH. I have run into a problem which I kind of noticed but thought it was 'just me' when I shot a few snaps in NY before returning to Braz. The upper frame line through the camera's viewfinder seems to be out by quite a bit when using the summicron 35. When I frame for a shot, the sensor detects and records significantly above the upper frame line leaving me with rather unbalanced shots at all distances. When using the EVF, the sensor records exactly what is seen and I had to rely on this a lot to frame accurately which was really not ideal because of the shutter lag and the way it chews through batteries. The manual says that the frame lines should be accurate from 2 metres to infinity - 'largely congruent.' Am I doing something wrong? Can I personally fix this? Best,
  3. Today I got my first Leica rangefinder (an M4 in a very good condition) but I stumbled upon 2 issues Loading Film I followed the manual instructions and everything seemed to be fine until I discovered that the film was not advancing (at frame 40+): what did I do wrong? Bright Framelines In some angles in the 35/135 lines framelines mode I see (sometimes) one of the 50mm framelines reflection (just a thin line and only the bottom line): is this a normal reflection issue? thanks in advance for your feedback
  4. I love my M7, but I have been noticing that i consistently miss the framing on my photos because i find the 50mm frame lines to be inaccurate on the vertical plane. My photos are consistently framed higher than I think they will be when I'm looking through the viewfinder and taking the photos. (The result is that i often cut off people's feet when I intended to capture their entire bodies.) This is most common when I'm in the 8 to 25 feet range. I thought it might result from my eye not being aligned, but moving my eye around doesn't really change my view of the framing enough to suggest that it's the problem. Does anyone else have this issue with the 50mm M7 frame lines? The most accurate frame lines I use, oddly, are the 35mm lines with my 40mm Summicron on my original M8.
  5. Hi all I just got an M8 and I'm not amazing with technical stuff so was hoping you would be able to advise. I want to get my first lens. Right, should I get the: Voigtlander Nokton 40mm 1.4 (Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 VM Nokton lens - alternative standard VM bayonet | Robert White Photographic Ltd) Or Voigtlander Nokton 35mm 1.4 (Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 VM Nokton Classic | Robert White Photographic Ltd) I'm a little confused about framelines, does the 35mm fit to the inner or outer lines on this example? - M8 Framelines from the M8 instruction manual | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Where would the 40mm fit, inside the inner lines but with no real guide? How big a difference will there be in terms of how zoomed in the lens is (I don't know the right terminology, but understand) I understand the crop factor is 1.33? I am used to using a digilux 3 with 30mm sigma 1.4, on which I think the crop factor is 2. Any other opinions I would be interested to hear. I care about size, weight, ease of use and of course quality of picture. Cheers Steve.
  6. I just received my M9 from Ken Hansen (NYC) and I have a question I hope someone can answer. I use a 28mm as my "standard" lens, the Elmarit, and the framelines in the viewfinder are substantially off pretty much at all distances - you get a lot more than you think you've framed. Is this a case of Leica thinking it's better to give you more than less? I like to frame things really tight and it's disappointing to see all the extra stuff in the pictures. Is there any solution to this problem?
