Hi there! Updated my SL2-S yesterday via the Photos App to Firmware Vers. 6.0. To my astonishment the zoom/magnification function by pressing the joystick button doesn't work anymore. If you scroll through the menu and select the joystick options, the "zoom" option for MF lenses is not there anymore. This is rather annoying when using MF lenses. The only way you can use the magnification is by using the thumb wheel. This is less than ideal to say the least. Anyone else with the same experience or is it just me being to stupid to find the right setting on Firmware 6.0 ?? Thanks for your help. Andy

Just got an email from Leica Australia that there's a firmware update for the Leica SL (typ 601). Version 4.1 Unfortunately, the link to download the firmware in the email is 404 broken, but a bit of web-search magic and found it on the Leica US downloads page: Downloads | Leica Camera US (leica-camera.com) Seems to be mainly focused on SL series lens firmware updates. Caveat – haven't installed it yet.

Hi zusammen, ich habe mir eine gebrauchte Leica X113 vor ein paar Tagen gekauft und habe nun eine Frage bezüglich des AF's. Man findet leider nicht allzu viel dazu - bitte entschuldigt, falls die Frage schon beantwortet wurde, hab sie wie gesagt nicht gefunden. Nutzung AF - - - - - - - - - - Ich habe alle Einstellungen mal getestet, also Spot, 1 Punkt, 11 Punkt und habe regelmäßig beim Fokussieren das Problem, das nachdem das Fokusfeld grün wurde und ich dann den Auslöser ganz durchdrücke, die Kamera erstmal nicht auslöst bzw. blockiert. Das AF Feld verliere ich dabei nicht - es bleibt weiterhin grün. Bei längerem Gedrückthalten (vielleicht 1-2 Sekunden) löst die Kamera dann erst aus. Ist das normal? Wollte auch eine passende Firmware runterladen, aber da findet sich leider nichts mehr auf der Leica-Seite. Hat hier vielleicht jemand einen Tipp, wie man an die bisherige Updates rankommt? Bei Leica habe ich heute mal nachgefragt per Mail. Meine Firmware Version "72a" kommt mir auch recht seltsam vor ... 🙆‍♂️ Euch schon jetzt ganz lieben Dank und liebe Grüße, Gensu

Hi everyone. Installed with no issues. Before updating firmware, saved "user profiles" to SD Card. Updated from firmware file on SD Card. I never update through the phone app. Paired again with Leica Fotos phone app. Imported "user profiles" from SD Card. Everything works fine for me so far. Hope everyone has no issues. Good luck!

Just bought a used M8 and it has Firmware 2.005 on it. I can see the latest is 2.024 but there have been minor problems with it. Is there a list of what features were added in each firmware? What version would everyone recommend I go to (if I need to change at all?) TIA

The Calonox View usb-c port supports charging and the transfer of data (pictures, videos). It works with usb-c to usb-a cables with chargers or computers which have an usb-a port. However, the port does not work with an usb-c to usb-c cable. I tested multiple cables and different chargers and computers. Always the same negative outcome. The Calonox View device comes with an strange usb-c to usb-a/video-chinch splitter cable. This cable works - but obviously for charging and data transfer per usb-a only. I can't find the reason for this unfortunate limitation - especially considering that usb-c shall replace usb-a ports. Has someone a solution? Also, I can't figure out how to update the Calonox View firmware - nor did I find any information regarding firmwares for this device on Leica's pages. In my case, the installed firmware is v5.0 but I'm wondering how Leica want's to maintain such a high-end device without software updates? Has anybody a solutionn to this problem?

Hello Leica-users, I just bought second-hand a vario T 18-56 and a vario T 55-135 lens for the CL and Sl. The firmware on the camera’s is up-to-date. So how to update the lenses firmware? Please help. Thanks in advance, Klassika.

I posted this in firmware update thread without reply. I think it is better to start a new thread for this as I feel this is one of more serious bugs for me personally. If I want to shoot multiple frames with locked exposure in aperture priority mode, in the past, I just need half press shutter and keep it pressed and shooting. Because there is no option to enable or disable half press shutter lock exposure for Leica M. (Many other camera let you select this as option), this is especially important. I will pick two scenarios why this is important. Stitch frame: you want lock the exposure and keep exposure consistent when you do panned shots. For M11, you can only have two shot with exposure locked because after first image, the meter relock the scene right away, but after 2nd image, the meter reevaluate and re-lock again. If you took 5 image stitch, first two will have the same exposure, #3&4 have another, and #5 will be another exposure. (assume light conditions are different for each frame) Assume you take backlight portrait, you might want lock exposure by point camera down to avoid meter for highlight, (you can decide how to meter the image based on scene without using manual mode, it could be trying to overexposure or under exposure but you get my idea) Then you take the images, but you try to get a better expression, or the last one subject eyes were closed, you want keep your shutter half pressed to fire right way with original locked exposure. With M11, you can't. It will evaluate the exposure again with that backlight condition. Can you guys check if this is my camera issue or M11 issue? I tried E shutter, mechanical shutter, LV/EVF on, LV/EVF off, none of them make any difference. Any help will be welcome.

So does one simply register a D-Lux 7 on Leica website and Downloadable Firmware/Software to Edit Raw images shot on a D-Lux 7 on Photoshop? I know one could simply shoot Raw on a D-Lux 3 and download images to a computer and open them in PS. Anyone know about this topic in depth? Grateful to learn about this.

Hi, I have recently bought an SL2-S and at beginning I'll mainly use with manual focus (M) Lenses. However, I really like the 90-280mm tele and I might buy second hand A couple of questions about autofocus: in all honesty, how good is the SL2-s autofocus when compared to say a Nikon Z6 (the camera I own)? same question as above for most advanced autofocus features, auto-focus tracking, face recognition etc. If am not mistaken, a massive firmware update for the SL2-s with significant improvements for the autofocus system was announced. Has it been released? In the 2.0 I have not seen much about the autofocus Many thanks in advance for your answers. Cheers.

It seems to be very nice feature. Leica FOTOS reports availability of new firmware and allows to deploy it via direct WiFi to the camera. Has anyone tried this? Is it secure?

Hi, I'm finally ready to make the switch to Leica digital after the release of the M11, but there is one thing that is holding me back: I have 3 original Leica lenses, none of which are encoded. Encoding lenses by yourself requires some tinkering which I'm not sure I want to do, b/c I don't want to break my precious lenses, also I read that people have mixed success rates. Sending my lenses to Leica is expensive and takes months (!!!) to finish, according to online reports. So what do I do if I cannot encode the lenses right now? I cannot find the manual for the M11 online, but according to the M10 manual, you have to go into some deeply nested menu and then get presented with a list of a gazillion of lenses and it's up to you to find the right one. This is not ideal. I only have a handful of lenses, and I suspect this applies to about 90% of Leica photographers. Why can't I just select the unencoded lenses I own (call it "add to favorites", if you will), and each time I attach an unencoded lens, I get presented with a prompt of the ones I have, and I pick the right one out of 3. Quick and easy. This would be good enough to spare me having to wait for months for my encoding to be done at Leica. I'd buy a new M11 full price to make Leica happy, and this would take the pressure out of their customer service, which seems a bit overloaded these days, to make other customers happy. It's a win-win-win. So, does the M11 have a feature like this? If not, is there a way to pitch this feature to Leica firmware developers? Having this would make me very happy, and I'd buy an M11 in an instant. Regards

Hate to say the SL2 video capabilities are seriously flawed at 4K recording and C4K. See the picture below. The main issues I ran into during a full day of video use (With the 50 APO SL and 35/1.2 Art): 1. 4K recording can only occur for 5 minutes or less on a full battery before error message “battery level too low for 4K recording”. (Changed batteries and encountered same issue so it’s not the battery) 2. C4K recording restricts AF usage, limited to only manual focus with the Sigma 35/1.2. 3. All AF capabilities during recording are very slow to focus, unable to switch faces during face/body detection (in the rare case it captures a face), the AF box may at times capture 2-3 bodies and choose to “average” the focus distance. 4. No compressed 4K recording at 50mbps or less. 5. Video Focus peaking’s highlighted/colored areas do not match still focus peaking highlighted areas. 6. No way to magnify the video during capture to check focus. Unfortunately the error message for battery doesn’t show up until 30 seconds after you hit record video. So it ruined a nice Xmas morning moment with the family, when I set up the tripod, hit record, then joined the wife/baby. 5 minutes later, I check the camera and only 30 seconds or less were recorded and the moment gone. Last year my A7r3 recorded 4K full width of sensor till the battery went to 0%. AF easily moved from eye to eye of subjects, focus peaking was accurate and easily seen, and it held tons of video in a UHS-1 SD Card. For a camera that touts it video recording, my iPhone did better (actually much better), and then I had to grab my xpro3 for the rest of the day. how did Leica release a camera with such terrible firmware?? ASIDE from video, just off the top of my head, I recall: terrible accuracy and reliability issues with AF-c tracking, complete lack of eye-AF all together, blurry EVF view in magnified mode for AF-s and manual focus, no AF-s abilities at all while in magnified live view, terrible reliability with tethering (can’t tether to an iPad with two SD cards in the camera due to a firmware bug), nonlinear focusing in manual focus on the Summicron SL lenses. That’s all I encountered, im sure there’s more to report. I haven’t encountered a small percentage of such obvious firmware issues with the xpro3, a7r3, A7r4, Nikon z7, or gfx50r.

Hallo zusammen, gibt es hier zufällig noch jemanden, der Spaß am Filmen hat und dieses Hobby auch schon mal mit seiner Leica Q näher verfolgt hat? Oder kennt vielleicht wer andere Foren in denen dieses Thema schon einmal erörtert wurde? Mir ist bewusst, dass die Leica Q in erster Linie auf das Fotografieren ausgerichtet wurde (zumindest bis jetzt)... Theoretisch hat sie es ja technisch drauf und mit dem 28mm bei der Lichtstärke und einem Vollformat Sensor in der Package ließen sich echt tolle Filmchen machen. Was ich absolut nicht verstehen kann: Warum darf ich als Nutzer der Leica Q Handy App im Video Modus ALLE Belichtungseinstellungen manuell vornehmen, nur nicht direkt an der Kamera? Warum werde ich dadurch außerdem gezwungen mir das Bild auf dem per WLAN gepairten Handy anzuschauen statt durch den integrierten Sucher oder den Kamera Bildschirm (mit Lag)? WARUM??? Mit dem Handy ist ja super wenn ich eine Stadicam benutze. Von daher gibt's für dieses Feature definitiv schon mal 100 Punkte von mir. Aber dann doch bitte bitte auch direkt an der Kamera...! I just brought a D2 but I have a problem. When I turn on the D2 without the SD card all the function is good but once I inserted the SD card the shutter speed button is out of control. When I press down the shutter speed button it take around 10-15 seconds to shoot a photo and each 10-15 seconds it will automatically shoot another photo. And so wired when I look at the photo info in my PC it shows it is took by D3 not D2 but every time I reboot the camera it will allow me to press the shutter speed button again ... here is photo that I check my firmware in D2 ... anyone know how to fix it ?

I wonder if anyone else if experiencing the SL2 freezing, no response, even if I switch off the OLED display and LCD panel still show information. This only seems to have happened after I updated to the latest firmware V2.0. The only action is to remove the battery and then start again. This has happened 2-3 times in the last week or so. So not immediately after the update, which is slightly more concerning.

Das Calonox View har eine USB-C Schnittstelle zum Laden des Akkus als auch zum Übertragen von Daten (Fotos). Verwendet man eine USB-C zu USB-A Kabel funktioniert die Schnittstelle auch sowohl am Rechner als auch mit verschiedenen Ladegeräten. Verwendet man allerdings ein USB-C zu USB-C Kabel, funktioniert die Schnittstelle nicht. Ich habe sowohl verschiedene Kabel, als auch verschiedene Netzteile und Rechner ausprobiert. Die Firmware auf dem Calonox View ist 5.0. Ich habe bisher keine Möglichkeit gefunden, wie man die Firmware aktualisieren kann, noch habe ich bei Leica eine neuere Firmware gefunden - was nachvollziehbar ist, da das Gerät ja neu auf dem Markt ist. Hat jemand bzgl. der USB-C Schnittstelle ähnliche Erfahrungen gemacht? Weiss jemand wie man die Firmware aktualisieren kann? Ansonsten aber eine super Wärmebildkamera. Die Qualität ist wirklich Leica typisch super.
