  1. Has anyone heard of issues with the Typ240 not recognising SD cards? I was shooting today and a few shots in it gave me the SD error and wouldn't shoot (shutter activated but didn't write). I switched the camera off and on again and it seemed OK for a few more shots, then did it again and I can't bring it back to life. The camera isn't even attempting to read the card (red light) when switching on. I've tried removing the battery and the card for prolonged periods. I've tried a different card. Both are 8GB, reliable in the past and are readable fine by the PC. I've also tried a card freshly formatted using the SD Formatter tool. The camera won't even allow me into the menu to try reformatting, so at the moment it's completely unusable. Can't find anything on the web about this but thought I'd post before taking a trip to Mayfair.
  2. Hi I've searched everywhere with no luck regarding this issue. I have this Leica M8.2, and when I shoot 3-5 frames at a fast pace, I get these pixel errors. I really can't figure out what it is. The only suspicion I have, is that I use third party batteries. I can't find any original Leica batteries online, so i went buying third party ones. I really hope someone can address the issue with my camera. Maybe the solution is to send it to Wetzlar, I dont know. If someone in here have had the same problem and found a solution, I will be glad to hear it.
  3. For some reason, the shutter speed shown on the LCD screen is 1 or 2 stops slower than the shutter speed that I have selected. For example, at this second I have 1/15 on the knob, but my LCD screen says 1/15. I now just shut the camera off, and turned it back on - the shutter speed on the knob is now matching up to the LCD screen. Fast forward after taking 3 shots, and have switched my shutter speed to 1/125, but 1/60 is being display. As confirmation, after the photo is taken, the shutter speed that was taken into account is the one that is on the LCD screen. Help?
  4. Finally received my Q today. After fully charging its battery, I fired it up, but just got an error message on the rear screen. I attached the photo I took below. I tried many combinations; restarting, removing battery, waiting 1hr without battery... nothing helped. What do you suggest? What would be the fastest route, contacting BH or Leica USA??? Thanks in advance!
  5. My SL2 is locked up - indicates ERROR in top display, no viewfinder / EVF / LCD display, but I can see aperture changing in top display if I change the light in front of the lens. No problems for four months after purchase brand new from B&H, then I use a Metabones-adapted Macro-Elmar-R 60mm f/2.8 for the first time, and after a day of successful photography the camera is locked up this evening. Tried removing the battery for 10 seconds for reset - still locked up with ERROR in top display on power up. Tried different lenses - Sigma L-mount 85/1.4 DG DN Art that worked fine for four months, Leica M lenses on M adapter L that also worked fine for four months. Tried a couple different batteries. Still nothing. **Any insights or fixes?** Combination of camera button presses to reset camera? Thanks.-
  6. Hello everybody, sometimes happens to my Q and to the one of a friend of mine that in full Auto the Iso go up, the exposure time becomes slow and the viewfinder and the consequent picture are dramatically overexposed. To come back to normality I have to set Aperture and Time manually, switch ON/OFF but this is not normal. This issue is quite rare and I do not want to send the camera in Germany to get it back after one months with the issue unsolved.... Anybody out there has never experienced the same issue? Thanks... Savino
  7. Ok, so it's Christmas Day and we are taking some photos using our faithful travel companion Leica M9. My partner notices that the frame lines in the view finder are larger than normal for the 50mm f2 lens and this is due to the lens not being fully twisted into place and setting the correct frame lines. No issue, I removed the lens and reattached it, frame lines re-appear in the correct place and all is back to normal, or so we thought. Straight away the optical viewfinder said "FULL" and on the LCD display it quoted "Attention SD Card Locked". We have been using Sandisk Ultra cards for over a year with no issues. The card is not in the locked position! We have restarted, replaced the battery with another full battery, left the battery out of the camera for 30 minutes, put our other Sandisk memory cards in as well as other branded ones, we have reset the camera and updated to the latest firmware, formatted the card on the Mac using FAT32, used an air blower to try and remove any dust etc from the card slot, last ditch I have swapped lenses... but it still says "Attention SD Card Locked" when the camera is turned on and the shutter is pressed. If you view the images from a card on the camera they appear fine but with the locked symbol in the upper left part of the screen. We have not set this. When viewing the images you can scroll through and if you try to use the Set Button to revoke the locked attribute it says "Attention SD Card Locked". The camera still takes photos to the Buffer when there is no SD card installed, but you obviously loose them when the camera is off. I have read through some threads in this forum on a similar issue but nothing has been of any help yet. So this is all a bit of a crappy situation. Traveling in New Zealand and Australia with an unresponsive Leica after just over 14 months good work, is very disappointing. Any help would be greatly received. Cheers.
  8. Dear fellow sufferers, OK, it's just a minor thing but still: I bought 2 batteries with my M9-P. One charged without flaws but when I tried to charge the other one, both LEDs of the charger were blinking - loading error. So I returned that one to the Leica Store where I bought it. They gave me a new one without debate and I bought 2 additional ones. (Just to get prepared for the Vietnam trip later this year.) Now, when I try to charge these, it's the same loading error in the charger. I put them into the cam, took some photos, put them back into the charger and again: loading error. Any ideas or tricks someone? Is it the charger and not the batteries? Or is there nothing else left than to return the batteries again? Perhaps someone can help me. Cheers Jochim
  9. Hello. I have just ( one week) at last bought an used M8 and am trying to get the hang of the camera...(having fun..) I am using Aperture 3.1, but have also tried Lightroom 3.2 for the M8 files. Today I saw something that I hope somebody can help me with (or explain..) I was shooting jpg and raw when I saw that Aperture misinterpeted the files. The dng files have an ugly colourcast. I have only seen this on two pictures but when I import the files into Lightroom they appear ok. I have also seen that the Lightoom pictures are some pixels bigger than the Aperture pictures? Is that normal? Hope that somebody can explain what happened to my files... I am having fun with the M8. But find it hard to get tack sharp pictures... (not used to rff yet I suppose...) I got hold of an hopefully mint silver M8, an CV 28/1.9, CV 50/1.5, CV 15/4.5 and an CV 75/2.5 Planing to retire my Nikon D200... The files are jpg exported from Aperture DNG exported to jpg from Aperture DNG exported to jpg from Lightroom
