The postman brought a bayonet adaptor this morning so I just had to try out my recently acquired Elmar 90mm f4 (#1482xxx) which had been primarily bought for use on my IIIg, on my M9. Prior to this, the longest lens I had with bayonet mount was a Summarit 75mm and I was concerned that focussing the 90mm on an M might be a problem, as I have read various threads about difficulties that people have had. I made a couple of quick tests, one subject at minimum distance, the second at infinity. Ignoring the vignette in image 1 (SilverEfex Pro 2), I note that at infinity and against a blue sky there is a hint of vignetting (which would be easily fixed) but I wonder what the 'best' setting on the M9 would be? At the moment I have selected "90 f4 11633/11634". Based on today's results, it just might be a while before the 90mm makes it back to the IIIg...
