  1. I've written another page on the Leica M 246, the tonality and dynamic range and my - sort of - conclusion for my own use of the Monochrom Enjoy! Thorsten Overgaard: The Leica M 246 Dynamic Range
  2. I am a photographer from Bangladesh. http://sayedasifmahmud.com/ I used to use a 5D from canon with a 35mm f2 lens and also some other compact film cameras but always with the 35 mm focal length. I only do B&W photo. For my personal work I never bothered to buy an upgraded 5d mark ii or later versions. I don't have/need other equipments/lots of specifications. But now what I feel is I need a smaller camera. I am fine with a fixed focal length. But I need a very good dynamic range, since I often work with extreme light condition. I don't have much budget. So Leica was the last option I could Imagine. But now after looking at Lecia XE, I think I can afford this. So I was doing some research and now little bit confused with the other options. Lecia XE/Leica X/Leica T with 23 mm Lens/ Olympus Pen F with a 17mm lens? Is their any chances to get an updated versions of X series? Any rumour/ anything? Thanks, Asif
  3. I like the concept of the M262 as a stripped down rangefinder for those who do not need or want live view and video. For those who have used the M262, three questions: 1) How does the range/viewfinder compare with the M9, M240, and film Ms for clarity and ease of focusing? 2) How does dynamic range compare vs M9 and 240? 3) How does white balance compare? Thank you in advance.
  4. It seems that one could do a simple test to see how many stops of exposure move an illuminated object from "blue" to "red", or from one end to the other of the so-called 'raw histogram'. Anyone with an MM have a chance to give it a go?
  5. Back in late autumn 2007 my Digilux 2 suffered sensor failure and it was shipped back to Leica UK for repair. This was the time time they were offering Digilux 3's cheap as an alternative to a repair. Obviously I took the opportunity to buy the DL3 at around half price as it appeared a good deal. However, 6000 pictures later I still appear to be disatisfied with exposure on many photos. This is despite having used the autobracket function extensively. In reality I have probably taken 2000 photos with this camera as I generally take three shots. The problem I find is with the dynamic range it appears so easy to under or over expose. One can get the foreground exposure corect and the highlights in the back ground look over exposed. I have tried the various film settings and auto / manual settings as well as the three metering modes but still the problem occurs and exposure is rather inconsistent. I did not have this problem with my previous Digilux 1 or 2, nor do I have the problem with my V-Lux1 or C-Lux2. Over the years I have used a variety of film cameras (Contax / Rollei / Praktica) before moving to digital Leica and never had the exposure problems I appear to get from the DL3. What have been other people's experiences with this camera and its Panasonic equivalent in the exposure department? I am currently considering an X1 and was wondering if the DL3 should get the chop rather than the C-Lux2 to offset the cost of the new machine. John
