The grass in Richmond Park has gone all Andrew Wyeth this year, looking like a storm at sea :-) DLux4

Hello all, I inherited a D-Lux 4 recently from an old friend. Having taken ownership of it I turned it on and noticed the power-up screen displayed 'Lumix' rather than 'Leica'. Apparently it was damaged a few years ago, sand, etc, and he took it to a camera shop in Soho who rebuilt it for him. I'm guessing they put the Lumix version of the software on rather than the Leica version. Anyway that's a bit of history.... Last Saturday I thought I'd upgrade the firmware on it to bring it up to the current Leica v2.2. Despite following the instructions for upgrade (format card in camera, place firmware file in top level of SD card, etc, etc,) when I turned it on I got 'No Valid Pictures' and it will not upgrade. V frustrating. I'd like to know whether anyone had experienced something similar, whether there is a way of restoring to a Leica version of the firmware, or whether I am now stuck with a D-Lux 4 that has Lumix firmware on it? Any pointers/advice/hints would be gratefully received before I have to contemplate a trip to a Leica store to help me sort it out. Many thanks in advance.

LG Stefan

Hello, I just got my Dlux 4 the other day. One of the main reasons why I bought it was the fantastic reviews of users shooting in low light conditions. Granted im still toying around with this beast but the initial shots I've taken have all been a bit soft. I've played around with different settings but I haven't found one that gets me a nice crisp shot indoors with min lighting. What's the recommended settings that I should use to get sharp shots in low light settings (without a tripod)?
