  1. My CL didn't switch automatically between LCD and EVF any more, so I sent it in. As it turned out, the eye-sensor had shifted. Given that the camera just returned from a trip through Tanzania in rather adverse conditions, it was not pristine to put it mildly when sent in and it had received a couple of shrewd knocks, so it came as no surprise that Leica refused guaranty. I did protest gently, but success could not be expected. Anyway, the estimate came to 375 Euro, which I of course accepted. However, just now, the camera was evidently opened up for repair and CS revised the cost to 135 Euro. I find that really honest and customer-friendly.
  2. Hi! I have just recently brought a second hand Leica m10p camera that is produce in June 2019. As I was testing it, I found that there is a horizontal line run across most of my pictures. It happens when my camera is heated or I dial the iso up to 1600. Previous seller claim that he never encounter any issue like this... This is my first Leica m camera as I'm not very familiar with it, so I'm not sure if it is trigger by me or is it something else. I have read through all the forum since I have this issue. And was surprise that this is a common issue on this extremely expensive camera. I have follow the instruction from attached post and send several email to Leica to explain my problem, thinking it will be an easy fix. However, a week has passed and never received any email back from Leica customer service nor the technical department. Does anyone has similar problem with horizontal line or customer service? Any advice would help enormously! Thank you so much!
  3. So a while back I noticed the beeping sound in the video recording, so did others on this forum. I contacted Leica about this problem and this is what I got as a response: #1 my email: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello dear sir, madame I’ve bought a Leica M Typ 240 in 2013, and it has been a joy to use. Recently I tried the video function for the first time, and I heard a beeping noise when I played back the video. The audio was recorder with the internal microphone. I looked it up on the Leica User Forum and found out that more people where experiencing this problem. Of course this is not a problem that makes the camera useless but I’d like to hear from Leica what to do with this camera. I’m running the latest firmware etc. Also if I need to send it in for service, I would need a replacement camera during the absence of my own… How does this work? I’ll be glad to hear from you, Kind regards, Jip --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #2 Response by Leica: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear van Kuijk, Sorry for the late answer. Please use the external microfon adapter set ( 14634 ). The quality is better than with the internal microfon. Please send a mail when you have more question Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Kind regards i.A. Lxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I of course was angry at this short and useless response, so I send another mail to Lothar: #3 my response to Lxxxxx at Leica --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Lxxxxx, That might be the case but beeping in the audio channel is not normal, it should be fixed. I’ve read on the forum that others have send their Camera in and that their camera was fixed after. I find it a big fault for a camera that costs over 6000 euro. I hope you can come up with a better solution as I am not satisfied this way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now a few days later I get another response from Herr Lxxxxx #4 repsonse from Lxxxxxx at Leica --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr. Van Kuijk, The audio channel is by all Leica M ( Typ 240 ) the same. I ask our workshop about the audio channel. It can not be fixed. Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Kind regards i.A. Lxxxxxxx --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So this is where I am now, short answers by some rude Lothar at Leica, who doesn't even say he is sorry to hear my camera isn't behaving as a camera should... Leica of course sets the standard and beeping should be implemented in all cameras over the world. I am sick of this companies arrogance.
"Ob denn was defekt ist?" Was würdet Ihr empfehlen?
  5. Hi firstly I should say hello to all and have been a lurker but not posted. Great information and input on this forum so thank you. I purchased an X1 from Leica Mayfair with full passport (one of the last in stock after the release of the X2). I paid a slight premium for the knowledge that I would have a passport with the camera. Five weeks ago I noticed a large foreign object on my sensor, and the camera started to lock up when it went to power save. This was not limited to one particular SD card and I regularly format all my cards and spend money on decent branded SDHC's. I decided to return the camera under the passport. I contacted Mayfair and they agreed to send UPS to collect, I received the forms and noticed that the camera would only be covered for a max of £500 so if lost in transit I would be considerably out of pocket. There is no option to add insurance to the service offered by Leica- seems crazy to address the package to a well known expensive brand and send it into the wild with out insurance, in my mind this was asking for the camera to go missing in transit. Anyway I decided to pay for insured courier to Mayfair and then it would be their responsibility if the camera went missing between London and Solms. No contact from Leica so had to chase to find out what the status was with the repairs to be informed that the camera was back in London and they had powered it up to find dirt now in a different place on the sensor and so it would have to be returned again to Solms (6 weeks know - The same time I have owned the X for!) Leica offered me a loan camera which had to be collected from the store as they won't courier loan cameras, I live 200 odd miles from London so a close friend collected the camera, The camera arrived filthy and this is not an exaggeration greasy finger marks all over the lens and more to the point with no battery?? What is going on with Leica, I have a long history with Leica and this is not what I have come to expect.
