Bonsoir Messieurs-Dames , mein langjähriges Schwärmen für die schönen Gehäuseformen der Schraubleica - verbunden mit dem generellen Interesse an Sucher-Systemkameras und dem Interesse an der Leicaflex - hat mich darauf gebracht, mich hier mal anzumelden. Ach ja, und wenigstens etwas habe ich von Leitz: zwei schöne Pradovits (RA150 und C2500) mit drei Objektiven (Colorpan 2,5/90, Elmaron 2,8/150, Elmaron 4/250). Leider habe ich keine Schraubleica, und die Leicaflex bleibt wohl erst mal deshalb ein Objekt der Begierde, weil ich so schon viel zu viel schönes Geraffel habe 😋. Ich fotografiere seit Anfang/Mitte der 80er, mit einer Pause von 2007 bis ca. 2018/2020. Meistens Architektur und Landschaften, gerne Nachtaufnahmen in der Stadt, früher auch gerne Konzertfotos wie das hier 1986 bei einem Auftritt des McCoy Tyner Trios feat. Freddie Hubbard (der Bassist war Avery Sharpe) mit einem auf C/Y adaptierten Zeiss Jena Zebra-Sonnar 2,8/180 auf Ilford HP5 (ISO 3200/36°, Microphen), Blende 2,8 : Vorwiegend auf analogem Diafilm (ich habe zwar eine Sony A7 mit allen möglichen Objektivadaptern, aber die nutze ich fast nur, wenn ich mal Fotos für Internetauktionen machen muß). Momentan zu glatt 90% Schwarzweiß: Diafilm in Farbe - früher Kodachrome 25 😍, dann ab den 90ern parallel Ektachrome 400, der letzte eisgekühlte mit guten Ergebnissen kam 2018 aus der Kamera; heute notgedrungen mit Ektachrome E100, Fujichrome Velvia 50 und bei schlechtem Licht mit Provia 100, belichtet nach ISO400/27° und passend entwickelt. Diafilm in Schwarzweiß: früher Agfa Scala, heute Fomapan R100 selbstentwickelt; Tri-X-Pan und Delta3200 sind noch im Test-Stadium und Schwarzweiß-Infrarot: Rollei-Infrarot 400 selbst umkehrentwickelt, denn mich interessiert eigentlich nur Diafotografie. Wozu hat man zwei Pradovits? 😋 Technisch habe ich in den 80ern mit Exakta Varex aus den 50ern angefangen (sind bis heute da, zwei von drei Gehäusen inzwischen in einer Görlitzer Werkstatt überholt und gerade mit ihrem Lichtschachtsucher sehr schön), in den 90ern wurden dann Contax RTS IIen meine Haupt-Kameras und sind es bis heute, mit einer Orgelpfeifenreihe von Zeiss-Festbrennweiten. Zwar gefallen mir Leitz-Objektive bei Vergleichstests mit ihrer etwas wärmeren Farbwiedergabe besser - aber jetzt habe ich nun mal die vielen Zeissige, und gleichwertige Leitz-Optiken würden mich heute ein Vermögen kosten 😉. Daneben seit einer Weile für schlechtes Wetter, Schnee und Kälte die wunderbar massive Canon New F-1 mit ihrem tollen Baukastensystem und speziell dem Canon FD 2,8/35 TS für Architekturfotos - und für Reisen mehrere Sucher-Contax aus den 30ern und 50ern mit der vierteiligen Biogon/Sonnar-Objektivreihe 35-50-85-135 mm: eine leichte und doch vielseitige Reise-Ausrüstung, die eben nur einen Bruchteil von Leica-M-Material kostet (das ich mir nie leisten konnte, auch wenn ich den M-Sucher brauchen könnte). Die Contax IIIa ist zwar längst nicht so formschön wie die elegante Leica IIIf, aber man bekommt mit ihr auch lange Belichtungszeiten wie hier aus der Hand überraschend gut gehalten (Soester Dom 2024, Sonnar 2,0/85mm von 1947, Blende 2, Fomapan R100) : Dazu noch als kleine schnelle Immer-dabei-Kamera eine Rollei 35 TE von 1980, meist geladen mit Fomapan R100. Besonders angetan haben es mir in letzter Zeit die unvergüteten Vorkriegs-Sonnare mit ihren poetischen Unvollkommenheiten in bestimmten Lichtsituationen, wie bei dieser (verunglückten) Aufnahme im bretonischen Nantes im Spätsommer 2023 (Sonnar 2,0/50 von 1937, Blende 2, Fomapan R100) : Ich freue mich drauf, hier im Forum erst mal auf Entdeckungsreise zu gehen 😎. Hi All SL-users! I have had my SL for some months and used mostly M-R lenses with the adapers and the 24-90 Zoom which covers most situations. The system is heavy, but once you get used to it, -you start wondering why not use lenses of your 645 cameras:)? I have the Contax 645 lenses and wonder if anyone has found suitable adapter to use these on the SL - even if the AF and some other functions might be lost? Some time back there were still companies which made tailor-made adapters, but I have learned that we are maybe past those times?;) However, there are individuals who are keen to solve problems and I remember someone making an AF-unit of Nikon's 16A-teleconverter, which was not that difficult after all... Even the Photokina exhibition might have revealed something on this front? So, -please, share any of your experience and of this topic? if there are any:)? br Hans

Hi, I have problems to fire my Contax TLA 200 on the hotshoe of a recently purchased Leica M6 classic. I fidnthat weird because from what I know the Leica M6 classic pretty much takes any flash you put on the hotshoe (without TTL at east). I haven't tried it off camera yet. I did some research on this topic but couldn't find any previous threads covering it. Therefore hereÄs my question: Has anyone of you encountered similar problems or has used this flash on the Leica M6 classic successfully? The Canonlite flash which came with the Canonet QL 17 III doesn't fire either. As the Leica M6 classic has just been purchased I want to make sure that the hotshoe isn't damaged. To be honest, that's what I suppose at the moment.... Thanks for your help!

Is early days I realise, but I wonder if we could please have a thread devoted to third party lens performance on the SL please. In my case I would be interested in experiences with Zeiss F mount lenses (ZF/.2), particularly the 1.4/55 Otus, 1.4/85 Otus, and 2/135 Apo-Sonnar. But I also have a couple of C/Y lenses. I'm sure there are others here interested, as well as those with Canon and Nikkor glass. If I end up with and SL I will report first hand, but I haven't decided to pull the trigger yet (I had wished for higher resolution and IBIS), but there is a lot in this camera that appeals, including it looking like a good tool for some R glass I have. So, anyone with an SL and experience with third party lenses, please share your experiences. Thanks in advance.

And I can't wait for an upgraded M so I can get a camera with decent lenses... I've been thinking about the Olympus E-P1 for a month or two now, and really, really liked it - that is, until I saw the lens tests. There is a line from a reviewer about the movie, "2010"... Let me see if I can remember it. "How can a spacecraft (referring to the Russian spacecraft Alexi Leonov) from ten years in the future (of the movie 2001) look like it is twenty years older?" Something like that anyway... The E-P1 reminds me a lot of my Contax G1 and G2 - sans finder of course. However, the zoom lens that comes with it, although of the same approximate range and F-stop as the Contax zoom Contax G System , has tons more distortion. The pancake does nothing for me. How is it that twenty years ago (or so) Contax could make a lens system for a new type of RF (made of titanium!) that didn't need correction in software, didn't have loads of CA, and with all the modern tech we have now, Oly can't? It's as if Apple had decided to make a new, tiny iPod for 2009 that had a black and white display and 10GB of memory and sold for $800. Why can't manufacturers these days make a small camera with a zoom, a great set of primes, reliable and tough, with fast focus and a full frame sensor? If Contax could do it all those years ago, with by our standards primitive processors and electronics, why the frell can't it be done now? This is exceedingly discouraging. Sincerely, Dana Kincaid
