  1. Good morning everyone! I'm having a problem with my M7, on my last trip in Morocco I’ve took some photos on Porta 400 with good results, except for a darker band on the left side of some frame and some vignettes on the corners. I'm more concerned about the band at the moment. Have you already had a problem like that? in my opinion could be the shutter but the problem seems to appear just when I shoot colour film. I’m kind of scared about a serious problem view the amount of electronic parts in the M7. I can’t show any samples because of the 2,44 mp limit unfortunately:( if you want you can go on my IG profile: randomcolora thank you in advance!
  2. Dear all, I just received X Vario purchased thru eBay a few days ago. I was super exited but due to work, I havent had the chance to fully test the camera. I work in office and would see clear sky on weekends only.. (yeah.. bummer!! :-P) When shooting clear sky, I would see these clusters of spots. I have contacted the buyer and he said that he has never experience these spots on any of the pictures he's taken. He sounded genuine and as a good seller, he offered full refund or AUD100 for repair. (which is I dont know how much yet) The cluster of spots will move with auto focus movement (when I move between the contrast area of tree/clouds) I have fallen in love with the camera and would like to keep it is the problem can be fixed easily.. (I live in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur.. and the nearest Leica service center is in Singapore). Now, I'd like to get advise with these photos if the X Vario is worth keeping? how much would Leica charge to have the sensor cleaned, presumably it is the dirt crud on the sensor? Would I be able to claim warranty? I've called Leica Malaysia but the answers are between 1-2 years only for X Vario? Is this true? I dont see any warranty card in the box except a test certificate. https://www.flickr.com/gp/zul-fawie/5071y2 Would these cluster of spots develop overnight or during shipping? is the ex-owner is telling me the truth?. it was shipped well in original box and bubbles. Appreciate your kind help as this is my first Leica. no cluster of spots if taken a faster aperture. Kind regards, SR
  3. Hallo Forum! Enjoy - in English: http://mennigmann.com/photo/2016/01/d-lux-old-school-bw-photography-settings-guide/ Gruß, Marc
  4. Hi there, my name is Wim, I’m from the Netherlands and I am new on this forum. I came here because i bought a Old black leica camera in a thriftstore. I got curious about the name of the model, if i can make it work, it’s value, and if i could clean and (if needed) repair it myself or if its better to bring it to an expert. I already did some research on the forum but i couldnt find my exact model and lens. Here are some pictures. I hope you can help me out with some info!
  5. My first Leica R series camera. I picked this up the other day and am very excited to use it! I sent it to DAG camera repair and it should be in my hands next week! Don is doing a complete overhaul on the camera, plus modifying the metering system to accept a modern battery. What can you tell me about this camera?

    M4-P

I've been using an M6TTL for a while now. I got the chance to acquire an R3 Mot + 3 lenses at a good price but found them to be a bit lumpy compared to the M6TTL so I've just traded the R gear for an M4-P in really nice condition. Okay, it hasn't got a meter but a combination of sunny16 and using my Minolta Auto Meter IVf in tricky conditions will get me through. I love the feel of the M4-P and the fact that no batteries are required. Anyone else here have one? Any stuff to watch out for?

    Baryt question

Hi I have been using ADOX MCC 110 for all my prints since I got back into analogue, because this is basically the closest (if not the same) to the AGFA paper I used back in the days. I'm happy with the results, but would like to hear your view/advice on: -Is there any paper on the market that provides darker blacks and whither whites combined in one paper ? -Or is it more dependent on developers and downstream chemicals (I used Ilford suite) ? Thanks for your input. Regards NdV
  12. It was a wet and miserable day today but I insisted on dragging my wife out for some "Fresh Air" and an intention of taking some photos at one of our local villages - Bibury. Whilst walking along the road by the river, I noticed this black swan (Signet) and I have never personally seen one before so waited for a short pause in the rain and managed to take this photo of it - judging by the reaction from the local ducks and a couple of moorehens, they were not used to a black swan either.
  13. I have newly purchased the Leica D-Lux 5. I used to have a passion for photography before my 'real life' swept that all away. So back to the here and now. I take images of gadgetry for blogs mainly mobile phones and accessories and have thus far used the inbuilt mobile smartphone cameras for this purpose and used the same for mobile phone functions and personal social events. The photo's and videos are not up to the standard I would wish them to be and I am really unhappy with the shots and videos that I do manage to take. So, I have purchased the Leica D-Lux 5 with this in mind and to re-visit my passion for photography. My personal photography consists of architecture and scenary/horizons etc rather than portrait photography. However, I have always been interested in Black and White photography particularly portrait and this is something I would enjoy learning more about. I am not looking to become a professional photographer but just to learn and use the capabilities of my camera for work, enjoyment and pleasure and to expand my basic knowledge. Being a newbie to the size and weight of the camera and the fact it costs so much (in respect of my finances), I am almost scared to hold it for fear of dropping it. But, on the other hand I want it to be easy, quick, versatile and minimal in its use and transportation - therefore I do not want to get a handgrip and the view-finder is something I am interested in purchasing at a later time. The original Leica leather case is far too bulky for my needs and the neck-strap I also find an annoyance. I guess I will eventually find a way to hold the camera in a position that is comfortable. I have ordered Alexander White's book on "Photographer's Guide to the Leica D-Lux 5: Getting the Most from Leica's Compact Digital Camera". Is there any advice you would give me to help in pursuit of my goals? Oops, I forgot to mention, LightRoom 3 comes free with the D-Lux 5. I was contemplating selling it to off-set the cost difference in comparison to the Panasonic Lux 5. However, I am wondering as to whether I will regret selling it in a few months once I am on a learning curve. I have downloaded the trial LightRoom 3 to try but I do not think I will have much opportunity to get the full benefits of the 30 day trial in between studies etc.
