The first time I charged my Q2's battery it went to the green "charge" light. Yesterday the battery indicator was red. so I charged it overnight. this morning both the green charge and the orange 80% are lite. does this mean it's not fully charging? I pulled it out and re-inserted it. the charge was blinking but then stopped after 5 minutes. the orange 80% is still lite.? to me this means it's stuck between 80-100%? ? Anyone else experience this?

I searched the forum but did not find any information on the topic of battery damage caused by dropping, so here is my dilemma: Today I accidentally dropped one of my Q2 batteries (#BP-SCL4). It fell about 4 ft. (1.2 m) and landed on a hardwood floor. It was in a Tenba battery pouch, which has thin neoprene padding on the bottom and sides but none on the top. It sounded like it hit on the top where there is no padding (why, yes - of course!) 🙄 I see no physical damage to the battery - no dings or cracks in the outer case, and no leaking (so far). I inserted the battery into the Q2 and the camera indicates a full charge. My concern is that this drop may shorten the life of the battery, that it may not hold a charge or it may not take a full charge down the road. If anyone has had a similar experience with a Q2 or other M camera battery and can shed some light on what I can expect, it would be a great help. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am a pro with 26 yrs experience and I have been asked to shoot a book in East Africa in 2 weeks. Leica's Australian distributors, Adeal, are loaning me an M9 and lenses to take. I already own M4-P, M6 and M8 (which will be my backups) and 15CV, 24ASPH, 50/1.4, 90/2.8 and 135/4 I collect the M9 and a few lenses next week. The villages I will be working in do not have electricity I am told ... So I guess my choices are to buy a Solar Charging Mat/Panel or simply buy and pre-charge about 10 M8/M9 batteries. Another possibility is taking along a 12/7.2A battery and using that to charge the flat Leica batteries. I am not a battery "Einstein" so would have no idea how many Leica Battery charges I might get from a larger, donor battery. I will also be taking my MACBOOK AIR as a storage/backup device for image files so it would be good to hear your thoughts on powering that as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Mark

I had a real surprise which has occasioned a couple of questions. I don't take my R9/DMR out as often as I used to and it has seemed to me for a while now that the life of my two batteries has decreased dramatically. So this past weekend I decided to check things out properly. I charged both of my original equipment batteries, then ran both of them down until they gave it up. I was grading student papers, so I'd grade a few paragraphs and then shoot off 5 shots in quick succession (continuous mode), grade a little more and repeat. One battery gave me 385 shots before biting the proverbial; the other, a slacking 360. I even chimp'd a little with the playback just to impart some token verisimilitude. So am I right in assuming that these batteries do not hold their charge over long periods very well? —because they obviously do OK when freshly charged. Also, at what point do people decide its time for a rebuild typically? I've had mine for six years now. Brent 'Great surprise, but I didn't get many papers graded.
